Polls - - a week out

no bc i still am moved by policies and what party will have a more deleterious impact on all of us. i also know that the systems in place won't allow trump to cheat and win. jan 6 i don't "excuse" but i do understand that i think it was somewhat impulsive and things got out of hand. the more damning evidence to me, without following this stuff to closely, was trump's phone call to "find him votes." i guess that was georgia with the dipshit prosecutor. but ultimately i wouldn't be surprised in the least if trump claims victory. i do believe our system will ensure the actual winner is in office
You are probably right about the system being in place, but I'm not quite as confident. It feels like there now cracks, but even more concerning, are people willing to look the other way if it were to happen. Many have gone full tribal with only the end result of winning mattering.

If that genie (system failure) ever gets out of the bottle, the implications are scary.

I DM’d you weeks ago when you started getting hostile with me over my thoughts on the election and you didn’t answer. It was an attempt at an olive branch. You remind of every bully I ever knew going back to middle school days. “I’m your best friend until you disagree with me” BS. You truly probably have a personality disorder. Sorry that there are no effective treatments for these

I think it is very plausible that independent voters or even long-time GOPers would vote for Harris because they are Never Trumpers. Supporting Harris and hating Trump are two different things, even if the end result is the same.

Meanwhile, you still haven’t answered the question. And it’s anonymous so why can’t you state your opinions? I’ve long expressed where i differ from each party. Too many people claim to be independents or even GOPers who won’t vote for Trump, but have yet to articulate any support for conservative views.
I'll answer your question and then I'm done with your "gotcha!" game, Balls.

I'm for free trade, the rule of law, a strong military, strength and support of our global alliances, American Exceptionalism, our democratic institutions and respect for those institutions. I'm against Putin's authoritarian dictatorship, strongmen regimes, Communism, people who argue without evidence that there is a fundamental problem with the US election system and people who promote an imperial presidency.

This is not an exhaustive list. I have a job and a life and other things to do.

Look at the registration numbers vs turnout %….its very very close. If Trump can steal one blue wall state, he wins
If your turnout % is mainly high proficiency voters who were going to vote anyway, that lessens the odds that the amateurish GOTV effort your running is going to be able to turn out the amount of lesser proficiency voters you're going to need to rely on to counteract the lead the Dems have built up during early voting.

Elon is an idiot, so no idea why you'd refer to his "knowledge" of elections? The total GOP vote in PA up to now is 458,055 so what does he mean when he says that the GOP is doing 435,000 better than 2020? Is he saying only around 23,000 Republicans returned mail ballots in 2020? The reality is that 623,404 mail votes at a rate of 79.4 % were returned by PA Republicans in 2020.

The discrepancy is that in 2020 Dems returned 1,702,484 and their total for this year is only 837,916, so turnout is not as high as 2020 overall. And the Dems don't have as large a lead as they had heading into 2020 election day...But that is only significant if you assume that the electorate on election day in 2024 will look the same as in 2020.

Dems are seeing a higher % of their low-proficiency voters vote early compared to the Pubs. Before 2020 it was the GOP that participated in mail and early voting at a higher rate than Dems. So if the opposite is true in 2024 it's really a return to form. The fact that Elon applies such a simplistic analysis to the early numbers in PA, and he is in charge of their GOTV effort shows why they are in such trouble.

Dems believe based on the data that a large % of GOP early voters have been regular voters, which means they're going to have to count on Bro crew type men to vote on a single day, election day. Also in 2022 the youth vote in PA was pro-Democrat, and a lot of those voters register as non-affiliated. The Dems need to turn out their coalition in PA on election day. If they do they'll win...

On the subject of "conservative views ", can conservatives and liberals share the same views ?

Can remember when pols from both parties shared many of the same views.

These days the pols go out of their way to make the other guys appear to be out of the mainstream.

If you want to bet, you would take Harris to win simply on the ROI and odds, you can triple your money almost. Not saying she is or isn’t, but odds are better for winning bigger money in a lotto play.

Here’s your chance to get out of Linton. Although, you should “like Linton”

Lots of people are going to vote based entirely on their thoughts about abortion. A lot of others will voter entirely based on the cost of living crisis.
I think anyone who votes based on a single issue is just plain dumb. (not saying that there will never be any issue where that doesn't makes sense). It would be nice if it was that simple but you take the whole package.... the good along with the bad.

I feel the same about straight ticket voters. You are saying that you don’t care at all about any candidate. You are extremely low information if that is the case.

I live in Bloomfield but would love to live in Linton. There is nothing in Bloomfield, not even a decent fast food spot...If I get hungry at 10 pm and don't want to drive all te way to Linton I'm SOL...

