That’s a long shot. Not impossible, but unlikely. Garcia a far more likely option.
Looks like we're effectively out of the RJ Davis sweepstakes...he has Fall visits scheduled to Pitt, UNC, Marquette.

Nick Baumgart tweeted that IU is not a "done deal" but are "closing" on Matt Cross.
Fwiw, Nick Baumgart looks to be a legit tweeter concerning IU basketball & SW Indiana HD basketball. I could not find the Schrader guy in the tweeter world, so I don't know what's up with him....
Given that Cross is visiting A&M on 8/30, it sure looks/sounds like it will be either A&M or IU.....
In possibly related news.....Geronimo is now ranked #74 in Rivals tweaked ratings....that was the major change of IU interest although Steward went from 25 to 35 and Diarra from 71 to 78. Geronimo is visiting IU on 8/30, so it will interesting to see what happens with those two. I personally think Geronimo has a much higher ceiling, but understand that Cross could reinforce the 4 spot.
Call it a hunch, but have a feeling Cross may not make it to College Station for his OV.

FYI, Geronimo took an unofficial visit to Virginia on Friday. His sister rows crew for UVa, so it's possible that he was with the family helping her move in for the semester. No mention of an offer, but there is some buzz circulating that a scholarship may be coming available. Regardless, the St. Paul School basketball Twitter page featured a photo of him with Coach Bennett.

Baumgart is THE Nick Baungart that used to work for Peegs. HE is LEGIT. The other guy is some A&M schmo who is likely just a fan. While it's not beyond the realm of possibility that Buzz could land Cross at A&M,they are NOT a favorite going into his last visit which they had to work hard to get. Buzz does have a history with the family,but Archie and Frank Martin are coaches they are close to as well...
Not sure if it has been conveyed over here (like it has on Peegs) but ARCHIE LOVES MATT CROSS!! He is handling the recruitment personally,and Snow has remarked repeatedly that he has never seen a bigger case of INFATUATION than Archie for Cross. He LOVES Matt's TOUGHNESS,and feel's it's a quality we desperately need, so hopefully Nick's sources (who are likely East Coast) are right on the money.
Biggest threat is probably Miami/Florida although the 247 beat writer for SC has been predicting Cross to SC since before Cross even visited IU. I think that's sort of a repeat with what we saw from Vandy with regards to Romeo- a homer simply relying on overconfidence oozing from the staff. Like with Vandy,some of that probably comes from SC being on Matt so long and not being able to get info from outside of their own staff to realize the situation changed when IU seriously entered the picture...

IU doesn't need a buck sixty-five reclassified PG, do they? I guess he could be ready by the time he is a junior which would be when Phinisee graduates.
Never know... One or two guys could choose to either take a medical and/or move to greener pastures and we'd have more scholarships available...

If we get Cross, but not Garcia, the front court looks like this in '20-'21 if no more changes, roughly by height:

There's a lot of water to flow over the dam before 2020-21, but if that was our roster, I'd be ok with it.
Garcia would be huge to get, but he's a long-shot.....w/o mentioning any specific names, I would not be surprised if any 1 of 4 guys from the front court decided to leave, for various reasons.
I think the writing was on the wall when Geronimo committed yesterday that Cross wasn’t coming. Stings to lose out on Cross as he had been a high priority for some time, but kudos to Archie for having a contingency plan and landing a solid 1B backup plan, who in all honesty has more upside and potential. Wish Cross well going forward.
If IU doesn’t sign anyone from here on out it’s still a very solid class. Add a big and/or Love it’s an excellent class.
I thought Cross might have fit if it meant transitioning into a physically and mentally tough team that might over-achieve and be fun to watch.
That roster would, however, be lacking in star power. We got plenty of role players in Brunk, Race, Al, Franlin, Leal & Galloway. Potential, but uncertain potential, with Geronimo. We don't know for sure what we have with Rob & Hunter. We don't have much with Smith and Anderson. TJD should be very good.
That leaves recruit #4 for '20. If we want to be able to compete with the big boys in 2020-21 it needs to be someone like Garcia (preferably) or Love who can carry the mail. Someone like Loveday or a grad transfer big could set things up for the '21 class but won't be enough for 2020 team.
I imagine the 4th ship will be for a PF/C.
Im curious if he still had an offer after Geronimo committed.
