So now what for Comer,Jordan and the others?

And that is my point. IANAL, nor am I proficient at tax law, but I have to imagine that if the IRS agents are given the responsibility to investigate Hunter Biden's tax evasion, then the official scope of their purview would only include Hunter's financials. Unless you have some evidence that Joe Biden was directly involved in assisting Hunter's crime, enough to form a basis of investigation, then they shouldn't be allowed to freely peruse through all of Joe's financials.
This is probably simplistic, but if I am understanding the timeline here:

Hunter gets big paycheck from Chinese business.
Hunter gives some of the money to his dad, Joe
Joe reports the receiving of the money in his taxes.
Hunter files his taxes but has either mistakenly or willfully (doesn't really matter) reported a lower number and paid less taxes than he should have.
IRS investigates and finds out that Hunter reported the wrong number, charges him.
Hunter pays the deficient amount, probably along with a penalty fee, might serve some jail time for lying about his numbers.

What part of that process makes you believe that the IRS agent should be allowed to look at all of Joe's financials? Unless you have some sort of basis to conclude that Joe was colluding with Hunter to hide the money, that would be a violation of Joe's privacy (as an American citizen, not even as a president).

If Hunter had given $1000 of his millions to the Make-A-Wish foundation, the IRS agents don't have the right to audit all of Make-A-Wish's financials to ascertain if Make-A-Wish committed a crime with the $1000 that they received.
I suspect irs agents can look at anything they want if they have reason to believe it may lead to tax infractions. Tho I don’t know

IRS agent: "Mr. Superior, I want to look at Joe's taxes."

IRS agent: "I believe that Joe has committed a Tax infraction."

I don't know if this applies, but I had remembered this going through a little bit ago.

We’ve done this before. I’ve linked the articles reflecting Biden’s contribution to inflation. Then you scattered off. Wages are still behind. Gas is still up. But most importantly remember any benefit we see is not bc of Biden but in spite of Biden. Biden came in with free everything and inflation spiked. Manchin cut him off. The Dems came in and attacked cops, bail project bs and violent crime spiked. We saw the consequences of far left Joe’s actions and cities began retreating from defunding police and Biden’s efforts to be transformative were blocked by manchin and the house.

The benefits we see are bc Biden can’t get what he wants done.

As I said. Cost of living, gas, violent crime, global affairs, everything was better under trump. Your animus for same clouds your judgment. Only a fool would support Biden. His approval rating of 1/3 isn’t a coincidence. Congrats for being in that group of partisans
Scatter off? That's pretty funny. Unlike you, I have a job and a life. I have no time (or interest) in patrolling and derailing every thread, 24/7, like you do. Regardless of the topic, you usually manage to ultimately make the thread all about you. Your self-obsession is truly something to behold. Frankly, I think most of what you post about yourself is complete bullshit. When can we expect the big reveal about the celebrity spokesperson who's going to promote your gummy business? Lol.

But back to inflation. It's a global problem. Most inflationary factors have little to nothing to do with who the US president is, and our inflation rate is substantially better than much of the rest of the world. So is our economy. Given a broad swath of economic data including key economic indicators like inflation, energy prices, GDP, the unemployment rate, the long-term unemployment rate, the 2023 IMF GDP forecast, and the 2023 IMF unemployment rate forecast, we're doing better than most of the rest of the world including G7 countries.

If you don't want to give Biden any credit that's fine. But it's just stupid and illogical to repeatedly blame him for a bad economy when we don't have a bad economy at all.

But here (below) is more of what's coming under a second Trump term. A strongman regime should be exciting for you and your fellow far-righties.

you're always trying to get personal. btw it's jim mcmahon with a much larger announcement/partnership forthcoming. :)

biden's policies increased inflation here. and remember he wanted to keep going but got blocked. how much worse would he have made it? i'll take trump any day over biden, as would most of america at this point. another four years of biden is far more dangerous than trump. trump has complied with the system at every turn since he left office. he's not holed up on the island behind a militia. he's participating in the court process.

dem policies have made life more expensive, kids fall behind with draconian covid bs, cities more dangerous with defunding and bail bs, border nonsense, on and on and on. we'd be lucky to have trump back if biden is the alternative.

as for this board of course it's no fun for you. why would it be. no one wants to engage with you because you have no personality. you want to post trump is a dictator all day. why would you enjoy this board if no one ever has any fun engagement with you. you and hickory playing board tennis. yuck

shocking.

