Per Rabby, Forrester is transferring too

Perhaps the offer was still technically 'on the table', but I sure don't remember CAM recruiting him hard; my memory is that everyone understood IU was out of consideration after the DA commit, including CAM.

I agree with you that AH was not going to come to IU after DA and JH committed on that monday. The offer was still on the table for him though.

Why in the world would you want somebody back who is not 100% committed? Just curious? The whole rule seems kind of dumb. So now every spring coaches will just have to sit back and wait and see if a player decides to leave if he gets a better offer?
I completely agree with you. If I was a head coach and a player entered this transfer portal, I’d kindly let him know he’s not welcome back. My point in the post was that the NCAA has created an opportunity for players to “apply for other jobs,” which may not exactly be a good thing.

I would guarantee you that there is not a single coach out there who is surprised or caught off guard by a player’s name appearing on that list.

You think Archie got finished with his morning cartoons, checked the list, and said ‘I wonder what Jake’s up to?’

Is he transferrring, or has he just put his name in the portal to see what’s out there?

Sorry to see him go. He looked like he had a lot of potential and he was one player who always seemed to bring effort when in the game and enthusiasm when he was on the bench.
True, but he had no idea what the speed of the game was in the big league, imho. Liked the effort and he will do fine with more maturing at a mid major. Another Crean experimental reach because Crean's pipeline was thin...
His offer list was actually pretty strong if I recall.

Am I missing something? He is 6'8" tall, scads of P5 offers out of high school, and he couldn't get much playing time as a freshman (most don't) and it's not a loss that he is leaving?

On a whole, unless you are committing to the one and done route, these transfers individually aren't a big deal, but in the long run you end up being "always young"......

Jahvon Quinerly transfering from Villanova..
Jay Wright recruit..
#26 ranked in high school..
Big time school..Big time coach.
And a 5 ☆ recruit !!
It's the norm in today's game..

It's not shocking in this day and age for sure, but I don't think it's the norm either.

I never implied Archie was surprised...

porkchop had at least 8 kids transfer his first 3 springs as broilee coach. Archie has had 3. Look it up, as I posted them by name after you dbags were critical of Gelon's departure. silly broilees..

Everything isn't a troll, it wasn't "positive" when CMP had the transfers either (except for a few of them who were malcontents which doesn't seem to be the case here). I though Forrester was gonna be a good 8-10pt/8-10 rebound kid and good on D by the time he was a Junior and Senior.

I don't think he is ever going to be that good. A solid bench player that can come in for stints to give the other big guys a breather or maybe for a burst of energy. I think about 10 mpg and maybe 4-6 ppg. But we'll never know.

It really is. IU football is the same way. Shaking up the coaching staff after two seasons is a sign of desperation.

You really are a tool, aren't you.

Debord was roundly criticized from everything from his age to him being predictable so TA and IU goes out and hires what appears to be a top flight OC and you bitch about it.

Couldn't make you happy if you were hung with a new rope.

One of my mom's favorite sayings. So apropos.

I believe players have to apply for the transfer through the school, the school lists the players on the portal. Coaches are made aware first, not surprised.

I hope he does, I've been waiting for it since the season ended.
There's a lot of stupid on this forum, but hoping that players like Smith or Green transfer or hoping that Langford leaves for the nba are pretty much toppers. Any of those things could happen - in fact in Langford's case it's likely to happen - but rooting for it to happen is moronic.

How about hoping that 3 core players from this year's team improve, mature, and come back next year ? Petty butthurt resulting in vindictive slurs against kids because they didn't deliver what petulant children like you feel they are entitled to is beyond pathetic. Bash the coach all you want (regardless of how irrational it might be), he's being paid to deliver wins. Besides, I'm pretty sure Archie can handle the overwrought rantings of message board wanna-be's who think they have a clue about coaching basketball.

But if you can't root for the kids who play here to be successful, you need to divorce yourself from the program and find another team to cheer for.

Lol "kids" I'm literally 3 years older than Justin Smith, I graduated college last year. Not every IU fan had their heyday in the 70s, some of us haven't seen IU win a damn thing. As long as Justin stays at IU I will root for him because ultimately I want IU to succeed. That being said, his lack of effort this year was ridiculous and I mostly blame Archie for playing him soo many minutes when there were other guys in the bench that deserved them more. It isn't like we were winning anything anyway.

This is a board of opinions on our favorite college basketball team. My opinions aren't always going to be sunshine and rainbows, especially when my favorite program has been a joke for going on 2 decades. If you don't want to hear it either put me on ignore, or take your holier than thou bs somewhere else.

You have every right to say it. You are correct that it's a message board full of opinions. By that same reasoning I'm free to point out when the expression of those opinions is juvenile, idiotic, and pathetic.

I'll cut you a little slack. I was a bit emotional and stupid when I was in my early twenties as well. Hopefully you overcome the sense of entitlement and develop a more reasoned thought process. But experienced adults cheering for players to leave the program instead of rooting for them to improve and help IU improve is nothing less than pathetic.

The fact that DeBord was ever the OC is the problem. His deficiencies were well known when he was hired yet he was kept around for two losing seasons. Allen didn’t know how to delegate responsibilities since he had never been a head coach at the collegiate level so there was no full-time defensive coordinator either. Good programs don’t do crap like this.

I think Allen is doing a good job. IDK what to think about Archie though. If you lose the 2 transfers, Morgan, and Romeo...…. Isn't year 3 supposed to be when the ball gets rolling, not when you are starting all over again?

Oh, good programs like Tenn which hired DeBord?

It is very sad to see how Miller's first two recruiting classes turned out to be very dismal and yes, I am being kind. I hope Phinesee, the best player in the group, steps up and is a four year star.

Thanks for weighing in, schmuck. I can't imagine why anyone here would care what you think.

You doubled down on dumb with this post. And threw in a big helping of arrogance.

Because I like talking basketball. Usually I can get some good discussion now and again here. What in that statement was offensive to your delicate disposition? If you only want sunny, fan boy posts pony up you $10 and go to the pay board. Not everything is a troll. Hell, I even said I think Allen is doing a good job.

Yours was a piling on post that added nothing. Your motivations are suspect.

I'll take your word for it. My point was I think Allen is showing his program is moving in the right direction. Archie there isn't any evidence that he is at this point. Doesn't mean Allen will succeed or Archie will fail, but when looking objectively at the two as an outsider that's what I see. IU Football is getting close, improved recruiting and coaching, competitive in almost every single game. IU basketball, with the transfers, OAD and graduations feels like it's more like year 1 next year than year 3. Trayce is a monster so he could be the difference.

My disposition is hardly delicate. I simply don't abide your passive-aggressive trolling hidden under the guise of civil conversation. Your thoughts on the Indiana coaching staff are irrelevant. If YOU don't like the responses you receive here I invite you to slither back over to your own board and circle jerk with the rest of your grubby Boiler brethren.
