I get tired of seeing the posts berating PU and wishing they get blown out by anyone and everyone.

As an IU fan, I hope for the exact opposite. The higher ranked they are, the better our defeating them means in the tourney seeding (and if we were to lose, the less harm it can have).

Frankly I'd much rather beat them, or anyone else, when they are ranked #1 than as some also ran.

Can someone please explain their logic? Our success is not determined their failure, quite the opposite is true.

This is like rooting for the IRS to tax you more ...

There are a lot of other teams in the Big Ten who could be good and we could beat. Someone has to be in the cellar, why not them?

Pretty simple really, I and I think most of my IU brethren detest them and since the feeling is quite mutual, not many on either side want anything but the worst for the others.

Or to put it another way, POTFB

When they are ranked #1??? What kind of effed up crazy fantasy world are you talking about where Purdue is ranked #1? Has that ever even happened?

The lower ranked they are, the better. Why you would ever "hope" that the broilees equal IU's bball success is beyond any rational IU fan. The more the broilees continue to suck, the more IU dominates the fertile recruiting in Indiana. Let the broilees have sloppy seconds, like they have the last two years. I do not expect to ever lose to that hellhole of a program, so why do you factor that in? IU beats a bottom feeder pu program twice a year does not harm our seeding in any way. Why help out the broilees?

I would rather beat the cow lickers every year, twice, to secure their 14th place finish in the B1G.

IU success is enhanced by the broilees continued lack of success, in every way- national and state prominence, recruiting, reputation, and banners. The broilees - from Piggy Lambert to Hog Head Keady to PorkChop Painter, broilees suck heifer teets!!!

Bippy, you are rather dippy.

Purdoo losing does nothing for IU, but it makes me smile. Isn't that enough?

I do not have the hard on for PU as some as I live out of state. What I enjoy most is reading treeds (Nojel Easterns mom) post on the PU board. That is entertainment at its finest right there.
how do i do that? someone (you) should post a best of

I hope Purdue wins every game outside the conference and lose every game within the conference.

What does "NCAA" mean to Purdue fans?

No
Championships
At
All

Purdue can be used as a bad example

When entering the state signs say "Welcome to Indiana".

Purdue fans' birth control is their personalities.

Why on earth would you want your in state rival be strong and compete at the highest level when your team when you compete with them for Indiana recruits? Besides.........PU sucks.

I would like IU to be Top 5 every year and Purdue to be Top 20. Still it's funny when they lose.

I also live out of state and don't interact with Purdue graduates except when I email with a HS friend. As far as I know Purdue is an academically honorable institution (unlike, e.g. UNC), which is the most important thing a university can be. And business majors ridiculing farmers and engineers gets old. And anyone ridiculing a universitiy's coeds just because they go there is sophomoric and sucks.

But on the other hand I sympathize with those who interact daily with Purdue graduates, hence my policy of rooting for all Big 10 schools, including Purdue, as long as they aren't playing for a banner.

F*ck Purdue.

I interact daily with a building full of PU graduates, with ugly black and gold everywhere, Glenn Robinson and PU Mascot Pete bobbleheads, and giant PU football and basketball calendars hung in almost every cubicle. After the Bucket win I had black streamers greeting me at work on Monday in my office.

My sympathies. It's like you are working in North Korea. Your coworkers are living in a horrid world, and just don't know any better.

Very good post. I think the responses posted to date show the true character of IU fans that post on this board. That should be tempered, however, because it is the same with all boards like this. People can come on the board virtually anonymously and spew stuff they would in public. ALL boards are the same. If you look at the total fan base people that post this sht on this and other boards are a very small minority. For me, I cheer for all Big schools all the time. I think the Big places the proper balance on academics and sports. For me, I remember the great rivalry with Bobby and Gene when both schools were ranked high and the press coverage was unbelievable for their games.

Thank you for the kind reply.
It seems the question I posed has, unfortunately, only elicited diatribes and vitriol without any cogent reply.

I also hope all B1G programs beat all programs outside the conference and IU beats everyone inside the conference. ;)

Lighten up Gladys!

If you think that what people post anonymously on these boards truly represent what peoples' characteristics are then you may be mistaken. Some, maybe. Many, I speculate, are here for entertainment purpose or some other agenda. Like trying to get a response.

I really like games to be competitive. I hope the B1G is the best conference. I want our rival(s) to be top notch and IU a little better in head to head competition.

I do not yell at other teams or fans in a manner that is in poor taste. I don't throw stuff at people. I don't want them to fail or feel unsafe. Good sportsmanship is vitally important and a core value.

Sports are mostly for entertainment. That and to get money contributed to the Universities and/or to fatten certain wallets, sure.

These comment threads are designed specifically as clickbait. The websites are wanting us to read and use their ads.

Controversy is exactly what they want.

But most of us here will agree on one thing:

Any IU fan who has to spend any time around PUkes who might be relatives or co-workers understands. The fan base is obnoxious and obsessed with IU failure. The fact that they have an organized chant of "IU Sucks" at every home event in every sport says it all.
