Soccer

Pep’s Barca is my favorite in 50 years of watching. Carryover to Spain during euros and wc. Especially euros. Just long stretches where the other team never touched the ball. There were moments in games where xavi and iniesta would stand ten feet apart passing it back and forth, 5, 10, 15 times just 25 yards from goal and no one would even attempt to get it. The technical ability reached that level. It was mesmerizing. The pinnacle. If you want to see soccer performed at it’s highest level watch the 5-0 Barca win over Real Madrid
Different strokes. You like ass I like tits.

I like the unpredictablity. And not think I am watching a system being executed well.

I have a buddy from Aberdeen. He loves parking the bus soccer. Thinks the defensive discipline and organization is a joy to watch. I want to punch him in the head. So yes you are correct

I definitely need to watch this when I have time later. The snippets I watched were fascinating. I think if more people took the time to try to understand the "plays" teams were trying to execute the more they would enjoy soccer. On the other hand, sometimes the play starts to look a bit robotic to me, lacking creativity (though maybe the latter sometimes may have more to do with the lack of talent on the pitch).

I also find that, like American football, I can sometimes learn a lot just by focusing on one player - especially the midfielders.
Try this one. One of McM's favorites.

Back when Mourinho wasn't the most bitter man on the planet.

Good grief. How could anyone like that style of soccer? It's like the soccer equivalent of Iowa football, minus the defense scoring. I get why some teams might need to play that style at times. But, to actually enjoy watching it? Yikes.

No idea. It’s awful

I'm not reading this thread, but do you think Richmond FC will win next Wednesday?
LOL No idea, but it seems clear that it will be Ted's last game as manager.

More importantly, do you think the show will work - as a spinoff or simply retitled as, say, "Nate the Great" or "Nate and Roy" - without Ted Lasso? Are other cast members now too big to stick around for a spinoff? Brett Goldstein and Hannah Waddingham might be. I hope the show continues in some form, provided they are able to keep some of the writing talent. As it stands, I put the show in my top-10 favorites of all-time - possibly near the top.

Seems pretty certain, or:

Maybe Ted won't be manager at all. He was ready to tell Rebecca something at the end there. Maybe he leaves on the spot and Nate steps in and leads Richmond FC in the last game.

Hadn't thought of that possibility. I could see that happening.

Luton Town in the PL next season. If you dont know where Luton is; it's a little north of North London. They will claim they are part of Greater London. But not sure Londoners would reciprocate that gesture.

Its a shitty ugly town. Built for pre-WW2 factories powered by coal --- and the crappy terrace houses that came with it.

But they have a quaint stadium -- capacity 10,000+!!!!

Imagine playing there. You can hear every single person swearing during the game like he's standing next to you -- whether the footballers on the pitch or the TV audience!!!

Antony should probably sit that game out. He'll be in the stands before halftime.

Still anti-Qatar?

Six Glazer siblings to retain Man Utd stakes under Ratcliffe offer

Billionaire seeks enough B shares to take control in a years-long phased takeover of club

Possibly State-owned* v Bootstrapped takeover By Ratcliffe with the six cyants still there?

* I am starting to wonder if it isn't a private bid since he hasnt made a bid that has bowled the Glazers over after 4 tries.
No. My footballing soul is cheap and for sale. Make me an offer Qatar.

I’m only concerned with killing the treble today. Let’s f*cking put these shits in their rightful place. Little brothers amirite?

Club owners never come into my consciousness when I think of United. Even when Martin Edwards who supposedly was some perv who snuck into women's bathrooms.... allegedly -- that was his biz. Not United.

Anyway, I am starting to wonder if its not a private bid on the part of Jassim. How can the state of Qatar not blow Ratty off the water? Jassim seems to be working on a tight budget.

I am not too hopeful tonight -- more injuries again.
Lets see what wild plans ETH can cook up -- if OGS can beat Pep 50% of the time, I should expect ETH to have a decent go at it.

My old boss lived next door to Glazer. Said they are horrible people.

As an aside this 7v7 million dollar tourney accdg to some friends Is a real hoot.

They need the luck?

City’s eventual fall from grace shall be so fulfilling. Assuming the FA HAS SOME BALLS.

13sec! Wtf
One out of ten. The other nine would have been 20 rows deep.

Also that yellow on AWB. As much as I hate to say it, all cards need to be open to VAR. He now has to play the entire second half on a yellow. Total bullshit.

Who was the city player who kicked out at Shaw... Not even a yellow!
AWB was clumsy. Ref could easily have closed an eye on that. But the kicking out foul? Not even a yellow?

To be sure the only players who should be on cards are Silva and Casemiro.

The handball was dumb but that’s the rules.

Inter Miami? How are they going to afford him? Wrexham next?
Beckham and the crew have purportedly convinced the league to make certain accommodations. He would also be a part owner of inter miami. They are bldg a ridiculous mixed use facility/shopping dev too

I mean how do you turn down the money? I know I know. He doesn’t need it. But, he probably does a shit town of charitable work and I suspect most of it would go there.

The Middle East option might just be too good to pass up.

He’s a different player today. I’m not sure I would want to go Barca and have things go poorly

Fantastic. @JamieDimonsBalls zlatan announced his retirement at Milan and the visiting Verona fans booed. Zlatan stopped and said: “Keep booing. This is the biggest moment in your year seeing me.”

We’ve lost another legend

He's so damn good and also funny:

Speaking to ESPN's Gab & Juls Show back in April, the legendary Swedish forward revealed his gratitude for his experience with the LA Galaxy, who he played for between 2018 and 2019. He said: "I'm very thankful for MLS because they gave me the chance to feel alive. But the problem was I was still too alive. So I was too good for the whole competition. That is what I showed.

He added: "I'm the best ever to play in MLS and that is not me having ego or trying to show off now. That is true. And when I was there, I enjoyed [it]. I had a good time. And I like the way they were working, the way they were doing the marketing stuff."

Truly a legend. The documentary on him is a good watch
