2022 Recruiting Thread

Pointing out that IU fans act like jerks is not acting like a jerk. Insult about being toothless and/or participating in incest in 3...2...1...
So, did BBN / UK fans act like jerks to John Higgins? Or is that something we’re not allowed to point out?

UK going after Philip’s. Striking out on their top choices.

How is IU striking out on their top choices?

Man, some people need to step off the ledge here. When you go after top players like a Phillips, some of the big boys are gonna come calling. You've gotta get in the ring and fight if you want these guys or we're never going to be good.

Our fan base is weak minded every time a big time school comes along. Give Archie some time to work.

Lol. They have been jumping off the ledge over not getting their guys. That’s all that comment was about. That’s it. I like to poke a bit to see who’s watching.

Sure you can point it out. I'm not in favor of contacting officials on social media, but on the other hand, maybe next time he officiates a game between two of the best college basketball programs, he will let them play and not try to attract everyone's attention to himself.

You can read can’t you?
Well, you see, in English the apostrophe is used to show possession. You said UK is going after something owned by some guy named Philip but didn't state what that was they were after. It was an obvious joke that went right over your head. It wasn't really very funny initially but it's even less funny for having to have been explained.

So before you start throwing out insults, you may want to check your own writing first since you were talking about Shawn Philips (no apostrophe) and not something owned by Philip.

Our fanbase is full of boomers who don’t know as much about basketball as they think they do. What did you expect?
It’s also full of people who’ve never seen IU as an elite program, yet they speak as if they have. Most know basketball from video games, not from playing or watching.

A few little tidbits concerning '22 class:

--Fletcher Loyer, brother of current MSU guard, from Clarkston, MI is transferring to Homestead HS in Indiana, Luke Goode's school. Has offers from Purdue & Michigan (apparently not MSU). Averaged 23 pts/game last year. No reported IU interest as yet.....

IU is keeping in close contact with K. Lands & Leland Walker......the '22 PG recruiting will be interesting. The note I saw about Walker quoted some recruiting guru as saying he'll be Mr. Basketball in Indiana in '22, fwiw. I really like what I've seen from B. Smith...............
IU started recruiting Fletcher Loyer about 2 weeks ago.

Added Troutman and Taylor to the offered list

On his highlights........perhaps lacks elite quickness, but is athletic leaper with a pretty solid build. Looks like he can handle the ball, and has good shooting form. He really likes to take it to the basketball, but also shoots the pull-up jumper off the dribble with either hand.

Although he's unranked by Rivals & 247, he does have offers from Florida & Georgia.

Took a look at Rice.......interesting to compare the two because one is listed as 6'4" 185 lbs (Rice) and the other as 6'5" 185 lbs (Troutman).

Despite that similarity, their games are much different. To me, Troutman's game can be compared to Geronimo, Leal, Galloway.....a 3 guy, perhaps somewhat raw but with big upside. Most like Geronimo, perhaps. Although Rice & Troutman are both listed at 6'5", Troutman seems to have the bigger frame. He's probably the stronger of the two. Rice looks like a true combo guard........better handle, with a quicker first step, very comfortable outside shooter. I don't see a direct comparison with anyone presently on the roster. Definitely the more polished of the two at this point.

Added Troutman and Taylor to the offered list

Last of the three new guys to look at is Taylor.........I think ufo would like this guy, as he's a 47% 3 point shooter. I would describe him as a Luke Goode type, but presumably better, given his ranking. 3/4 of his highlights are 3 pointers, most of the stand-up variety, although there are some where he puts the ball on the floor to get get free or for a step-back 3. He's listed as 6'6" already, 1" more than Goode, as a jr. Again, not someone who we presently have on our roster. I would describe him as a taller, less athletic, less aggressive Leal, with a much purer shot. He's not a guy who will finish drives to the basket in college. He'll be a pure 3 pt shooter. He'll have trouble trying to guard athletic combo guards.

edit---247 lists JT as 6'6", Rivals as 6'5".....I've generally gone with the 247 heights and weights in my listing.....the guy does appear to be a legit 6'6" on his highlights.....has a 'gangly' appearance to him.

edit II---Of 15 '22 offers, 9 are guys between 6'3" & 6'6".....only 3 are 6'8" or more......I sure hope we get Kaufman!!

Okay. I truthfully hate it that he ruined what could have been a great college basketball game by calling so many unnecessary fouls on UK's best players. Satisfied?

Just what I'd expect from BBN - never is UK's fault, always something/someone else . . . ;)

IU with 2 more big time offers:

--6'4" 185 lbs Jalen Hood-Schifino. Out of Florida now, a Pitt native, Commited, the decommitted from Pitt. Desribes himself as a PG. Rivals says SG, 247 Combo guard. #46 on 247, #33 on Rivals.

--6'11" 215 lbs Favour Aire. Nigeria native, lives now in MD/DC area. #112 on 247, #44 on Rivals. Looking at his highlights---raw, but very impressive potential. Shot-blocker, rim finisher type, with raw offensive game otherwise. Very much looks to me closer to #44 then #112.

Thanks. I hadn't seen the Aire offer.

Not always, but sometimes. And I'm not saying we would have won the game. But it was a good game and might have been a great one if not for him.
UK led 64-59 after Humphries hit a jumper with 5:12 remaining. The Wildcats then allowed UNC to go on a 12-0 run down the stretch up to the :49 mark, when Fox made a 3 to end the skid. Then, after Monk hits a trey with 10 seconds left to tie, UK does a horrible job of transition defense and doesn't pick up Maye, who hits to win the game.

Higgins is not to blame. Relying constantly on talented freshmen is the issue. Experience counts. And that's the TRUTH, teller.

It was a great game... it just didn't end the way you wanted, and as the other poster pointed out, it had to do with your team's play not the officiating.

That's the truth as IU fans see it, which hasn't been actually been true for several decades now.

This is SO simple that even you can understand it.

If we are so irrelevant now days, then get the F### off of our board.

No need to thank me, I like to help the disadvantaged.

Exactly .

If you could buy the toothless wonders for what they’re worth, and sell them for what they THINK they’re worth, you’d have more mint Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates & Warren Buffett COMBINED.;)

I never post on threads discussing only IU basketball, because that's not an interesting topic. But when one of you comments about UK, I have to step in. Otherwise, it's like a herd of cows trying to figure out what that big shiny thing flying overhead might be.

Uh, no, it’s undisputed FACT.

UK had the lead and control, then went nearly 5 minutes without scoring. But, hey - it’s JOHN HIGGINS FAULT!!!

BBN is the most whiny fanbase EVER.
Higgins isn't the reason we lost the game. He is the reason the players didn't get the chance to decide who won the game.
