Can someone explain to me how in the hell

I actually think this is the bottom-line answer but it is impacted by a lot of the others. Coaching but with players that are open to your style and process. The portal allowed the staff the ability to do addition by subtraction and not spend the first year managing egos, parents and a lot of the outside noise. Rourke is mature and the game doesn't rattle him. I think he had some nerves in the very beginning of all of this but now he realizes he more than belongs and has a team around him that is complimentary to the offense. Bostad and the O line are a huge part of Rourke's coolness but he also manages crisis well. Now back to coaching, I saw something in the game that I am not sure has been mentioned or I missed it. We all saw that Myles Price made some rough decisions in the kicking game and then came back and had a key return. Coach laid into him a bit on the early decisions but on his big return Cig actually walked down the sideline across from him yelled out to help position him and stood there with him. I guess you can take that many ways but I see it as coaching the way it should be. "We are in this together son. I have have expectations for you and will ride you a bit to meet them for yourself and now I am going down here with you to support and help get this right."
Cig walks down and positions Price on every punt. Has all year.

I do think Cig told Price to run the next punt back when he let the one before roll toward the end zone. I could see Cig say something to him and he shook his head yes vigorusly. The next one he ran back big time.

New Yorkers Lining Up for Trump

Harris is out there doing rallies with Eninem who regularly calls gay people ******s, wishing them dead, and murders his wife and gf in his music. Yet you're worried about a joke a comedian made that no one on team Trump had any clue he would make and was booed by the Trump crowd. Weird.
Eminem hasn’t called a gay person a f@ggot in two decades.

He’s way too self-aware these days. Which is why his music sucks.

Now I’m the cool friend

I’ve been going to games for 55 years.
Sat through oppressive heat, extreme cold, rain and snow.
Went to games by myself when I couldn’t give away a ticket.
I’ve had numerous surgeries and health issues the past 4 years so I have not been physically able to go to many games.
But I bought tickets for Nebraska,Washington and Michigan.
I was in so much pain yesterday I was almost in tears but I don’t regret going Saturday for a minute.
I’ve been waiting for this for 55 years and if I had to crawl I was going to be there.
My Dad started taking me to games when I was 10,sure wish he was still here to see this.
Now my IU basketball buddies who have given me Hell for wasting my time and money on IU football are hitting me up.
Sorry fellas not a chance but enjoy another winter of Woody 🏀
We’ve only had season tickets for 25 years now. Your post is awesome. I can relate with a lot of your post- hopefully we’re finished getting made fun of for going to IU football games. They want to go now, get your own tix and park in BFE.

I certainly wouldn't say that it's a good thing, if you're Trump (or supporting Trump).

But I also think it comes up extremely short from being a QED about the event being a Nazi rally. That's like "basket of deplorables" on steroids. And what's interesting is that most Dem analysts, strategists, talking heads, etc. said after the 2016 that Hillary's slam of Trump supporters (or some large part of his supporters) was not helpful for her.

A standard maxim in politics is that, you can slam your opponent all you want, but stop short of doing it to their voters....who are the fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, friends, coworkers, neighbors of everybody else.

I never bought into the Trump is a nazi or they were trying to create a national rally, but he pissed off some pretty influential people like Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, ect. Nothing good can come out of pissing them off for no apparent reason.

Exhibition vs Tennessee

The first thing I asked my dad during yesterday's game was, "Is Ballo fat?"

I'm not fat-shaming or anything (shout out to Big Baby Davis); rather, I'm simply saying he doesn't look all that agile or quick. Ballo will produce because of his size and strength (and Woody's interior-heavy offense), but I expect him to be the fourth option behind Reneau, MM, and Rice. Ware he is not.
He was not supposed to be, He is a better rebounder than WARE. He is what IU needs.

I don't think it's shocking at all. It's completely expected. And I think it's probably right that they'd be running similar stories with or without the comedian's jokes. They were pushing this narrative before the thing even took place.

I just think it was pretty stupid of the comedian guy to hand them this on a silver platter -- assuming that wasn't his intention.

But it's not like the "Trump is a virulent racist and so are all of his voters" thing just sprang up because of this rally.
I guess what I was getting at was that given the environment where people were calling Trump and his proxies racist and xenophobic, someone at one of his biggest and high profile rallies a week before the election actually said some racist and xenophobic stuff is pretty wild.

Joel Katt ranking

Lets be honest, I think IU needs to win every game all season (including post season). I think one loss vs OSU, shouldn't eliminate us from the playoff but if we lose to OSU and finish 4th in the conference standings (after tie breakers)......I don't think we make the playoff.

So really, we just need to win every single game from Sept through the end of January.
Will be an interesting weekend. OSU plays at Penn State. If PSU wins, then OSU is sitting at 2 conference losses. That puts Oregon and PSU on a collision course for the B18 title game most likely. If IU end with 1 loss to OSU, they are the 3rd team in the conference.
