If this lady ever leaves the county lines and visits California... she would have a meltdown. Its amazing how quick the country has got so fearful and insecure.
Used to be a country full of possibilities, brimming with confidence. Now with this undercurrent of fear and weakness, it sad how quickly it has de-evolved.

I live outside of LA and work in LA and I’m a minority all day long and it doesn’t bother me or any other whitey one little bit. There are 10 million people in this county and you never hear of anything racial EVER! I’m sure it must happen but it never hits the airwaves. All I see are people trying to do the right thing. Working hard, reaching out to those in need, little league soccer games, birthday parties, hiking, camping, hanging out at the beach, Friday nights in Santa Monica, Sunday cruises up the coast...
I’m telling you - you better take up a hobby or go do something for someone else and stop the fixation on the negative or what you perceive is negative. It’s going to steal your life.
I just heard recently that we now live at the greatest time in world history. Over half the world is now middle-class for the first time in history. There’s more opportunity today than ever before. It’s just crazy that so many Americans think things are so bad and are going to go through life and not see that it was right there in front of them to enjoy.
I would love for there to be a law that if someone bashes this country they are immediately sent to South America or Europe or even Australia for an extended amount of time. It only takes stepping across the border to realize how great this place is. My daughter just spent two weeks in France and yes she had a great time. Her boyfriend is French and they stayed with his Grandma in Corsica, so she got a real taste of the lifestyle. But, in her own words, she couldn’t wait to get back home to America. And, she lives in Houston! lol Don’t get me wrong, I love Houston - lived there for four years, but come on, it’s not France! Any of you that have traveled know exactly what I mean.
Learn to look for the good, it’s a choice.

Not really. Millions of people got hope and change under President Obama. Turned economy around, added millions to healthcare, respect around the world. That hope and change sounds really nice right now. Instead of the hate and vitriol coming from the WH every single day.

I watched Fox and Friends for a really longtime when I did the cable thing but that was it. Oh I did watch the no spin zone from time to time. I did turn it all off in order to get away from watching Obama, Pelosi, Reid which really angered me.... so I do get it. But it will change. Hannity never appealed to me.
Question is, can we both get tired of it and agree we would rather live in peace and allow the other side some compromise in order to have that peace? The last two years has been a focused effort by the left to ignore it and try and continue the march. I think until there is a truly inward reflection of what exactly the impact of hope and change spoke of above by Zeke had on a large portion of the population, we are going to be destined to continue to Linger in this scrum format.

that i saw or heard nothing about Trump or immigration in that 33 sec video. just one lady yelling at another. both white females.
and i have absolutely zero interest in searching the internet to investigate that someone said something uncouth to someone else somewhere.
i have no doubt that people of all races, sexes, religions, nationalities, say uncouth things about other people all the time.
i get personally attacked here daily by total and complete morons who have thousands of posts, and i've never seen them post anything of actual substance or insight ever.
and because i find fault with both sides, i get personally attacked from both sides every time a poster doesn't like what i said, but knows they can't credibly refute what i said.

and we should never know what these would be dictators for life think about money in govt, campaign finance, corporate personhood, monopoly power, govt power, open internet, privacy, universal healthcare, and other life affecting topics, because if we did know their leanings on these things, we might not approve or decline someone who might vote as we wish or don't wish on abortion.
currently the thinking seems to be, as long as the mini dictators for life vote our way on abortion, they can throw us under the bus on anything and everything else, because abortion is all that matters.
on a side note, take away abortion, and how different would our entire election process be.

Now, if you want to talk about legal vs illegal, home-dwellers vs homeless, city vs burbs or Angels vs Dodgers then you are correct, there’s a whole bunch of feelings on both sides of those issues, but racism as is spoken about on this thread? Hell no. You’d be in jail within 30 minutes out here. Does it exist in the hearts of men and women? We all know the answer to that and those will have to answer for that, but acted out on a daily basis? Show me where as I’m all over this city every week.
My son has lived here 10 years, Silver Lake area...every race and creed walking the streets together every day. If racism was an issue in LA there’d be a riot every day. Yet, this white boy (and definitely the minority) doesn’t feel threatened at the least in any area I’ve been in. I’ve lived in Houston, St. Louis, Orlando, and New York. St. Louis is by far the worst, not even close. LA...ha! This is a pup-town.

Meanwhile, there's all kinds of racism problems in Los Angeles. Problems with the LAPD. Problems in LAUSD. Heck, there was a story that got some significant play this summer right up the street from your boy in Atwater Village. And the fact that you suggest that a Caucasian is a minority in Santa Monica or Silver Lake is laughable. Both places are over 60% white. Maybe that's why you don't hear much about it. You're stuck in your own echo chamber.
Now that doesn't mean that racism is as significant a problem as it might be in places like Houston or St. Louis, Orlando, or New York. But, to say that you never hear about it here only suggests that you don't want to hear about it.
