I guess it depends on what you mean by "matters". If you mean impeachment, that ship has long sailed. The Senate isn't voting impeachment no matter what evidence comes out. In the 2020 election, if it really is coming down to less than 1% in several states, than yet it might well matter.
The House impeaches and it seems many are itching to do it. Senate convicts and that will take a lot more heavy lifting.
Right, and that's the issue. The Senate just isn't going to get 2/3s to convict. More than 1/3 ran on the platform of following Trump into oblivion. A House vote doesn't really mean much, the 37% or so will just claim it is 'deep state'.
Let's just hope we can get Trump out of office without a Constitutional crisis or a civil war. Hopefully if he is defeated in the 2020 election he will leave office but I kind of doubt it will be that easy. He is aware once he leaves office he is no longer safe from prosecution. Perhaps he will resign before he leaves office so Pence can pardon him? Hopefully, he doesn't do something completely crazy even by his standards in the next two years.
A House vote to impeach would require a Senate trial and vote. The deep state stuff is stupid.
There is no provision for a defeated office holder to refuse to leave. What in the world are you drinking? There are state provisions which differ state-to-state about what happens if no one is elected to a position where there is a sitting incumbent who didn't run. But there is no provision for a President who is defeated to refuse to leave office. Who makes this stuff up?

I'm mostly speaking in regards to the politics/election. If the best the Dems can say is that Trump paid off two whores then that's not worth a hill of beans. (And I think the media is way over playong that. I think the Dems should shut up with the I word and wait on the investigation to finish. I care about the Russian stuff, not the tabloid trash.) There better end up being some very serious "there there" with the Russian stuff.
About impeachment, if a tape emerged tomorrow of Trump talking to Putin on the phone during the campaign and Putin offering assistance to his campaign in exchange for a reduction of sanctions, then I do believe he would be impeached. There has to be overwhelming evidence of significant wrongdoing. I dont think we can eliminate the possibility of such evidence existing.

The part you underlined is a generality about state law. There is no federal law other than how the election for President is held and the time of his taking office and the oath requirement. I was not referring to the Presidency when I offered the state information.If that happens, we can appoint Ladoga for the position.
