Polls - - a week out

Dbm do you believe it’ll be close enough to the finish line for trump to go ahead and declare victory this weekend?
For real though. If the election day count is really strong for Trump, it might be clear enough on election night that we don't have wait around for weeks while the mail-ins are "counted" to project who won.

We could possibly get a decision on election night. Quaint thought I know.

Trump suggests Cheney should be in front of a firing squad

As opposed to your Trump Derangement. It is ok for Democrats to say or do. I will agree it is irresponsible but he is not the first to say such things and will not not be the last.

Sure they haven't TDS
No, they haven't. What Trump has said or done, on multiple occasions, would have ended the Presidential campaign of any candidate prior to him and other than him. His most loyal minions, like you, have an incredibly severe case of TDS.

Zach Edey tonight

The NBA is not about how many 3's one team can take. It's about spacing the floor and creating mismatches of the defense. Defensive players got be able to handle switches. Bigs gotta be able to get to the perimeter. He is probably always going to struggle with that.

Edey might be a lob finisher when there is a 2 on 1 situation but I don't think he will be much in the PNR at the NBA level when giving picks at the top of the key to the 3 pt arc. Most those roll guys are quick, agile and quick off the jump. I watch a guy like Lively and he is half way to the bucket on a roll almost immediately after setting the pick.

Trump suggests Cheney should be in front of a firing squad

This is totally indefensible yet his minions will defend it. There is nothing he can say or do that will shake their devotion to him. This is the true TDS - Trump Devotion Syndrome. It'll be studied by academics for years to come.

No Republican or Democrat running for the highest office in the land, except Trump, has ever said anything like this or many of the other things he's said. It's indefensible, yet you try to (very weakly) try to defend it.

Is anyone for Micah Beckwith?

Trump's polling is up about 15 points. If that many Trump voters vote Trump and McCormick, I would be shocked. I can't help but think the poll that showed it close was an outlier.

That's a good point. But I honestly don't think it's outside the realm of possibility. I can't say exactly how many Indiana Republican voters are of the "Daniels/Holcomb" mold and how many are of the "Pence/Beckwith" mold. But there's a divide there. And I think McCormick has made an effort to appeal to people in the former group (like me) who aren't terribly enthused about the latter group.

Also, talking about the GOP's supermajority, it saddened me to look at the list of candidates running for state House and Senate from here. I think they were all unopposed. That's not a welcome sight.

Trump can't be a dictator in 4 years

One thing that I recall from my high school Poli Sci teacher always said that a political regime can not stay in power without the consent of the people. So I guess what Democrats are saying is that Trump will have the consent of the people in order to take over the US government and become an authoritarian dictator. It just baffles me that people actually believe this is possible.

The next president inherits a remarkable economy

We are probably viewing this situation different, but I suppose I don't get why dismissing relativity is sensible. The additional cash the lower income earner earns or spends has a materially larger benefit vs. a higher dollar quantity of the higher earner. If that lower income individual can provide higher quality food, buy things for the family, etc.

Are you thinking more along the lines of - there is a larger discretionary figure, of which some will be spent on incremental items that benefit the economy as a whole more since even if half of that figure gets spent vs. saved, it has a larger dollar impact on the economy (GDP, job creation, etc.)?

JDB, your post reminded me how the wealthy and the less affluent think differently while at the same time dependimg on each other.

The wealthy think about their investments and expanding their wealth while relying on the less affluent to spend their hard earned income and show up for work each day.

The less affluent rely on the wealthy to provide jobs and finance the industries which provide the goods and services they purchase. The goods and services which give them pleasure.

Is anyone for Micah Beckwith?

It’s why I think the supermajority has been bad for the GOP and bad for Indiana. Way too many extremists are in positions of power and are driving the state further and further right.

In some respects, I absolutely agree. I've said that it's almost like a mirror image of California and their situation.

But I don't think the popular support for the Micah Beckwiths of the world is anywhere near the popular support the lefties have in California, Oregon, etc. They clearly have a lot of institutional strength within the GOP. They also have some strength in primaries....but not nearly as much as they have in the delegates, precincts, etc.

There will be a popular backlash to them. I don't know if it'll happen on Tuesday. But it could. Braun on his own isn't a problem, but Beckwith is -- and Democrats have wisely focused attention on him.

