Couldn't agree more. Those catches were incredible. Did you happen to notice Cig taking copious notes during that start? At one point, I told my GF he must be writing a novel. Whatever it was, they found a way to stop that guy the rest of the game. And knocked their QB out of the game. I actually felt a little sorry for their backup. He looked less than enthusiastic about going against IU's fired up D.

I find it a bit surprising our short-run vs. long-run recruitment results are so different. In the end it's a pitch + NIL for both. Yet IIRC guys like Rice, Carlyle, Ware, and Ballo only visited IU and didn't even bother to go to another school to compare we had them so locked up. I'd guess the short run recruitments are less competitive and perhaps more transactional/NBA-like which is a better fit for Woody, but I'd think some of what works on the short-run recruitments should work on the long-run ones. Strange.

Those two catches certainly contributed to it. But we also started flat. A couple drops, some errant throws by Rourke, very soft coverage, not nearly as much pressure on Chiles. MSU made some incredible plays, but everyone knew their hot shot freshman receiver was capable of that.

2nd quarter on...we didn't allow them any opportunities to make plays like that.

Yea, it's true we don't have a signature win, as Kraft said PSU doesn't either (ILL at home?) and another in my opinion is Miami. We're short in this category right now.

I can only hope IU gets some offsetting credit for our domination so far. I cannot believe some of the scores and stats we've put up, which compares pretty favorably to other top-10/15 teams.

Unfortunately, I suspect the burden of proof will higher for IU vs. the big programs. It's a committee of people, and they'll probably have biases and incentives influencing them.

We'll find out more vs. pro talent heavy UM and of course OSU. Maybe we have a tough time vs. UM and/or get blown out vs OSU, I don't know, it's possible. But if we don't... wow.

My most sincere hope...that when Dolson, or whoever the AD is at the time, has the challenge of picking our next bball coach...that they use the Cignetti hire as a very strong frame of reference. NAIA, D3, D2, low level D1...who cares. Pick someone that has demonstrated success coaching the game of basketball...AND has the right blend of stubbornness and charisma, to lead the program.

The standard is the standard. Find a guy anything like Cignetti, for IU bball, and we'd become a bigger monster than we've ever been in the past.

Woodson will never be that. I would prefer we get moving on finding that, sooner rather than later. But on the flip side, I want IU bball to win games, and will hope we do so in every single one of them Woodson coaches. Even though a pretty strong case could be made that Woodson winning games this year isn't the best thing LONG TERM for IU bball.

Wow…I wonder if CA has turn in or turnout % for AA or Hispanic voters? Of course LA county is below the state average as is some of the Central Valley counties. This is really without precedent looking at 2020 numbers.

I honestly think you're selling CMW a little short. I'm not sure CAM would have been able to land as much talent with NIL. At least Woody can sell himself on the NBA experience and was smart enough to make end roads at the FL talent factories. CAM just seemed like fish out of water here.

CAM minus TJD might have looked like CTC's first 3 yrs. Maybe a little better...but not much.
