Messi to miami. Apple adidas profit sharing
WOW. Thought we'd see that maybe in 2-3 years, but not this soon. Has to be the biggest name to come to America to play since Pele, right? Have to pull for Inter Miami in the US Open Cup tonight, as that would potentially bring Messi to Cincinnati on August 23!

Buy tickets now! My guess is august for when he would start playing. And definitely. Messi is the greatest ever.

I have a buddy that’s way up in the inter Miami organization. He said they are really really bad. Just did a terrible job of bldg a team. And Messi doesn’t run. The whole thing could be ugly. Will sell a ton of pink shirts tho

I don't know how easy player movement is in MLS (b/c i don't pay attention) but wouldn't EVERYBODY try to get to Miami?

I don’t know how all that works either. It’s honestly not a great fit in general. The league has gotten younger physical and frenetic

Sadly, it turns out that they have a draw to decide which teams host the semifinal games. So, tickets are not on sale yet. What's funny is that for the games so far tickets have started at $10, and they have not sold tickets for one entire side of the stadium. Last night's game was packed, unless you saw a shot of the completely empty east side of the stadium.

They're on Seat Geek - starting at $440.

Looks like tickets for all of the other Inter Miami homes games are suddenly ~$200 and up. I know for a fact they were less than $30 last week.

Inter Miami at NY Red Bulls start at $575. Inter at LA $660. Wonder if Charlotte might open the upper bowl for Oct. 21 (currently $330 for that game)

In contrast, Inter Miami at Philly, June 24, are $61. LOL

So is that the same drill in Chicago? They close the top? You know I had a feeling he’d go to Miami. I really did. I even looked at ticket prices. There is not one opportunity that doesn’t just sail right over my head

Not sure about Chicago, but I assume so. They used to do that here in Cincinnati when FCC played at UC, at least for the first few seasons (stadium seats 40,000).

I thought Chicago had a soccer only stadium. I guess they moved back to soldier. Tickets are expensive so apparently sections closed

I just read about transfers. So mls does have transfer windows. July 5 to august 2 is the next one. I bet we don’t see Messi play until August

How does the transfer window affect when he might play? So he can't officially sign until July 2? But why would they wait until August 2? By then they would be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

I think he has to let his K expire which is June 30. Then wait for the mls window to open. Then vaca. Then get back in shape. Think how much he has played. Wc etc.

Thats why I asked you about those concrete/astro turf stadiums... that would shorten his career by a couple of years. His team must have gone to every stadium out there to do their due diligence.

How much is he getting paid and how are they funding it? Doesn't Inter Maimi have one f the highest wage bills in the league already?

He’s going to be miserable. Hot. Turf. Horrible travel distances.

Changing name to Messi League Soccer. No rules apply to him. Every club has a Messi tax. Apple profit share from subscriptions. Adidas profit share. Inter ownership piece etc

Correct about the move. Did so a couple of years ago. Whole upper section closed:

What was this someone was saying about MLS overtaking MLB? Haha. No.

I actually think baseball will see a resurgence. Football will be dead within 10-15 years. Or, at least, we'll wistfully reminisce on it like we do heavyweight boxing today.

Basketball is truly global now. Soccer is already global and will absolutely grow expnoentially (even more than we see now, the money's too great).

Pinch me.
Messi is coming to Cincinnati August 23. Absolutely insane to think that Lionel Messi is coming to play FC Cincinnati, in a real match (not an exhibition). Tickets are going to hit $1,000+ on the secondary market. (Hell, people are paying $2,000+ to hear some blonde woman sing some songs while 65,000 teenagers scream along.)
