I wonder if other playoff schools have shut down transfer visits this week? I don't know if we'll ever get an honest answer, but I wonder if in hindsight the program might rethink shutting down visits after noon on Saturday.

I was wondering if some of that staff budget increase may go to staff to help this. 'Quality control' positions or something to continue with recruiting. Cig mentioned using it for additional staff.

It's a good question. It's all hands-on deck so having them see a playoff team preparing for its run to a natty could also work in our favor.
Auburn as no QBs. So if he had to leave Auburn to get playing time then we should pass.
He is currently at Incarnate Word. Know nothing about him but 3 prior colleges would present concern. A decent game against Alabama clip.
He was hurt at the start of the year at Auburn and the coach he committed to was fired after the 5th game of the year so he entered the portal. Started at TAMU the year prior and beat Bama.
Looks like Auburn is getting Jackson Arnold fwiw.

When did that happen? He was at Syracuse this past weekend and is expected to be at Colorado this weekend.
Yeah, and even if he weren't, the fact that anyone would suggest that spot is our 2nd highest priority behind QB (which I'd argue isn't our biggest priority either) needs to have themselves checked into a mental institution.

I'll be "that guy" and say that the portal results to date have been disappointing. Have my fingers crossed for Mendoza & Dawson. Maldonado is still out there and would seem to be a solid safety option....for some reason, the recruiting sites don't rate him high. Josh Moten and Hopper both visited....hope we still have shots there. I saw a recent story concerning Trayvon Rudolph from NIU....said he's visiting Iowa but has no P4 offers to date, so we may not be interested. Do we have any shot with WRs Jo Williams of Tulsa and Makai Jackson of App. St.? What about Nate Jackson, DE from App. St.? Or CB Trae Tomlinson (looks like he can also play FS)?
Portal is open through 12/28, then there is a spring portal. We'll see what happens.

Couple notes from other sites........apparently Matt Weaver 'expects' IU to announce some portal signings in the middle of next week, including a QB....that's double hearsay, so take it fwiw. Posters on that site (BTBs) are liking our chances with Mendoza. Apparently he visited last week....not sure this was publicly known....also, large DT Dominique Ratcliff is now listed as someone with mutual interest from IU. He finished a productive JR season at Texas St. this year.
Also, 2 BT TBs of note have entered the portal......Hemby from MD, and Dante Dowdell from Nebraska. Nebraska has had a large # of outgoing transfers this year......they can't seem to get it together.

Bottom line is that there are players at every school. The guy from Western Kentucky, he was courted by really good programs.,, I won’t be shocked when post season ends for IU that we don’t start seeing the portal heat up for us with some surprises.
