Do you think anyone entering the portal gets an automatic computer generated email from IU basketball saying we are interested? Just wondering.

Yeah, I am sure it's automatic, Woodson is too lazy to write an email.
it could be done in like 10 minutes if the portal had a restricted api to go against for the contact info, so yeah, they may, or at least automatize based on some known metrics of the player, sure doable, easy ... and yes, they could have templates based on position for the "assistants" to customize and time send deltas if they want to rescind it before it flies