I suspect you have no clue how it went but are willing to give conservative propaganda the benefit of the doubt from your completely non-partisan point of view ;)
you have a lot of experience with federal agencies? Public administration? is that where your knowledge rests? we're still looking for it you know

yeah i'm sure you do. i trust you're as unlikable in life as you are here. just a troll with no friends. who the f would want to work with you or talk to you about anything. as for the gummy business it's jim mcmahon with a larger announcement to follow shortly. so go f yourself.

biden's policies increased inflation HERE HERE HERE HERE. READ. and remember he wanted to keep going but got blocked. how much worse would have made it? i'll take trump any day over biden, as would most of america.

as for this board of course it's no fun for you. you don't know how to make anything fun. you dont' know how to engage with people. no wants to talk to you on this board or anywhere. you're a ****ing drip. you just want to post your partisan obsession bullshit about trump. how could that possibly be fun. trump is killing biden in the polls because people don't like biden. what's more people are sick of people like you and your endless obsession. seriously go F yourself.
Too funny. So I'm not popular and have no friends? Has a 13 year-old girl hijacked your account?

Jim McMahon? The football player who was relevant thirty years ago? Yeah, he'll definitely drive sales.

My partisan obsession with Trump? Again, hilarious. I happen to like living in a representative democracy where presidents respect the time-honored tradition of the peaceful transfer of power, abide by election results, and don't corruptly attempt to remain in power after they lose. That's the shit of banana republics and dictatorships. I'm not a fan of those.

This board is a nice diversion for me, but you're ruining it. One guy commented last week how dark and brooding you've become and suggested that your constant insults and putdowns of people who dare to disagree with you have driven him away. Another guy who obviously watches your rants and antics, but rarely posts here, provided you with a book title that you could clearly benefit from, but you laughed him off. You're a mess, dude. You probably should look into getting some help.

Too funny. So I'm not popular and have no friends?
everyone knows jim. who woudl ever want to engage with you. you've shown your personality. you have zero sense of humor, never write anything interesting or entertaining, just trump bad all the time. and believe me don't ever offer advice. you're the last guy on earth i'd want to be like. if you get a text or a phone call a month from a friend i'd be shocked. get help. change.

as for the diversion lol. bc not all of us agree that trump is the evil dictator you make out. trump sucks. i hope we get someone else. but i don't obsess over him like you or believe he's going to destroy america. we had four years of trump. biden has done far more damage. and your memory must be short. his entire presidency the board was one gif or meme after another posted. now we got biden and he's dogshit and the coin flipped and you and a few other dems on the board "don't like what the board has become." lol too bad. don't vote for biden.

we've had good discussions and been laughing and joking for two days and here you come with your usual garbage. TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP. There are reporting and tax issues with foreign money. It matters a lot if Hunter laundered foreign money for Joe.

So what is your opinion on the trumps dealing in Saudi Arabia and china?

So Comer was on Maria's whinefest this morning, and I just can't help wondering how stupid do they think we are?
Why in the world would cash tranfers from Biden to his brother as a loan, and then Jim repaying Joe be a problem when all the transactions ocurred in 2018? Do they expect us to believe that China waited until 2017 when Biden LEFT the Govt to send him money as part of some scheme to gain access to power and buy influence?

That doesn't even make sense. If China was trying to gain influence and power within the US Govt, wouldn't the fist step be to actually target someone who was actually IN Govt? There are 50 Senators, 435 Congress people and a host of other people who were actually a part of the Govt in 2017-2018. Yet for some reason the Chinese wanted to bribe someone who was basically retired from Govt and had no access to offer? What in the world would the Chinese have to gain by paying Joe Biden $$ Millions in 2018?

