Archie Talks Open Scholarships Next Year

In the radio show last night, Archie was asked what he plans to do with his last scholarship next year. He said that he will have two available scholarships, and will look for movement, transfers, and junior college. I thought he has twelve lined up for next year leaving him one available. Where is he getting the second scholarship?

while I am on record, many times, saying that Smith can drive me nuts, he is our 2nd leading scorer and 3rd leading rebounder. That's not what I would define as being "so bad". Nor would I consider that production easy to replace, considering who we have returning and who we have coming in.

Coaches at IU can and do push kids out, regardless of the constraints of the SBOR. It happens across all sports where any student is on scholarship (full or partial) for athletics. If you know any kids that compete, they’ll tell you. And Glass knows this goes on, and how it goes on. And he’s fine with it.

Smith just shouldn't be our 2nd or 3rd best player, and isn't a wing which he has played almost exclusively under Archie. He should be our 4 next to TJD at the 5 but we have had such poor guard/wing play we have no choice but to play him there with another big alongside TJD.

That’s what I’ve figured most of the season. He and Green are the bad apples, I assume? Green graduates and Smith will grad transfer. I wouldn’t be surprised if Anderson leaves as well but I’d rather he stay and just keep working.

that's my bet. Hunter developing and seeing more playing time means even less time for Anderson. And I would assume CAM is looking for a good 3pt shooter as a transfer. I don't see a future at IU for Anderson based on the results so far. His playing time has dropped off to almost nil.

yes agreed. many players stats were padded early. Durham, Green....hell even TJD has struggled against real B1G bigs vs the pseudo-D2 chumps he was abusing early.

Aside from TJD, everyone else on the team scores less than Smith. So based on actual game results- games are decided by numbers ie points scored, everyone else on this squad (sans TJD) contributes less than Smith. Brunk scores much less. Does he leave? Phin? Hunter?

Does TJD just play one-on-five every game next yr? (assuming he doesn't go Pro- which he won't as he hasn't made a shot outside of 5 feet all season)

Smith doesn't seem to have a lot of fire in him but his per-game output is better than what you are willing to acknowledge. Just saying "he sucks, ok?" is a purely emotional response. LIke arguing with my wife. I'm a numbers guy. Math doesn't lie. It's not subjective.

Like him or not, if Smith goes the grad Tx route this spring we have a huge hole with no one in line to fill it.
