Purdue vs Maryland

Well, not counting the LaLu guys, Purdue is recruiting one of them for one open scholarship, so not really a bold statement. But I’ll take 1000 career points from a guy like Benter as a role player to complement really good players.

Benter is a high IQ, athletic enough 6’6 210 SG that can get to the rim and shoot anywhere from outside. He’s a great shooter and a better passer. He might not be ultra athletic, but he’s athletic enough.

Then again, you said smith was a reach in high school as well probably. Whatever Mike Woodson is doing now is working apparently, so keep on keeping on.
I think Woody needs a large contract extension. Love his roster construction and the way he basically transformed IU into a portal school. He did a great job making sure IU has a premium backcourt. Keep paying transfer portal guys concentrating on front court guys. I am 100% good with Cupps and Galloway (using his covid year) as the starting backcourt in 2024-2025.

Sounds a little bit like Painter, right? Focus on the front court, back court not as good (minus JHS). I wouldn't keep Painter around for 20 years, especially after chronically crapping the bed against mid-majors and #16 seeds. Woody is still 3-1 against Matt: at least he can get the squad up for the PUkes.

Jimbo, are you ready for this month's Purdue game? Another win, and you and Woody can call this season a success!

Are you saying Painter doesn’t try to recruit or improve the backcourt?

Also, chronically is a strong word for something that has happened a minority of times on his career. Glad woody can get his guys up for their biggest game of the year though.

FDU's back court was way better than PU. PU's back court is nothing special.

Painter is an awful NCAA tournament coach and has experienced historic lows. PU is going to need a new coach and a program overhaul if they ever want to "get up for those games." PU is the program that focuses on non-March games. There is a lot of emphasis on "winning November and December," and there are a lot of chants about IU during non-IU games.

You ready to historically shit the bed against another mid-major in year 20? Worst loss in NCAA tournament history. PU has given up on doing anything in March: don't talk about Super Bowls.

If that happens, absolutely. In the meantime, I'm enjoying all 35 games until I have to worry about it.

See, while you remember March's success from 37 years ago, I've been enjoying a decade of superb basketball.

One in which Purdue has won 75% of its games and is about to have its 7th season (out of the last 9) with 26 or more wins. I like to watch basketball from November through March, and I've been rewarded for it even if the seasons didn't end like I wanted each year.

But man that sure sounds better than being a fan of a team that only cares about March but rarely even makes it to the tournament they care so much about the results in.

All of this greatness and yet you choose to live on this board.

Speaks volumes

It defines your fan base.

Live on this board? Today is my first time posting on this board in about a year.

It's always fun to stop by and read about the continued discontent of the IU fanbase. And Jimbo only got a poke because of his obsession with FDU and March. Other than that I keep to myself and just watch the chaos.

Purdue has no organized chants in Mackey with iu….

There are way worse coaches than Painter. His issue is he typically loses to higher seeds, aka never springs upsets. That’s the most common.

And you are correct, FDU’s guards outplayed Purdue’s that game. I feared starting two freshman would catch up to them and it started to in February. They held on.

Luckily, those guards are way better now. Purdue has a damn good PG, one of the best. Lance Jones is also a huge help. Purdue had an athleticism and youth issue at guard last year. Not this year. Teams aren’t even comparable.

They need their narratives. They have also claimed I only post here and never on the Purdue boards. Which is a lie

PU shit the bed when they had Ivey. Same players as last year. Good luck against the current of history. PU folk talking about Super Bowls on an IU board: SMH.

Any program worth a damn that cares about March would have shit canned Painter years ago.

I don’t remember watching Jones or Heide last year. Smith clearly got better. Went from a good freshman to all American level numbers.

You are such a broken record with your "run to IU board" whine. What's wrong with people having an intelligent conversation about basketball.
Nothing.

You should learn something about the game and move on from trolling big brother

Ivey made it to a Sweet 16! How about this, lets have Purdue follow the IU model, fire a coach every other year. First you have to fire your Hall Fame Coach (Knight- the guy who brought you all your history), then you need to fire Mike Davis, Archie Miller, Tom Crean, Kelvin Sampson (Cheater) and Dan Dakich, and now your on your 6th coach, Mike Woodson(65 year old NBA coach), who now on your board you want to FIRE! So lets see in Matt Painters 19 year carreer, you are working on getting your 7th different coach! How much money did it cost you to fire all those coaches? Matt Painter is 451-204 (.689%)at Purdue, IU during that same span is 308-228(.586%) and spent a boat load of money for what? Sorry, you can make fun of Purdue all you want, but IU basketball has been a road to failure! And now you have NIL, so you can spend even more!

Smith was offered 300k by Mark Few to transfer to Gonzaga and didn't do it, so it would be expensive to get him now.

That might have been the best comment ever written on this board. Well done!

and despite all that good fortune surrounding your program; here you are! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

No worries, if IL wins tonight, that will fumigate the board of the PU interlopers for a couple weeks anyway. Of course your good fortune continues and you catch them without Terrence Shannon, but they still looked good vs NW. You remember NW, right?

Yeah, I'd never heard that rumor and googled it. The only other reference I saw was from a PU X/Twitter follower but he said he turned down $500K.
Ryan Nembhard (brother of former starting Gonzaga PG Andrew) was their one and only PG portal target and a lock the second his name hit the portal. Don't let these mouth breathers tell you otherwise.

Uh uhhh, Hater! He had a picture of Braden with a post in quotes and everything.

That is not much for a solid PG.

Link anyway?
It was mentioned during an early broadcast this Fall (I was surprised that the announcer had the right to state it on a television broadcast, which may explain why it's not been mentioned publicly since then).

Sounds like the mentality of a program that would name their floor after a coach that never made it to a final four and totally lacks March accountability for coaches. Painter is a historically awful March coach, and PU will end up building a statue of him in front of Mackey. It's called having standards and trying instead of giving up.

Where are you going to find an article about this? You aren’t. Doesn’t make it not true. Just like Scourton getting an offer before going to the portal, but after accepting a deal to stay at Purdue and announce it. You aren’t. You can choose to not believe it, but it doesn’t make it not true. They have been interested in him before and after freshman year.

And this….

Shortly after the 1980 Final Four that saw Purdue lose to UCLA, a defeat that left Rose bitter more than 30 years later, and topple Iowa in the now-defunct third-place game, rumors surfaced that South Florida was pursuing Rose.

The St. Petersburg Times reported that South Florida was offering a package worth $86,000 a year.

If Rose is to be believed, that was a contract Purdue and King would never come close to matching. Sure enough, when Gene Keady replaced Rose less than two weeks later, his reported salary was the same $41,000.

That's the problem, they don't bring intelligent conversation to this board. Most off them come on IU site to slam IU and toot their horn. That's not intelligent conversation, that's just trolling.

And they're not even good at it. If I was swept by my rival and lost to a 16 seed in what is considered to be one of the greatest years in their program history, there isn't a chance in hell I'm showing my face in a public forum talking smack, let alone on a rivals page.
