Purdue vs Maryland

Terrible take, I guarantee we would love to be in the same position as PU as a program the last 10 years vs where we are.
And this is where you show your true Purdue colors. IU has been TERRIBLE post-Knight given program standards and Purdue in the same time frame has only been marginally better in the postseason. Purdue has one E8 since Knight has been fired and these c***suckers would lead you to believe they are a top 5 program nationally (because they’ve been better than IU and their entire existence as an athletic program is based on Indiana). Indiana is Purdue’s pedestal; their barometer of success is being better than IU.

You’re a younger IU fan. You have ZERO clue what it’s like to see Indiana as an elite program. 75% of the posters on here don’t either including all the half whit Purdue posters who post on here as well. This is Purdue’s golden age and they somehow make a mockery out of themselves with each passing tournament.

I agree however they have a much better overall program than IU. They make a run this year and it really distances them from IU
They have a much better team than IU right now. "Overall Program" is a very different discussion.

They make a run this year and they look like a very good program the last 6-8 years. They are by far the best team in the country. If they do t shit their pants in tourney they will win it all

Overall program also. Iu doesn’t have a program yet. It’s been a constant rinse repeat of bad hires. Purdue has a much better chance of sustained success than IU despute
iu having better Individual talent

If they break the cycle this tournament then completely different conversation.

How many times f***** times have you heard “this is their tear”? They say it every year and it’s been 40+ straight years of chronic postseason underachieving. Zebras don’t change their stripes, this is who Purdue is as a program. One tournament run isn’t going to change that narrative.

You seem like a grumpy old man.

You and i have different definitions of the word apparently.

But, I agree the coaching situation has been a mess.

No kool-aid just watching them is much better basketball and more like what IU basketball should be. Makes me sick
I don’t think you took my comment to heart earlier about not understanding what it means to see IU as a truly elite program. IU won 3 titles in essentially a 10 year period. If you think this 10 year run from Purdue remotely compares to what constitutes “much better basketball” well like I said, you don’t have a clue.

Can’t deny-it’s been a circus. It would have been different if RMK hadn’t been fired and a normal transition to his successor or if Brad Stevens had taken the job.

I struggle to see who benefited from RMK’s firing except for Miles Brand getting a job with the NCAA, IU’s basketball opponents, those that were glad to see a great coach brought low, and various sportscaster getting a victory lap. RMK had the perfect state of mind for the tourney to get the best out of his players.

The Keady to Painter transition was handled well.
The IU administration was in a difficult spot. Knight was going off the rails and had to be dealt with. Knight burned the house down on his way out. Davis talks with total incredulity on how Knight cut the program out from under him in the transition. If Knight was an IU guy he would have protected the program. He didn’t.

That was 37 plus years ago lol

It’s incredible. And what makes IU a blue blood program. Purdue is not. But the program has not been cared for - starting with Knight. It’s such a shame that Knight did not care for the program enough to watch out for it. What was asked of him was not excessive. I’d love to see IU be a successful program. They do things the right way and have a fan base that loves the game. And there’s nothing more fun when both state programs are successful.

Ancient history. PU plays much better basketball now
And has amounted to what exactly? Again, this is the the mindset of a Purdue fan when your barometer of success is Indiana. Purdue isn’t taken seriously by anyone outside of Purdue, “much better basketball” be damned.

What are you arguing? PU is number 1 in the country.
You are basing your entire argument off tournament success.
I’m talking pure basketball…iu doesn’t play good basketball. PU does…something IU fans have always been prideful about. We are terrible fundamentally and bball IQ. Something. That should never happen at a basketball crazed state. I watch our number 2 ranked high school team last night beat a really good 3 a team last night and hit 12 3’s. Shooting, passing, blacking out, ball movement, etc..

If Purdue isn’t taken seriously why do IU fans rush the court after they beat Purdue? For a team that isn’t taken serious and is insignificant your fans rushing the court says otherwise.

Purdue will be a top 15 team next year without Edey
No ones talking about next year: this year! Yes, next year, Painter will pull together a good team, but if you lose Edey this year vs a good team, you'll be in trouble, even if TKR showed up for a game.

Purdue has been #1 in the country each of the last 3 seasons and has somehow one upped themselves (not in a good way) in the tournament. They are November national Champions every year for a reason.

Peter effing Dinklage staring straight into the TruTV camera last year saying “We’re going to beat Purdue” is the biggest own in NCAA tournament history. Pure basketball my ass. “Pure basketball” has earned Matt Painter the title of most underachieving basketball coach.

I have zero control over what 18-22 year old drunk college students do. When Tobin Anderson calls you out on national television, there’s a reason behind it.

lol ok

Hey you Schmuck, I was simply saying, they were up 15 on a top 10 team without Edey much of the first half with foul trouble. They are a deep team and have different guys step up.
But he played and impacted the game greatly when he was in there, as he always does.

Also, that "top 10" team is missing it's best player. Where would PU be without Edey? IL rallied for a game without Shannon, but they struggled last night without him. They won't be top 10 without him. I think they rallied in the first couple games, but obvious drop in talent on the floor last night. The Sleepers guys insinuate they have some insider info and that he will be back. IMO their season depends on it, but once again, PU catches a break in the B10.

You make good points. It’s a severe frustration with our coach and his ability to adapt. It’s been his Shakespearean tragedy to date in his career. Hoping he can jump that shark.

And they're not even good at it. If I was swept by my rival and lost to a 16 seed in what is considered to be one of the greatest years in their program history, there isn't a chance in hell I'm showing my face in a public forum talking smack, let alone on a rivals page.
Yeah, but you will “talk smack” after two decades of mostly futility. Odd standard, you employ.

What happened to Caleb Furst? He played a little bit more as a frosh and even more last season then he does now.

Uh. More than just students. And these are the big brother knowledgeables rushing the court for their 5 minutes of fame over the last several years of basketball.

And if IU is so much more significant why is it Purdue gets the invites to the biggest pre-season tournaments? Somebody doing the picking must know something. Maybe they don’t want 3 blowouts? Wait, I think basketball blue blood Auburn just scored again. Oh, maybe IU is just keeping their schedule open to play another 300+ KenPom and win by single digits. Good news Army just beat Merchant Marines (this is real) by 8. That should help your NET rating.

He’s regressed. Looks mental. Not strong with the ball. Still a good rebounder and gives them defensive options for stretch 5s. Next year he might get passed by 7’2 Berg from Sweden who has shown flashes in mop up duty. Kid plays with a mean streak.

I’m on an IU board dumbass, did you forget that? I’ll talk shit about Purdue losing to the FDU’s and St. Peter’s of the world until the day that I die until they no longer don’t. And at my age, I’m not sure which comes first. I have 5 grown children who haven’t seen Purdue make a F4. Purdue has 5 decades of futility yet here you are. We all know why.

Was this supposed to be witty?

Thanks-he looked like he had promise his freshman year