This continues to be an attempt to "impeach" someone desperately in search of an actual "impeachable offense". More accurately it's a desperate attempt to please Trump who craves finding dirt on Biden to deflect from his own legal nightmare. He wants to muddy the waters and believes by establishing a false equivalency he can downplay his own crimes.

No doubt it will work with his base, many of whom are prone to blindly swallow what Comer is peddling without batting an eye. Again in this video Comer tries to equate whatever he thinks happened in 2018 with China "trying to gain access to the President's son."

Pretty sure Comer knows that in 2018 Hunter was NOT the President's son. But the fact that he uses that language is more proof that he's trying to conflate Hunter's position now as the first son, with the actual role he filled in 2018 as the surving son of a FORMER VP but otherwise Private Citizen...

Both Comer and Maria are slick and engaging in disengenuous attempts to alter history... Check out this word salad...

"the initial transfer of more than $5 Million from a Chinese Company IN 2017". She then blabbers on talking about this email from a bank official in 2018, and his warning about China "targeting the children of politicians."

What she conveniently fails to explain is how that would apply to Hunter in 2018? What influence/access to power would Hunter have in 2018, 2 yrs AFTER his father LEFT Govt?

Does she think we're stupid enough to believe that the Chinese would pay $5 Million in order to gain access and influence to someone who no longer had any power? How ridiculous does that sound and how stupid do you have to be to believe it could possibly be true?

Unfortunately for the target audience of this video, that's essentially a rhetorical question...

Who reminds you to breathe?

When he testified, I said that is enough for at least a special prosecutor. Which we got. So I don't understand why we need to keep fighting over this here while the investigation is ongoing.
Like you didn't 'keep fighting over there here while the" Mueller "investigation is ongoing?

lmao You can't be serious.

Just exactly how much "influence" did Joe Biden have in 2017 / 2018 to affect policy in a government that consisted of Trump in the White House, A House controlled by Republicans, and a Senate controlled by Republicans?

And even if you go with the theory that this was part of the "long game", where they were buying him off in 2017 to pay dividends in 2021+
A) That's a pretty expensive gamble considering Joe wasn't exactly the initial front-runner. And,
B) What is the particular policy that Biden has set during his presidency that has specifically benefitted China?

And again, the point of this thread is not even whether or not Joe has committed an impeachable offense. We have plenty of threads on that already. It is pointing out the hypocrisy of how Jordan, Comer, etc. are demanding subpoenas be enforced when they themselves ignored them when they were the ones being subpoenaed.
Well, there's this little issue of claiming the cash transfers are 'loan' payments, in order to avoid paying taxes.

That's an issue whether you're a private citizen or President.

Not much if they reported the income and paid taxes.

No one with as low net worth as Hunter Biden forgets to pay $2M in taxes.

Maybe between giving 1/2 to “The Big Guy” and buying whores, he didn’t have money left to pay his taxes?
Lol, maybe he learned his whoring ways from Trump. At least none of us voted for hunter

they blocked what he wanted in build back better for one. the s. ct. knocked out others such as his endless eviction stays
Hey Murt, have you seen any charging stations put in by the government from the infrastructre bill that was passed?

Me neither.

There are reporting and tax issues with foreign money. It matters a lot if Hunter laundered foreign money for Joe.
Oh come one - those payments from Joe's brother's wife was just for a loan...... IRS should pay no mind.

I saw gas today for $2.99. Is that what you mean by "Gas is still up"?

I’m sure that committee is as stupid as the rest of congress. I just want to know why the irs agents were blocked and have the leads they wanted to pursue pursued. If part of that is via hunter depo great. We should all want that.
So, does Hunter even know why the two IRS agents claim they were blocked?

If they're truly, honestly trying to learn why/if the IRS was blocked, wouldn't it be helpful to depose someone on the inside of the IRS rather than the taxpayer on the outside of the IRS?
Or maybe they have documents and records they want Biden to explain

The odds are sky high that the GOP will screw this up. Trey Gowdy was a good interrogator but they don't have anyone like him now. Comer has shown the limits of his leadership skills in the previous hearings.

Fear of public ineptness is a good reason for the GOP to oppose Hunter Biden's request for his testimony to be televised.

