My golf buddy’s son while in college did a stint under both Tillerson and Sanders. Every interaction with Trump was pleasant with Trump inquiring about his family and how he was doing. His entire family was invited to Trump Tower for Christmas and Trump engaged all family members. Later during the son’s time working for Trump, when engaged with Trump he remembered family names.

Our problem is everyone goes into sports mode, how does this make my team win. That shouldn't even be discussed until the next campaign, right now we need to figure out how to stop it.
I have thought about fines if we can't jail people like this. Someone pointed out the issue. If a leader carries out something, we want them to return it and cooperate in looking for more. If the penalty is too high, some will try to hide the document(s) to protect themselves.
My wife asked a good question, why are these on paper? Allow people to access documents only from secure facilities on a computer with no connections to the outside world, np USB, no printer. Maybe that is an idea.
How do you make that completely secure? Plan on the Govt running their own fiber optic system and keeping it working?
The government already has secure computer systems. I think what Marvin is saying is that they should be used exclusively wherever possible, without any hard copies at all.
But who is to say someone can't hack it? Securely stored documents done properly takes a lot of that out of it.
Maybe someone could, but I'm pretty sure all of the systems on which classified info resides are physically separated from any outside networks.
Regardless, Marvin's point is we already use these systems in addition to paper copies for the technology-impaired octogenarians who rule us, so why not get rid of those paper copies, since they seem to be the ones that end up in garages and underwear drawers?

So the point is to add another layer of security because we can't trust our politicians, our Executive, our legislative, our Judiciary, our DOJ, our FBI, our CIA, our IRS, our DHS, our MIA, our DoD, our GOP, our DNC, our Dept of LGBTQ Education?
So just who exactly is going to develop and deploy this system that is infallible, that we CAN trust?
Which suddenly makes me ask. Just who in DC is actually in it for the good of the country, instead of for the good of themselves?
Why have two systems? We know everything is on computer to begin with. Having paper also doubles the attack area. Anyone can make mistakes, this eliminates a whole series of mistakes before we even get to trust.

I'm fairly certain the government is five steps ahead of you. Docs are probably already stored safely on 5.25 floppies in secure locations.
If you haven't worked in the security sphere in the military, you wouldn't believe how strict it is. For starters, at my first duty station, our workspace was accessed via a bank vault type door with firearms in racks on the wall inside the door. Your rank didn't matter and your security clearance meant nothing if your job didn't impose a "need to know" the information/material being guarded by the restriction. Clearance and rank wouldn't get you into our crypto relay center unless your duties required you to be there.

There are procedures in place to access and even remove TS/SCI documents, although it's difficult and rare.
What we've got now is a wink-and-a nod attitude by places like the National Archives that are supposed to secure these documents.
What we need are officials who take security seriously. And the only way to do that is to start locking up officials who blatantly disregard these procedures. The standard was set when Sandy Berger smuggled TS docs out in his underwear, was caught, and given a slap on the wrist.
And it's well known Hillary and her team smashed Blackberries with hammers and used bleach-bit to destroy server data.
Why would Trump, Biden, or anyone, think they can just take these documents and suffer any consequences? EDIT: Except us peons who actually work, or worked, every day with secure information. Instant jail time if we were ever found with these docs.
