Goat's POLS Thread for Mature Adults

Lololol....

The Trump campaign released a scathing statement Thursday ripping into Fox News for putting “a finger on the scale for Joe Biden” after the fake news outlet called Arizona early for the decrepit Democrat.

“A Clinton-Voting, Biden-Donating Democrat Runs the Fox News Decision Desk,” the statement reads in bold.

He can't get out of the White House and into prison fast enough.

The POTUS is an unhinged lunatic who around 70M Americans voted to have his finger on the US nuclear arsenal. It truly boggles the mind.

These are not the votes you're looking for.
i have had fox news on in the background all day. painting in really broad strokes these lawsuits seem worthless to me. they either implicate a number of ballots that won't be enough to overturn a state or they make such broad allegations that they won't have the evidence to meet their burden or they won't be able to give the judge an easy out. as to the broad allegations think how specific the issue was in 2000 with the hanging chads. the issue and the evidence were there and clear.

the best way to win a case is to make it really easy for the judge; to give the judge an easy out that's clear and understandable and does the least harm. wtf do they think any of these judges are going to invalidate an entire state or an election. it's silliness.

Trump probably will end up losing by 50k at least in Nevada once this is all counted.

Yeah, I respect their work.
I was listening to Julie Mason on POTUS radio a couple hours ago, she used to work for Politico. She was talking about Trump starting a TV news empire. She sail Politico tried it while she was there, they put a lot of money into it. They built state of the art sets, they staffed it with some of the sharpest minds around. It failed, and she thought Trump would find entry difficult.

What she did not understand is that Trump has no business staffing it with sharp minds creating thought provoking conversation. He is going to staff it with Alex Jones and Q, except they may be too mainstream. He is not about to overestimate Americans, so it will succeed,

Video in this thread of that event showed unarmed white protesters, but you started your post about them with, "Speaking of white supremacists/nationalists... " Describing them that way is not fair to the visual evidence, and I think that's what got Ranger started on this exchange between you two.
But my comments preceded and were NOT related to the visual evidence posted in this thread. My comments were based on what I witnessed on my tv, and comments from both GOP and Dem poll watchers saying that they had been harassed.
The poster in question has a strong relationship with emotion and a weak one with the facts when it comes to criticizing Trump supporters. Said poster is an excellent catalyst for Trump supporters turning out at the polls.

You have a different understanding of the people that make up the Michigan Militia than I do. Their attempt to kidnap Whitmer is not their first flirtation with violent "popular uprising" type of actions directed against Govt officials they dislike...

One of the invaders of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon in 2016 (John Ritzheimer) is a long time Arizona based militia enthusiast. At one point he posted a youtube plea with him crying and begging people to contribute funds so he could buy gas to travel to Michigan.

His goal was to get to Michigan so that he could join his brothers in the Michigan Militia as they arrested (Michigan Dem Senator) Debbie Stabenow for Treason. I can't find the video any more- it predates Trump and IIRC her crime had something to do with her support of the Traitor Obama and the Iran Treaty. Again, I never tried to tar average "GOP voters" with a broad brush in my post. I was referring specifically to people who self identify as members of a group like the Michigan Militia...

The Michigan Militia was a bunch of (imho) crazies before anyone ever heard of Donnie Trump as a political candidate. Trump was the perfect catalyst to legitimize their actions, just like he did when he equivocated and tried to claim there were good people on both sides in Charlottesville.

I'm not sure how I motivate people to vote for Trump. I'm a 65 yr old guy who shifted from a GOP supporter who wanted Nixon to win in '68 to being a McGovern supporter 4 yrs later when the most important issue to me was Vietnam. I just came to feel that Dems came to represent the concept of what I considered an "American", and I never felt the urge to go back to my Republican roots.

If my posting facts about militia types "inspires" people to vote for Trump, then my guess is that would be folks predisposed to riding the trump train. This is right up there with the "faux outrage" over Clinton's deplorable remark. She was clearly talking about elements within Trump's base that I would agree are deplorable.

No idea why you'd bring me up in a reply to another poster. I don't think I've ever mentioned you in a post before, and could probably count on one hand the times I've even directly responded to a post you made...

I wouldn't be complaining if you could show me an example of a trove of Republican ballots showing up somewhere from out of nowhere.

Because you've swallowed Trump's idiotic nonsense, including the idea these are new votes...

These are the people who voted FIRST, starting as early as the nominees were known and mail-in ballots were mailed out. Trump tried to demonize the whole mail-in process, and as a result his supporters largely refused to take advantage of that option. I think the stats I saw was that in PA, registered Dems returned 3x as many ballots in the mail and drop boxes than Registered GOP voters...

