Can someone explain (like I’m a 5-year old) why Luke is on the active roster if he is for sure out for the year?

I've been waiting for them to put out the new roster....they hadn't the last I checked. But saw your post, so I looked. I counted 43 on the roster, so I googled and I saw somewhere said there will be a roster limit of 40 for the 2024 season. So, he may be on what we see, but not part of the 40.

This is allowed per NCAA rules if players are injured before the roster is announced. They can be replaced, but are ineligible for the entire season. Sources have confirmed to iubase.com that freshman OF Braydon Bakes and senior LHP Matthew Bohnert are the two injured players.

Side note: junior RHP Luke Sinnard (elbow) is also not expected to play at all in 2024, but he was not replaced on the roster and is assumed to be technically eligible.
