I think the Trump side and the I don't like Trump side are going to have to figure out what issues they can coexist around and start focusing on that. This is his last hurrah and none of you are likely to find a comfortable home in the other option. There won't be some "MAGA" takeover of the GOP. Trump is a blip and the money is still with the establishment. However, the establishment types are going to have to recalibrate their approach and some of their positions should they want to stay a viable party.

Agree for the most part but disagree to the extent trump is a blip. Trump tapped into something bigger that is a flag others will carry. He touched a segment of the population that felt ignored or out of touch with old guard pubs. Someone will take his place OR a smart Dem will come along and bring them under their tent and republicans will be left with very little left. The pre Trump Republican Party won’t win a national election again imo

Yes, I heard him say that he doesn't know anything about the people who wrote it, most of whom were in his inner circle in his administration. He is distancing himself from it because many aspects of it have gotten bad press.
Did you not hear what Rubio initially said about it, in a speech at the Heritage Foundation, before getting his marching orders from Trump? That it is a "policy blueprint for the next administration"?

Yes, as I said there will need to be a recalibration, but Trump isn't a kingmaker. He does have a bit of a cult of personality built around him that dies with him. The question becomes does he leave any lasting policy markers that can be built around. I don't think things look the way some of the hardcore Trumpy people on Twitter think it will look after he is gone.

The co-editors of Project 2025, Paul Dans and Steven Groves, held important posts in the Trump administration. Dans was Chief of Staff at the Office of Personnel Management (the agency that staffs the federal government). Groves was Deputy Press Secretary and Assistant Special Counsel.
Project 2025 has two associate directors, Spencer Chretien and Troup Hemenway. Chretien served in the Trump administration as Special Assistant to PresidentTrump and Associate Director of Presidential Personnel, helping to identify, recruit and place hundreds of political appointees at all levels of the government. Hemenway also served as Associate Director of Presidential Personnel and previously worked on Trump’s 2016 campaign and Trump’s 2016 transition team.
John McEntee, former Director of Trump's Presidential Personnel office, is a senior advisor to the Heritage Foundation, and said that the group will "integrate a lot of our work" with the Trump campaign when the official transition efforts are announced in the next few months.
The manifesto's chapter on the Executive Office of the President of the United States was written by Russ Vought. Under Trump, Vought had a Cabinet-level position as director of the Office of Management and Budget. Vought is also drafting Project 2025’s “playbook” for the first 180 days of a second Trump term. That document is not being shared publicly.
Of the 38 people responsible for writing and editing the manifesto, 31 served in the Trump administration.

This isn’t the Heritage Foundation’s first Trump rodeo. They did something similar the first time around, but on a much smaller scale. Their 2016 “Mandate for Leadership” included five individual publications, with 300+ specific policy recommendations for Trump. In 2018, analysis completed by Heritage determined that 64% of its policy prescriptions were included in Trump’s budget, implemented through regulatory guidance, or under close consideration for action in accordance with Heritage’s original proposals.
Project 2025 won’t prevail on ditching no-fault divorce, but history tells us they’ll get most of what they want in a second Trump administration: Vastly expanded presidential power. Carefully vetted Trump loyalists throughout the federal government. Oval Office control of federal agencies. Penalties for even referencing “climate change,” and withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accords. Dismantling workers’ rights to organize through unions, replaced by a less powerful alternative called “employee involvement organizations.” Slashing corporate taxes. Shutting down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The shit-list goes on.