"Fear of public ineptness is a good reason for the GOP to oppose Hunter Biden's request for his testimony to be televised."
And this gets us back to the original premise of this thread and what a lying idiot Comer is...

There are two seperate taped appearances of Comer on various right wing shows being interviewed and promoting the possibility of subpoenaing witnesses, ie Jim and Hunter Biden. Speaking offhandedly Comer clearly says something to the effect that "they need to come in and clear this up. They can either come in for a deposition OR appear before our Committee, THEIR CHOICE.

The video below contains both those instances as well as discussing what Hunter's lawyer (Abbe Lowell) said in his original reply to the subpoena. He directly refernced both Comer appearances and stated that in accordance with Comer's previous offer Hunter was notifying them of his intent to take them up on the offer and appear publicly before the Committee. Lowell further embarrassed Comer by spelling out the reason they declined the offer to come in for a deposition, the Committe's track record of lying...

Now Comer evidently forgot about these previous offers, because he is trying to now change his tune and demand a deposition. That makes him look like enough of a fool to begin with. But then he compounds his idiocy by trying to claim that the idea of a public hearing is simply something the HB team made up out of thin air, when as the tapes show HE (Comer) was the one who made the offer, and now is desperately trying to backtrack...

The letter threatening a contempt of Congress charge vs Hunter is equally farcical. It's signed by not only Comer but by Jim Jordan as well. Our Maga friends are likely unaware that Jordan established the precedent for ignoring Congressional subpoenas and threats to be held in contempt of Congress when he refused to testify before the Jan 6 Committee.

The reason people like Comer keep making fools of themselves is because they've been backed into a corner. It's largely their own faultbecause they've allowed the MTGs and Goetzs to set the agenda. Both are in deep red districts full of true believers, so they aren't in danger of losing their seats.

At this point depending on whether or not they hold the vote on a formal inquiry prior to Xmas break, the GOP has at most a 2 seat majority of people who might possibly vote yes on a formal inquiry. That number shrinks to a single person if they can't hold the vote prior to McCarthy's resignation.

And all of that presupposes that every single one of the 18 or so moderate Pubs who represent districts Biden won decide they are more swayed by the threat of a far right primary challenger than the problems they will encounter from Biden voters in their district in the general election.

So why is Comer putting his own GOP members (and moderates who basically gave them their majority) in such a dire situation? Having to publicly vote is basically a death threat for most of those Reps. Vote No and they lose to a far right challenger that will likely cost the Pubs the seat. Vote yes and they are the candidate who has to face a district full of angry Biden voters which again likely costs the Pubs the seat...

It's a kamikaze choice for Comer, forcing a vote which will likely doom the GOP's majority. But because of Fox News, Newsmax etc as well as crazy base voters similar to dbm,DANC,ftw etc... who are desperate for an impeachment which they believe will help Trump, he has no way to avoid holding the vote. And if one of those moderate Pubs joins Buck in voting no, then Comer faces the total embarrassment of losing outright.

Charlie Sykes, who is a conservative and former Pub provides an excellent analysis of this in this conversation with WAPO reporter Philip Bump...

Biden has been in government for 50 goddamn years. Are they having that much trouble finding dirt on the man? In my opinion, pubs don’t really want this hearing, they just want to be able to talk about it and imply shit. (Kinda like when Trump wanted Ukraine to just announce an investigation, he didn’t really care if there was an actual investigation). Let me rephrase that, pubs don’t want the hearing this far away from the election because they don’t have shit and they won’t find shit. If they do end up having a hearing, I’d bet it wouldn’t be til next fall, likely October. That way it will be going on during the election and the findings (all zero of them) won’t be known til after the election.

Problem is they still have no evidence that Hunter gave Joe any ill gotten money and there is also no evidence that Joe did anything for any of said ill gotten money. I still can’t understand how any foreign actor could expect anything from private citizen Joe Biden who wasn’t holding any government office. If I saw any actual credible evidence of Joe Biden corruption I’d be calling for his impeachment. There really isn’t any. Hoping that there is isn’t evidence. That’s where we are.