What would have made the most sense was if the GOP Legislature in PA would have allowed mail votes to be opened and checked as they came in. But they insisted that they could not be opened prior to election day. Now plenty of states do allow mail ballots to be processed, and some states (like FL) allow them to even be counted. But the GOP Legislators in PA followed Trump's lead and tried to sabotage the whole vote by mail process...

THIS confusion and delay is EXACTLY what they wanted to happen. They knew that Trump would have a huge advantage over people who waited till election day, and they wanted to create this mirage that the GOP had a lead and late voters are voting DEM and trying to "steal" the election...

But these votes are the people who voted early. So in effect, this should have been a huge Biden lead with the Trump voters trying to overcome that advantage on election day. There are only expected to be 1000 votes in Philly that are the ones that were postmarked and came in within the 3 day grace period from Wed-FR.

These ballots which are being counted and reported have been sitting in the election offices for a month or longer in some cases, and Trump DELIBERATELY tried to persuade his supporters NOT to vote by mail. So even in "red areas" why would you expect many mail in votes to be people who voted for Trump?

Listened to a press conference today from the head vote guy from GA, and watching the SoS from Penn now, and I'm just struck by how many protocols, both technological and personnel, that are in place in both states to make sure that votes are legitimate, how seriously everyone takes the responsibility, how proud these people are of the complex procedures, how personally invested they are in upholding the sanctity of voting, and the competence and integrity exhibited...regardless of our local idiots who act like the process is easily corrupted (one who actually lives in PA).
Sure makes our IPOTUS and his impotent and embarrassing legal flailing about look ridiculous.

yup legal flailing. and i'm sure there is an element of corruption, but i always assumed it was negligible and built into the process as an expectation. kind of like skimming at a bar.

I get that Democrats have an advantage in mail-in ballots. Where I have a problem is that every ballot that is in that pile gets counted without anyone verifying the signature. This sews doubt in the legitimacy of the ballot pool and the ideals of one man/one vote. Then, when the GOP has to sue to get access for their observers, it adds fuel to the fire. They counted ballots in Fulton County GA after they sent the watchers home early Wednesday morning. Why do that??

dems appealing pubs right to watch vote counters work. why would they care

There's a huge difference between GOP/DEM/Independent poll watchers who are assigned by the local party and some militia type who takes Trump's entreaty to go be a poll watcher to heart and tries to force their way into the room where ballots are being counted.

You think these people are interested in an orderly observation process? They just want to be disruptors like Trump, and when they showed up in Detroit they basically harassed and forced legitimate poll watching observers out of the room. If they are armed in a state like AZ, then there is an additional element of intimidation...

Also, I think there are concerns and rules in place due to COVID. Most of these folks processing/counting votes are volunteers. The last thing they need is to be harassed, by folks who see them as a threat to Trump's election...

Your last paragraph is a hoot. A summer of lib riots and you wanna complain about some actual peaceful assemblers

I think that signatures ought to be verified, but it is absolutely up to each state to decide to do that or not, and how to do it. Most use computer software.

Everyone probably saw thus since CNN and MSNBC both said it, Cumberland County PA is voting Trump by about 11%. They just dropped 20,000 mail in votes and Biden won 70% of them. I doubt a GOP county committed fraud for Biden, it shows how pro D the mail in is and explains why Biden will win PA.

It looks like the only way this election gets called tonight is PA. GA is going to be too close to call, even when the last vote is reported. If anyone were going to call NV, they would have done it already. NC won't report anything for a week.

Trump is making some sort of announcement at 6:30..so as always so he can dominate the evening news-or is that not fair Hillz?

I thought most places were using the 1% rule that CNN uses. I doubt PA gets over 1% tonight. Which leads to CNN's "appearant victor".

I think you're missing a step. You're talking about the people who open the ballot, check visually to ensure the necessary blanks are filled in, and then stack them. From there they go to someone else who checks the name vs the register of voters to make sure they haven't already had a vote counted, and then I think they use software to verify the signature. They interviewed an election official in one of the states today, and they mentioned that this register check procedure was why the entire counting procedure is so slow. It's all very labor-intensive...

Btw, the red areas of PA are showing margins of Biden at 60% or better as they are reporting their mail-in numbers... Trump has basically slit his own throat by being so adamant about discouraging his supporters from voting by mail...

California is at 66% counted. Biden might end as high as 4.5% ahead nationally. That might be high, but at this point it is possible. If he hits 4.5, that would be 3.9 from 538's final poll of polls. So .4 from the MOE.

In a discussion about transparency and potential vote counting malfeasance in Philly. Van Jones (CNN) just claimed that this discussion is "insulting because BLM did all the work here" Really? BLM was in charge of the vote counting process in PA?

Is there any topic or subject matter where Van does not immediately play the race card?

See, when Van Jones and Rick Santorum cone on you are supposed to turn it to Fox or MSNBC. Pro tip for you.
