We got a contender

Didn't watch him a ton, but I did see him on the perimeter set to shoot and calling for the ball. Didn't come to him, but had it, I have no doubt he was pulling the trigger. He looked like he put on weight and looked better moving with and without the ball I thought, for the limited time I saw him. I think he'll be solid for what he is: a backup PG. With both Carlyle and Galloway, I think they'll take some of his minutes so I doubt he'll get much more than 10 a game, but I think he'll be fine and will be one of our better spot up shooters.
Cupps was fine last night in limited minutes. Attacked the basket on multiple occasions and played solid defense on Ziegler.

New Yorkers Lining Up for Trump

Oh, I agree. Feeding the narrative is a mistake.

I'm just saying that the narrative would be going ahead with or without it. That was my point about it already having started up before the rally even took place. Hillary's "Nazi" comment was made on Wednesday, I believe (as an example).
In many ways, comments by Hillary and Walz are worse because the rally lived down to expectations. It gives people like you a reason to focus your disdain on Dems and the MSM instead of the reprehensible appeal to the worst elements of MAGA.

New Yorkers Lining Up for Trump

I'm not sure where you're going with this. Since the MSM was going to 'report racist no matter what,' then they should have gone all in?
That's certainly not what I mean by it.

I mean that it wouldn't have made a difference in the narrative if the comedian hadn't have said what he said. It just handed them a better platform upon which to stage it.

He shouldn't have said what he said. But it's an article of faith on the left that that the right is filled with racists -- and that existed long before Trump was around.

And if somehow we pull the upset and beat OSU? 3 undefeated teams, wonder how tiebreakers would fall

Just did the math on this, and IU is currently tracking 3rd in the tiebreakers.
1. Head to head results - not applicable since none would have played each other
2. Record against common opponents - still tied since all are undefeated.
3. Results against common opponents from highest to lowest record - still tied since all are undefeated
4. Conference win percentage of opponents - this will most likely be the deciding tiebreaker and IU tracking 3rd behind Oregon at 1 and PSU at 2 - To close the gap, IU will need NW, Neb, MSU, and Mich to finish the season strong, and have Illinois, Wisc, USC, and Minny to stumble

SVP Show

This has been an incredibly weird season, to say the least. Even the most optimistic fan could not have seen the level of which IU would simply dominate teams. It's so far over any rationale that I find myself randomly laughing in bewilderment at times in the 2nd half of games.

As I listen to SVP (and others on the outside) discuss the euphoria and belief in the program, I can fully understand their perspective. They're thinking logically but this season has played out in a way no one has done before by a new team on the scene. We are beating teams so soundly and in literally EVERY facet of the games that our confidence isn't based solely on our record, or how well one player or one side of the ball is playing, like is typical for teams coming out of nowhere. We aren't making mistakes and are simultaneously capitalizing on other team's mistakes all....game....long.

Therefore, the reason the confidence level has grown to what seems like unrealistic levels isn't simply because our record shows us as undefeated, it's because we are experts at pinpointing where our team is going to fall apart at the seams. No one understands that better than us due to our consistent path to mediocrity each season, and through 8 weeks, we genuinely are struggling to find a hole..............anywhere.

Each week we see more people overcome that same mental barrier, so we just need to keep winning.

New Yorkers Lining Up for Trump

I guess what I was getting at was that given the environment where people were calling Trump and his proxies racist and xenophobic, someone at one of his biggest and high profile rallies a week before the election actually said some racist and xenophobic stuff is pretty wild.

I appreciate Cupps and am glad he dons the cream and crimson, but, hoops-wise, he might have been better off at a mid-major. That said, he's only played one season plus one exhibition game, so the jury is still out.

If Cupps wants to be a solid contributor at IU, he needs to look for his shot MUCH more. Everyone with an iota of basketball knowledge realizes IU has been in desperate need of a consistent perimeter threat since Woody stepped foot on campus. Maybe GC will be that guy someday. 🫰

Parenting and teenage parties

No but my dad's best friend owned a tavern where I spent nearly every Saturday with the old man in the mid/late 1970's from the time I was 8-ish years old until 13-ish. The day would start out the same. The old man would take me out around 7 am or so for a driving lesson at Ellenberger Park. Then we would hit Harold's Steer Inn for breakfast and to shoot the shit with Wilhelm, Yaggi and McLeish. We'd hit a few other places and end up at his buddy's bar around 11 am or so. The old man would drink with his pals, solve the world's problems and we would watch college football. They served great sandos there too around lunch. I would ferry drinks for drunks from the bar to the booths for tips. The old man would tell em not to, but they would slip the cash to me anyway. Was on a first name basis with the bookie Clarence. Hit my first 5 team parlay card at nine years old (75 bucks IIRC).

Those were some of my fondest life's memories, and I learned alot from them. Blessed I tells ya.
This….is awesome

Exhibition vs Tennessee

That's not the point. IU landed the best big in the portal, which is fantastic. But Ware brought a dimension to IU--long-ball threat--that Ballo doesn't have. These days, you need your 4 and/or 5 to have some range. Ballo has little range, and it takes Reneau 15 minutes to get off his set shot.
He played in a system at Arizona with Tubelis whom neither were a threat from the outside. Arizona did just fine.

Speaking of MR, how about the drive right, behind fhe back, reverse and jump hook. wow!
MR = 16.7 6.5 this season. Even with the influx of offensive talen.

He was never recruited to be Ware..
