Biggest home game since 1967

You hit on a very critical point Mobile; there are numerous comments (by opponents and media) about IU's weak schedule. However, IU has the two teams from last year's championship game on the schedule and it is not IU's fault they are both much less than what they were last year. Furthermore, this IU team may have been able to hang with either of those teams from last season; IU may have lost but I don't think either would have been a cake walk.

Polls - - a week out

That poll is bat shit crazy. I will say if Trump loses by a wider margin than he did in 2020 it will most likely be because he got trounced in the 65 plus voters…aka the asset class. They have done pretty well the past 4 years and are more shielded from inflation. They have already paid for their big tickets items in life; houses, education, child care, healthcare, and etc.
While the items you mention are a piece of the puzzle, the reason I've heard most often for why Harris is winning with women over 65 is abortion. Specifically that these women remember the coathanger days, and after that horror they lived the majority of their lives under Roe v Wade, which basically amounted to a women to have the right to control her own body.

Obviously these women are not worried about protecting that right for themselves, but they have daughters and granddaughters. They are incensed that a right they took for granted is being stripped away from other members of their family.

Yes it's a huge issue for younger women, but there is something about a rollback of what people consider basic human rights, that is motivating older women as well. There really is a huge gender gap surrounding this issue, and MAGA world lives in a bubble and don't really comprehend how deeply this issue resonates...

We learned one thing today

What I learned from the game yesterday is . . . I'm Pavlov's dog; when IU got down 10-0 my IU football conditioning kicked in and I was getting anxious about the outcome of the game. This IU team does not panic, does not roll up the tent, and continues to play the most fundamentally sound football I've ever witnessed from an IU team. I certainly hope, much like our NW visitor's thinking in the post above, that OSU is thinking exactly like that poster and fully conditioned to handily defeating IU every season. Perhaps the team getting the eye opener will not be IU.

Hoosiers

I had no idea Kamara has another year. That’s great, he’s one of the best defensive linemen in the country.

He's got another year, Ponds has a couple years, Fisher has another, Ferrell has at least one.

Our defense is gonna lose both starting d-tadkles, Carr, Walker at backer and both Asburry and Jones on the backend.

We're gonna hit the portal again this off-season for sure. I just hope people don't come to conclusions because of where they come from.

Peacock Network?

I have a bunch of times where the feed on peacock cut out today, apparently I wasnt the only one this happened to! NBC sucks as a whole with peacock and how they kinda screwed Indycar over! This app wont last long!
I've heard enough about peapuss it reinforces my decision to give them the thumbs down and enjoyed immensely Fischer and Buck. I'll do the same for Woodson and his boys. I won't adjust until hell is icy or BTN removes the cranium from their rectum.

Biggest home game since 1967

Interesting thread, I hope more people chime in because I'd like to hear what people say. We can crowd source a timeline.

In terms of implications you have to go back to 67. If Indiana wins they will have a good shot at the B1G Championship Game, regardless of what happens with the Bucknuts. But if they fall to a meatchicken team that we know is talented, all of the sudden all aspirations for Indy and the CFB Playoff are contingent on a win in Columbus.

I know this falls more under the memorable category but that comeback win against Illinois with ARE and company was pretty cool. Also this year's win against Nebraska (sold out, Big Noon) was fun because it marks the moment when we realized we really had something here.

But yeah, Austin Starr and the Penix Reach will forever be a part of iufb folklore.

Trump is smartly jumping all over it.

Meanwhile the 2 most accurate pollsters of 2020 and 2022 just dropped their finals. Enjoy. And stop falling for the psyop.

Trump +1.7 nationally.

I don't know about who was most accurate in 2020 polls, and much has happened since then to shift the political landscape. Dems and women in particular have been grossly underestimated since Dobbs, starting with women in Kansas turning out to kill the attempt at an abortion ban. I do know that Atlas INtel predicted that Walker would win GA, but that is their only poll I could find...

But the most accurate pollster in 2022 was Marist...

