In my travels in and around Bton, mostly in the working class areas, I see plenty of Trump signs but not nearly the number I remember seeing in years past. I especially have noticed a distinct lack of the over-the-top shrine-like displays that were common in 2020. The support is there, but it's much more subdued. In a lot of cases, based on what I've heard people say, many former Trump supporters aren't willing to forget the J6 riots like so many here are. @Marvin the Martian lives and travels in much of the same areas I'm talking about; I'm curious as to whether he's had the same impression.
I am out in Montana becoming an expert on this Senate race. After hearing too many to count advertisements I can say Tester is a commie who wants to give immigration amnesty to all living beings in the universe. Sheehy wants to sell Montana to big money interests and public executions for anyone who has ever considered an abortion.
The good news, the candidate spots aren't too bad. But the other spots are pure garbage. Our failure is with outside groups driving wedges wherever they can with seemingly unlimited resources.
As to Bloomington, is the Kennedy sign still up on Tapp? I see fewer Trump signs than 16, maybe the same as 20. A good friend that hosts our Wednesday night games has a Trump flag (yes, he is faculty). I see more Harris signs than I did Biden but still not as many as Trump. My neighborhood is 4-1 Trump but it will be 4-2 when I get home.
Rumor has it that some activists are charting addresses with yard signs other than PDJT and making them available to illegal alien support groups. Expect Haitians and Venezuelan friends shortly.

The train is one of the highlights for me. I will let you know. We are going on the cheap, so your mileage may vary. We aren't getting a sleeping berth, just sleeping in coach. The recommendations are that is a mistake. In my youth I slept in Greyhounds all the time, so I, maybe mistakenly, assume the skill transfers. And my wife loves saving money.

My minion is obsessed with trains. Next summer I want to do that Silverado Durango train.
It was a couple weeks ago. (I deliver to World Wide but usually come from and return from the west.) He's had plenty of time to remove it but it's been several weeks after he dropped out.
I think we tried to book that one too late, so we did Royal Gorge a few years ago. I am sure the Silverton is even more stunning since it regularly wins "best train".
Kennedy is still on the ballot, so I guess he is committed.
Btw, yard signs mean absolutely nothing in a Trump election. Outside of the rural areas I saw very few Trump signs in 16 and 20 even in areas Trump won heavily. Seriously, why would a Trump supporter put one in their yard? You risk a Zeke or Hickory lobbing a molotov cocktail through your living room window. People with Harris signs in their yard don't have to worry about that.

We have made it to St Paul. Here, not so scenic. Out West it was very scenic.
For coach, the Greyhound comparison is accurate. A lot of people hop on and ride 3- 5 stops. There are a few going through, but not most.
The seats look like they should offer comfort, the cake is a lie. Sleeping in them is tough if you don't bring a pillow. If you have a row to yourself, curling up in the two seats seems very doable, some were doing that.
But the trains are very full, so no guarantees of getting a seat to oneself. Out west, cell signal was hard to find.
I would do it again, but either with a pillow and blanket or better, a sleeper car.
11 hours to cross Montana. Wow, a huge state. The locals in Kalispell/Whitefish were talking about how fast it is growing. A lot of work from home people from Seattle have moved to Montana.
Passenger rail, by law, has the right-of-way over freight. The tracks are owned by freight companies. Guess who actually gets the right of way?
