NOTE: video below has NSFW language in it.

This video was filmed in the small rural town of Bethel, Ohio but without knowing that it could have very easily been filmed in any small town in America.

This type of ignorance and vitriol runs deep through the worst of us - and as evinced by no one lifting a finger after a man is punched in the back of the head right in front them - it's an example of how that line of thinking permeates some of our police force.

I'm a pretty hopeful and optimistic guy, but I don't know how you fix this type of thinking. If people get this angry about a group of peaceful protesters, I don't think that says a lot about who they are as people or where they fit in modern society.

USA! USA!

This video a great example of why I consider the word "patriot" a slur.

What the story behind the video? What did this guy do piss off the True Mercuns?

All the cops should have been out of jobs the minute after that video came out.

As best I can tell, some Bethel residents planned a peaceful protest and advertised it - not unlike the protests that have happened in multiple towns across the country. Counter protesters decided they'd show up and wouldn't have it. If you google Bethel, Ohio you can find some even more reprehensible videos where one of the protesters is repeatedly called the 'n' word.

Nothin like hitting a guy in the back of his head who is just standing there, rednecks.

reminds me of the below. That’s my national right

There was also a FB live stream by a woman resident of Bethel who had her sign ripped up. Her 60 yr old mother who had been a schoolteacher in Bethel for THIRTY YEARS was also accosted and verbally assaulted by the out of town bikers and militia types. Apparently someone had posted on some wingnut FB site that "Antifa was rolling in" (to freaking Bethel "never heard of it" Ohio) with a "police force" of 6 people and about 600 inhabitants...

But since Biker types aren't particularly known for the ability to discern reality from nonsense, the "patriotic Bikers" all lit out for Bethel, and got their jollies hassling old ladies and sucker-punching people on street corners. Definitely a prime example of trumpcult at it's finest...

Per Wikipedia: "The racial makeup of the village was 98.29% White, 0.11% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.19% Asian, and 1.21% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.72% of the population."

That pretty much says it all.

Pretty pathetic display. Does anyone really think the person who sucker punched the protester can be reasoned with? The ones screaming names at him?

I live less than 20 miles from Bethel. Driven through it a few times, but never had a reason to actually stop anywhere in Bethel. It’s basically a redneck town well east of Cincinnati. Big enough to not be a quaint little farming village with B&Bs etc. instead, it’s much like most other rural towns of modest size. Let’s just say what happened does not surprise me at all.

Not the cleanest looking or sveltest people appear to reside there so I will just stay away. Must be a water shortage in Bethel.

They called the peaceful protesters “traitors” and told them to “get out of my country.” This is the ugly face of white nationalism. It is fascism.

Believe they said “county” ... regardless, this is what happens when minimal education, hate and a lack of viable options for economic development converge.

These people are filled with hate ... and I believe it mainly comes from fear. They don’t see opportunity, so they resort to “protecting their way” in order to “keep what they got”.

What reasonable person would have any interest in living there?

Ohio State fans are disgusting in so many ways

Facebook removes Trump campaign ad featuring Nazi concentration camp symbol

https://www.nydailynews.com/news/po...0200618-lpdtlat62fcbzdy2dncj3hgsdq-story.html

Facebook removed an ad from President Trump’s reelection campaign on Thursday that featured a symbol used by the Nazis to label political prisoners in Adolf Hitler’s concentration camps, saying the inflammatory post violated the platform’s “policy against organized hate.”

The disturbing ad, which was launched Wednesday, calls on users to sign a petition hailing Trump’s “decision to declare ANTIFA a Terrorist Organization” because “dangerous MOBS of far-left groups are running through our streets and causing absolute mayhem.”

Beneath the ad’s text is a picture of a red upside-down triangle.

Schutzstaffel, the legion of German Nazi soldiers who ran the concentration camps during World War II, sewed badges with the exact same symbol onto the sleeves of political prisoners, including socialists, social democrats, communists and anarchists, but also trade unionists, Freemasons and people who tried to rescue Jews.

Those bikers weren't from Bethel.

I’m a patriot. I’m sure most of the people here are patriots too. The word “patriot” is not a slur. Allowing despicable people to tarnish the word is unacceptable.

I hear ya. That said, allowing a political party to co-opt the notion of patriotism to exclude Americans who have different political opinions is the most common way to tarnish the word.

We have posters here who are significant violators of that principle. When are you going to disallow those posters here to try to co-opt the concept of patriotism to denigrate anyone who doesn't agree with them? When are you going to communicate to them that their attempts to do so are unacceptable?

BTW, if you're thinking that this post is in support of mainway toys' general posting and posting style, please think again. But his post, while over the top, has something of a point even if he's articulated it only in snarkiness, and that is that there are people who claim patriotism when in fact they're not patriots, and there are those who use claims of patriotism to divide Americans, all in the name of so-called "conservatism".

Rednecks ride in simply to remind us that the left doesn't have a monopoly on bad behavior.

Impressed that dude didn't flinch when Bubba punched him in the back of the head. You notice he ran off after he did it.

Did you read this post after you posted it? You described yourself perfectly! Oh yeah I like tacos!

I think you’re a patriot. Patriotism doesn’t equate to conservatism.