"The 2022 Midterms are in the past and the Marist Poll proved to be one of the most successful polling organizations with its accuracy. In the final battleground state polls, the Marist Poll went six for six in predicting the correct winner of each race. "

As to your attempts to demean Selzer, shie is probably the most accurate pollster in Iowa history...She caused the same sort of political earthquake in 2016 when her Nov poll showed Trump up by 7 in Iowa, a state that had voted for BO by 6 in 2012, just 4 yrs earlier... Trump won by 9...

Not saying she's infallable as she could always be wrong. But her track record is pretty solid

Also notice that none of the children trying to discredit her as a "never-Trumper" were making that childish claim in June when this same poll showed Trump up 18 over Biden...

Btw, Selzers poll would have to be off by 10 for Trump to match his 2020 numbers in Iowa, when he lost the election...

Is there a nightmare trend for Trump with older white momen in the Midwest?

Smerconish this morning

Smerconish said one more thing of interest, America is divided between those that see the world as Ted Lasso and those that see it as Yellowstone.
Well, sure. John and Beth Dutton and Rip have never played s*****.

And who can even understand the Brits in Lasso? They speak a different language.

Smerconish does have the only show on CNN worth watching.

Biggest home game since 1967

Despite IU's woeful history in terms of college football there still have been many fantastic games played at Memorial Stadium and for a variety of circumstances/reasons. For each of us there may be that one particular game we remember as THE BIGGEST game for IU. I sit here this morning pondering all of the seasons in which I attended games and endured IU getting it handed to them the way IU gave it to MSU yesterday, and WASH the week before, and NEB before that and so on. I was a student at IU during the time when Wisc had been previously known as a game IU could win on the schedule; then, that all changed and Wisc started kicking a$$ every year.

It is my hope this year is that year for IU; where IU is the team others dread seeing on the schedule; hello, NEB and Scott Frost's desire to play IU every year . . . how's that working out for you now? This team is special, this season is like no other, and Saturday is the game that can set the mark never before achieved by an IU football team; no matter the opponent, Saturday has the potential to be The Biggest Game to ever be played at Memorial Stadium.

Is anyone for Micah Beckwith?

The Indiana Lieutenant Governor is the point person for agriculture in the Governor's office, and it also has influence with tourism. I don't know that Beckwith will help with either of these, and he might be enough a sideshow to be a major headache.

McCormick picked a serious person with experience that can do the job. There was some groaning from the Dem base, because he had some socially conservative views. However, he still got an easy majority of votes at the convention.

Braun tried to do the same, but got railroaded at the convention by true believers. Not a good omen for the future, if Braun wins.

Trump won. Harris didn’t receive a single vote from the public and when she ran got trounced. She should not have been chosen
Should have been Shapiro, but Dems were stuck with the sitting VP.

I realize he won, which makes me question the soul and intelligence if this country. Literally every other candidate in the R side would have appealed to more people. The lunatics and uneducated are currently in charge and that is scary.

We learned one thing today

Gee, thanks for sounding the alarm on Ohio State. The team we have played almost every year for decades. It’s groundbreaking to learn they’re very good.
IU has played OSU, Michigan, Penn State and MSU every year. Northwestern, has not. So why on earth does a NW fan think we don't know OSU....better than a NW fan.

NW has benefited from a soft B1G West schedule for a long time and once things leveled off....suddenly they're trash. Go figure.

TopTendiana

Yesterday #9windiana became a reality, not just a t-shirt in Spartyville. In a few hours TopTendiana will also manifest in space and time.

10 Texas A&M lost
11 Clemson lost
11 Iowa State lost 😃

The way has been paved. Can they jump any higher? 8 Notre Dame and 9 BYU did not play. I would put Indiana ahead of the Irish for sure, they lost to a MAC team. BYU has been impressive but I would still give the nod to the Cigniana Hoosiers. 🚬

Will the voters agree? Meh, it's getting late in the season so things are less fluid. It could happen but I'd be a little surprised.

This absolutely won't happen but you can make the argument to put Indiana ahead of Penn State and Tennessee, which would put us in 6th. Again I'm not predicting it but a rational case can be made imo.

Thoughts?
Completely agree with everything here. I anticipate being #10 later today. My hope is that the CFP committee does what they're supposed to do on Tuesday and not take preseason rankings into account. If they do that, we should be closer to #6 like you said. But I'm not getting my hopes up for that.
