Remember we can’t take everything President Trump says seriously. Cutting defense spending in half is one of those things. The odds of that are 1 in a trillion and that’s generous.
If self-described limited government conservatives can’t stomach temporary decreases (interruptions…whatever is the correct term) in federal employment how in the hell will they handle an actual decrease in the size of the federal workforce?

I think we really need to be honest with ourselves…we want to continue to bitch about it but we don’t want any of our buddies to be adversely affected (lose their jobs)

If I was operating from the premise that every government job is unnecessary and every government worker is worthless, I’d agree with you. That premise is bullshit.

If he's leading the charge... cool. Name him then. Why the secrecy behind who is leading the agency responsible for all the cuts is all anyone is asking, which shouldn't be such a big deal.

I’m seeing good DoD organizations with important missions being adversely impacted. I expect there will be some embarrassing mission failures within government fairly soon.
Yeah…a guy I went to school with was complaining on social media (according to my boss) about losing his job as a probationary employee. Guess what he is….a damn physician.
I am completely comfortable in my uncomfortableness with all of this even though I agree with some of the things being cut.

If the mission package is so fragile that losing a couple of first year probationary civilian employees will wreck it then I'd have to suggest that someone didn't do a very good job of setting it up...
Cross-training redundancy is usually the key for most successful mission structures... If it wasn't set it up well enough to survive a little reduction in force (at the lowest levels) then the mission either isn't really that important or the leadership is severely lacking... (or perhaps both)...
Hiring freeze and firing probationary employees is having a big negative impact - that was across the board. They originally thought they were exempt because what they do impacts national security. It's also not only at the lowest levels. It's impacting GS13s, 14s, and 15s too. Plus, the administration is asking for so much information that answering that is taking all of their time. These are very hard-working people. Most of them former military. They believe in their mission because it's important. They're not happy in the least. They're working hard to keep the train on the tracks, but it's unsustainable. Expect some mission failures that will be very embarrassing for the administration.
