Unfortunately you are correct. There is no recourse for teen takeovers anymore. Cops are told to form a perimeter and let it burn out. People can retrieve their smashed and ransacked vehicles in the morning. If someone is getting beaten maybe they can make an arrest.
The CPD officers I know are just collecting a paycheck at this point. Which isn’t terrible I suppose, the city government doesn’t ask or expect you to do anything for crimes in progress, in that way it’s safer.
But they have to feel pretty purposeless.

Attended the No-glove, 16” softball championships in Forest Park yesterday. There is a Hall of Fame next to the fields. These guys are incredible fielders and strong as oxes to be able to hit that ball as far as they do.
