Ivan Toney = Cleveland State

FA will stop at nothing to make sure they do absolutely nothing about Man City.

Ha! Can you imagine being in that kind of shape lol. As I type I am literally in the drive thru at shake shack
I cannot imagine being in that kind of shape again (although my trainer/coach claims he can get me there - LOL). Resting pulse back then was under 40, as measured by a nurse who happened to have her head laying on my bare chest at the time.

46 per fitbit. So, could be 40, could be 82. Who knows.

No nurse though.

It's only been what? 34 years of sitting and typing?

You know . . . big firm stuff. Like what MTIOTF used to do . . . .

Good luck!!

Impressive player. Always liked him. Can play anywhere in the midfield. Shit, he could probably play up top if you wanted him to.
I know you don’t but I absolutely LOVE graelish’s game. He’s such a bitch and a shithead instigator and so smooth on the ball. Love it

That half was perfection. Mercy.
And I'll say one thing about Pep. He has a vision of what he wants to do and goes and gets the players he wants to do it with. He's one of those managers (like Wenger) who's in it for the perfection and beauty of it. No other sport offers such an opportunity for a man to direct others in a more creative way than soccer.

Perhaps American Football. Perhaps.

Exactly. It’s the difference between pep and PSG

Well, that scans. I'm so out of the loop on MLS i figured they already had one.
I saw that.

FC Cincinnati is on fire. 8-3-1, 7-0-0 at home (9-0-0 if you count their two Cup games). Only loss is an inexplicable 5-1 route by St. Louis.
We’re going your other direction. Our big Brazilian forward has been out and the team has fallen apart. Didn’t you lose Acosta or whatever? There’s just very little balance/depth on these teams

Acosta dislocated (?) a shoulder (teammate popped it back in so Acosta could take the penalty shot - which he made). But Acosta missed less than 2 MLS games. He's been back for a while.

Well I hate to crash the party but this happened...Tragedy

So the first reply I get is this...OMG Burr

I saw that with my own eyes in a rugby match. My teammate's shoulders popped out.

His dad, albeit a plastic surgeon -- I always asked my mate to get me an internship at his dad's practice --- called his son across the field and just popped & readjusted his shoulder.

Then asked his son to go back & play -- with a don't be a pussy attitude.

I had a cracked tailbone from someone kneeing me in a rugby match -- but played on through anger and adrenaline. (Filing your studs on your boots come in handy then.) Got sent off later in the game!

Must have taken me 6-8 months to recover from it -- kept on re-injuring it. Its like being tasered up the arse every time you re-injure.

Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior said "La Liga belongs to racists" after being subjected to racist chants at Valencia.

Tebas' response was even more amazing

The outspoken chief replied on Twitter: "Since those who should not explain to you what it is and what it can do @LaLiga in cases of racism, we have tried to explain it to you, but you have not shown up for either of the two agreed dates that you requested yourself.
"Before criticising and insulting @LaLiga, it is necessary that you inform yourself properly @Vinijr. "Do not let yourself be manipulated and make sure you fully understand each other's competencies and the work we have been doing together.
Apparently, La Liga is investigating the issue of objects (bananas) being thrown on the field and not the chants/abuse!!

There will be a tipping point where black players will stop going over to La Liga.

Very interesting video -- A tactical contrarian:

I definitely need to watch this when I have time later. The snippets I watched were fascinating. I think if more people took the time to try to understand the "plays" teams were trying to execute the more they would enjoy soccer. On the other hand, sometimes the play starts to look a bit robotic to me, lacking creativity (though maybe the latter sometimes may have more to do with the lack of talent on the pitch).

I also find that, like American football, I can sometimes learn a lot just by focusing on one player - especially the midfielders.

That's why I never liked Pep's Barca -- it's about players supporting the system. Its all too fascist an approach to me. Its just a shift.

The old ways were less system-orientated and more individual flair -- like Fergie's old United. Get good players. Then just give them general instructions and let the players express themselves (his fav phrase.)
But the systems approach broke down the more laisse-faire approach gradually.

The Flumminesse approach seems to be a combo of both. But you can only do it with flair streetballers first players which you can get in abundance in the futsal games or the Copacabana beach.

Its been coached out of the players by being too structured in the UK. Rooney was probably the last street baller of any stature.

But its interesting -- if you get it right, I am not sure how you defend against it. Fussy logic football.

Pep’s Barca is my favorite in 50 years of watching. Carryover to Spain during euros and wc. Especially euros. Just long stretches where the other team never touched the ball. There were moments in games where xavi and iniesta would stand ten feet apart passing it back and forth, 5, 10, 15 times just 25 yards from goal and no one would even attempt to get it. The technical ability reached that level. It was mesmerizing. The pinnacle. If you want to see soccer performed at it’s highest level watch the 5-0 Barca win over Real Madrid
