Goat's POLS Thread for Mature Adults

If everyone stopped counting right now, Biden wins. Even with that, I desperately want them to count them all.

I don't think they have shut down the golf course there. Everything is back to normal, just masking and social distancing. My gf has been posted there for a $23billion engineering project up in Tianjin. She is quite surprised.

I wasn’t talking about Covid.

In China?

Mechanism for laundering:

Even apartments to get money out of the country. But one in China and get another for free outside. But they have out a clam down on these schemes. Very innovative.

Singapore has a lot of folks parking their ill gotten wealth too. (It's the 5th largest financial center in the world.) I know of a few cases personally.

Anyway it's getting late for me. Need to sleep.

I played IU yesterday, holy hell it gets harder every time I play!!

Haven't been down there yet... how's conditions?

I worry they've built a course that's too hard. That's great for college level players, but not sure how often people want to play a course that beats you up.

Another CPA friend in town that’s not that great of a golfer played few weeks ago. I think he said they played 6800 yards. He shot 80.

Good to hear. Sounds like a great track, but just hoping he didn't build Wolf Run v2.0.

conditions are great but you can’t miss. The heather is a ball guzzler. You lose 5-10 balls a round if you are a bogey golfer.

The stock market seems to like what is going on-it was up 3.00% a little earlier.

Which is nutso to me....all the market prognosticators claimed that a close election and split govt was the worst market outcome due to gridlock and no stimulus.... shows again.... nobody know nutin.

My only guess is GOP holding the Senate blocks any tax hikes

As a Trump voter...2X, I am really not that disappointed with what appears to be unfolding. I have Trump fatigue, like many, but...for me, it came down to what the 2 parties basic platforms are. How do they want to govern? What is their basic vision of where they want to take this country over the next 20 years or so? I held my nose and voted for Trump. So be it, he is going to lose.

With that said, by a factor of 10:1, I was much more concerned about the Senate. At least as of now, it appears the the GOP will hang on to the majority. An untethered Joe Biden, being tugged to left by the Bernie/AOC wing of the party, is not palatable to me. Many of you here disagree with that, and that is OK, I am a big boy.

The golf coach took me around the course in a cart last fall. It certainly looks difficult but not crazy hard like Wolf Run and Victoria National. I think more like Crooked Stick in difficulty. There seemed to be a few forced carries that might make older guys unhappy.

The Clubhouse looks cheap compared with the quality of the course. No big deal.

I don't see a catch-up path in AZ for DJT, from where the remaining votes are. 5 counties, 3 right leaning, 2 left leaning, but the larger ones are the left-leaning.

That’s a good summary, Trump is an ass and I wish he would lose his twitter account. But as you said, any party and platform that wants to put Bernie/AOC in positions of power on top of Pelosi and Schumer isn't good for middle America, especially for agriculture.

So what happens if we have a SCOTUS vacancy in the next 4 yrs? Do Mitchy and Miss Lindsey just say that 4 yrs is too close to an election to allow Biden's nominee to get a Senate Hearing?

One issue was that there was an error in which votes were included. There are more votes outstanding than what was originally reported.

PA or GA would be nice insurance against a flip in NV or Arizona. Biden camp certainly seems bullish on taking a clear lead in PA once everything's counted.
Nv mi wi are best case scenario bc it gets to 270 and removes states subject to legal challenge

Yep, McConnell will be able to keep the crazies in check and SCOTUS will make sure constitution remains.
Good! Trump's attempt to alter state voting procedures clearly violates the authority of Congress.

I think a large reason for optimism for (Pres-Elect) Biden in PA is that the outstanding count is mail in. PA early vote is almost prohibitively pro-Dem, and there are plenty of outstanding votes in solid Blue areas around Philly and the suburbs.

In addition, the "red-leaning" Counties almost uniformly reported their election day vote first, and even they have outstanding mail votes. That's even a huge plus for Biden, given that Dems were the main participants in mail voting, even in "red" areas...

We don't know for sure the (pro-Biden) trend regarding mail votes will continue, but the trend is very strong. I heard that in EVERY single state (except the Dakotas) Biden WON the mail vote and conversely (aside from CA, NY, and IL) Trump won the election day vote. So if Biden ends up winning (as I believe he has) he actually won the election in the early vote...

Thinking about AZ, I suspect those of you who are Republican have received fundraising requests for appeals. If they concede Arizona, those requests don't seem as likely to be met positively.

Confirmation Wisconsin is done. Would think this gets called pretty soon once the networks double-check that the vote is complete, although they might just wait to make sure there's not a recount, etc.

Heard on the radio (NPR) that GA still has 200,000 ballots to count and Trump is ahead by 100,000. If that's correst, that's too much ground to make up, seems to me.

I have serious doubts about the south Florida USPS story.

I got mine in a long time ago, but USPS go it there in under 24 hours. My wife mailed hers on an Saturday and it was there on Monday. My mailman flat-out told me that they were instructed to identify the ballot mail, separate it, and deliver it first.

So unless things changed in the last week or two, that not how things were going in Palm Beach County, anyway.

a 75-25 split is required

It's asking a lot, but if it's all or mostly mail-ins and if it's all urban, that doesn't seem SO crazy.
