CEO of United Healthcare gunned down in midtown Manhattan

I made no endorsement for or against the article, but I have seen posts of sympathy for the killer and posts of no sympathy for the victim. Also a lot of rage at insurance companies and US healthcare in general. You seem to take personal offense to the article. Why?
Grin. It takes a lot more than a stupid article from The Hill for me to take offense.

Why is this article garbage?

16 paragraphs bitching about Trump. What does that have to do with anything? Then he drags along Ukraine, the pandemic, J6 for good measure. The guy was all over the place with no focus other than bashing Trump.

Strange reaction by you. I was actually telling my wife the response to this murder is like nothing I've seen. Even on FB where folks have to show their face so to speak, many people were venting their frustration with healthcare in this county. And this guy was the lightning rod.

No one on here is condoning murder. But it is evident this country is at a breaking point on healthcare costs and overall lack of control on procedures/process.
I do find it odd that no one is speaking out on Brian Thompson’s behalf. Whenever there is a highly publicized murder, you usually hear from friends and loved ones speaking to the deceased’s character and something about how much they’ll be missed. As far as I know there hasn’t been anything like that. There also doesn’t seem to be a makeshift memorial at the murder site, which also seems commonplace.

Again, I am not condoning or championing a murder, but it would seem “healthcare insurance corporation CEO” might be one of the least likable professions.

A guy now in custody in Pennsylvania.

Maybe they have the assassin.
Just saw that. Supposedly had a gun like the one used in the murder and some fake IDs. The police in Altoona, PA were acting on a tip. Very likely could be him. We’ll see.

He’s an anti-capitalist left wing nut who admires Kaczynski and Bill Gates.

Was reportedly outed by a McDonald’s employee who noticed his face.
If he is the assassin, I'm glad they caught him, but it's pretty wild how much he was caught on camera and surveilled, despite seemingly trying to stay off that stuff as much as possible.

Just goes to show that any given moment, none of us are that hard to find.

Reading the article on AP, he kept the gun? Has this guy never watched a single episode of ANY show having to do with crime/criminals? If it’s the guy, definitely not a pro.

Yeah...that's pretty wild. Seems disposing of the weapon would be pretty basic in terms of attempting to get away with it.

And supposedly a McDonald's employee recognized him in Altoona. I guess lowering his mask to flirt with whoever he flirted with at the hostel was his undoing.

Also, I'm kind of surprised a McDonald's employee working in the middle of nowhere cared enough to do a double take and recognize him.

Very engaging smile.
You should see his high school valedictorian speech on X. If it hadn’t been so hot - see the kid fanning himself and some administrators/teachers wiping off their heads - he would have been wearing a cashmere shawl-collared sweater.