Yes because no Democrat has made similar threats ever. Or actually tried to assassinate Trump.
The ol' false equivalency defense! Is what he said acceptable or not? Answer that question.

Also, don't be stupid. There is no evidence at all. Zero. That Democrats had anything at all to do with that assassination attempt. That shooter was a registered Republican and a nut. The second guy they arrested (and quickly released) was just an armed MAGA Trump supporter and turns out it wasn't an assassination attempt at all.

Polls - - a week out

365,360 R
320,735 D
260,943 Other
Total 947,038
Total Mail Drop looks to be 16,742 (there was another smaller one earlier in the day) and it appears to be 6392 D, 3722 R and 6628 other. Clark county is now 240,440 D…229,523R and 189,368 Other or about +10,900 D.

Trump won the non urban counties by about 70,000 votes in 2020. We are roughly 70% of votes to be cast and this ship gets harder to change directions for the Ds at this point

They were allowed to examine the ballots, envelopes, and voter registration cards? Because that is the only possible way to detect the fraud we believe occurred. Anything else is a complete waste of time.
Trump paid for their expertise. Trump knows he lost legitimately but wants you to believe otherwise - and you do. Keep on being a moron. It's amazing and pathetic.

Joel Katt ranking

I hate to be a Debbie Downer on this, but this is my fear and what I think is likely to happen at 11-1 (unless the CFP committee has us ranked #6-9 next week). This is the same Joel Klatt in a more recent video predicting IU to miss the playoff at 11-1.

***EDIT - I'd like to add something on a positive note. I know we can absolutely beat OSU and go 12-0. So let's just do that! That said, let's just beat MSU this weekend. GO IU!!!

Women dominate early voting

LOL, two garbage sources.
There's this thing called Google. Use it and you'll see the same thing reported by (among others) the BBC, NPR, Forbes, NBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, Politico, Gallup, The Hill, The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Wall St. Journal, The Bookings Institute, The League of Women Voters, etc.

Oh, wait... they are all part of the "deep state". Got it.

Is anyone for Micah Beckwith?

This is why I think the situation is likely to lead to a revitalization of the state Democratic Party. Maybe we’ll see evidence of that next Tuesday (McCormick could well win). If not, we’ll be seeing it manifest somehow soon thereafter.

The GOP is being deliberately divided, just like it is elsewhere. It’s reminiscent of the hijacking of the Tea Party -- which began life as a movement about fiscal policies…but was quickly seized upon by the cultural right on everything from same-sex marriage to abortion.

Trump hired two different expert vote data analysts to look into every claim of voter fraud. Both found there was very little to none, and none that could possibly change the outcome. One of them was Ken Block who said:

“We have all these unfounded claims of voter fraud. There are so many that it’s hard to believe it’s not true. But the reality is, it’s not true.”

and:

“Every single claim they asked me to look at was false.”

Trump has admitted in private and a couple times he admitted it publicly (you practically cried when he did that) but he's back to claiming he lost due to voter fraud. It keeps the moron faction of his followers riled up (like you) and is setting himself up to do the same if/when he loses this election.

No. Not necessarily. But watch what Halperin said on Tucker. He thinks Trump will win and Harris has a shot but it's low. He talked about outrage on both sides depending on what happens. Dems will loot and burn no matter how big Trump's margin is.

What he said about Harris is... she's unlikely to win but if she did it's almost certainly in a near 2000 style squeaker. He was talking about Shapiro and Whitmer and how they'd better be transparent and be able to explain any strange voting patterns or trends coming out of Philly or Detroit. If turnout is 50%, 55%, 60%, etc throughout every precinct, country, etc throughout the states but somehow magically 90%+ of the black people in Philly and Detroit who are the lowest propensity voters in those states all cast a mail in ballot for Harris the Governors had better have a good explanation for how something like they can happen. And there's only one way something like that can happen even if you ran the election 1000 x's. He knows they can't explain it. But that won't happen. Whitmer and Shapiro have their eyes on 2028.

To spot voter fraud, you look for weird trends or anomalies that only benefit one side and only happen in certain areas. This is Poly Sci 101.