What about if that single issue is absolute distrust of a convicted criminal who happens to be a raging narcissist ??

Maybe not as much as the Trump camp after MSG rally. How fitting would it be if it turns out the PR disparagement ends up costing Trump the election?

But it's all relative, isn't it? The race-baiting and SXism was always built in, but who could have predicted Trump would have held a rally to roll it out to America through what they thought was comic relief right before the election? It won't matter to 90% of the electorate, but it very well could do him in where it counts.

Hopefully you won't be posting much.

It’s unfathomable to me half the country was okay with burning police stations, businesses and looting all summer. The democrat nominee raised money to get the criminals out on bail.

She's responsible for a lot of deaths and bodily injury over the last 3 years......but Trump tweets.......

Yea, they’re really pissed😂 A failed campaign grasping so far they need to hang their hat on a dumbass comedian who has no part of Trump’s campaign.

Biden's gaffe was much worse, and more instructive.

I don't know, straight ticket makes more sense when you account for the idea that almost everything is controlled by the party who gets to bring bills to the floor and politicians very rarely buck the party on votes of importance anyway.

You're right. That and the various attempts to overthrow the election. And the theft of state secrets, which no one seems to be able to justify or dismiss, so they just ignore it.

A lot of that blame is misplaced. The inflation spike was a shock to the system, but overall it's not been the cataclysm people like to make it out to be. The alternative was to risk a recession and job loss.

<cue mcm rant in 3, 2, 1...>

It would have been very easy to spend less $, more efficiently.

Disagree. I wouldn't vote for a Dem candidate for Congress no matter the individuals involved. It's more important, imo, to deny the Dems control over either the House or the Senate, if possible.

I disagree and it has nothing to do with being a low information. My objective is to have supermajorities for the GOP at all levels of government. I want a much smaller government and Democrat candidates aren’t for that. You can still vote straight ticket and care about the candidates.

Craze, respect your opinions which in my view make sense.

However, this particular post confirms one of my fears about the future.

Say this because it confirms the notion a super majority by a party as is currently the case in the Indiana state legislature is somehow preferable to a legislature where both sides at least listen to the other and may actually compromise from time to time.

Say this as a person who once moved and then lived in Indianapolis at a time when Democrats held Republicans such as Lugar and Hudnut as important to making Indy a great place to live, work, and play.

Just because they weren't part of your party didn't mean you couldn't work with them for the common good.

No party has a monopoly on good ideas.

I don't disagree in theory but as you mentioned, the way the system currently works I don't like voting for Democrats because next to none of our politicians act as individuals, they are monolithic on all the big things. So while so and so rep may have a better disposition, when it comes to voting you can almost count on them being nothing but a seat warmer whose vote is controlled by the party and the donors.

I realized last night why this is so funny. Someone has to have big balls to face a keyboard warrior who acts like the head bully of a high school clique on a damned online forum. That is rich. I’ll stick to the sports boards from now on and let you guys feel powerful in your little fiefdom here

Wow. A poll of 20000 should be liberal students. I'm assuming they aren't seeing much joy in their current economic opportunities.

I think there are a few things to consider here. I’m using Indiana as the example since that is where I live.

1. We get worse candidates. Rs pulling straight tickets continues to move the party further and further right. It is creating the monolith you identify above. Essentially, the R elected in Indiana is the person who was the most extreme primary candidate.

2. It’s breeds corruption. Rs pulling straight tickets in a very red Indiana gave us R supermajorities. Things get done away from the sunshine disinfectant and there is no credible D challenge. Further, choosing morally bankrupt candidates just because they are an R increases the likelihood of corruption.

3. Lack of representation. No I’m not talking about for Ds or others who don’t agree with their policies, I’m taking about the R who pull straight tickets. Because we have created the super R majority, they don’t have to care at all about what you, a supporter and voter, think. They can be swayed by special interests or simply follow their own extreme ideology on a subject. They don’t need your vote and don’t care because they don’t have to care.

I assume you respect the office of the president while being critical of the current office-holder. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.

I have enormous respect for our judiciary, including the Supreme Court. I’m not thrilled with the current iteration, though, particularly two justices who are clearly biased, seriously conflicted and should have recused themselves from some highly consequential cases. One of them is grossly unethical. The chief justice is unable or unwilling to rein them in.

We'll probably get two more just like them if your boy wins next week.

How much time did you spend looking for a “gotcha!” that isn’t a gotcha? Why am I under your skin? You need a hobby or something.
