I did not see this coming. Would've like to seen his growth by junior year. Best of luck,Jake. Is Smith next or is CAM giving him a pass?

Yeah because every three star player should play as freshman. It kills me how everyone thinks they should see the court early, even when they aren’t high level recruits.
Per some of you all we should take are three stays so who the heck would play the minutes? The kid obviously was not ready to play at this level and did not want to sit on the bench another year. Who could blame him.

You assume he would be fine sitting on the bench for two years. Most kids do not want to do that.

I dont think it is a big deal...like I didnt when guys transferred when Crean coached either.

You give a kid an opportunity, they decide it isnt the best fit for them, and they leave...probably to a better place than had they not spent time at IU...

Its not called ‘Creaning’, or ‘Millering’, its just typical and normal for college basketball (sports) today.

Is he transferrring, or has he just put his name in the portal to see what’s out there?

Sorry to see him go. He looked like he had a lot of potential and he was one player who always seemed to bring effort when in the game and enthusiasm when he was on the bench.
We don't know why his name is in there. It is similar to looking for a new job. Once you start seriously looking you have one foot out the door.

It is hard to tell a kid to work hard ans in your 3rd year you should get some playing time. Kids used to be happy with that, but everyone wants a shot at the NBA. I thought he might be a redshirt candidate if we got Brunk or Watford, I think he could have redshirted this year if it weren't for the injuries.

This looks really bad as he's an Archie recruit. I hope I'm wrong but our program appears to be a total dumpster fire.

The 2 scholarship players with the least amount of minutes on the team are transferring (both around 60 min total for the season). Jaedon LeDee, Holtmann's first commit at OSU is transferring as well. This is pretty common stuff

Well either way by putting your name in you look wishy washy for your commitment to IU. Why would Archie take him back after he looked into going to other schools? You are either 100 % committed to Archie and IU or you are not. I mean so Archie is just supposed to sit back and wait for him to decide. No you go recruit like the spot is open.[/QUOTE]

Well he could not get off bench so it is not really that surprising as neither could moore. I would not be schocked to see another frosh who did not play leave. It is time to go heavy grad transfers like TT did.

An undersized freshman, who presently lacks the skills and/or size to play anything more than mop-up minutes at any position, likely left due to little playing time....

Hmmmm, sure....all Archie's fault. Clueless.

How do you know that's the reason he's transferring?

I compare a kid entering his name in the transfer portal to a regular joe applying for a different job. It doesn’t mean he’s not able to do his current job — it’s simply not a good fit. The good news for Jake is that a player can enter his name in the portal, but ultimately decide to stay with his current school. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

I don't get all this talk of "Idk why we took him in the 1st place". Really? & we have so many excellent options beating down our doors, huh? I think he had excellent potential defensively, rebounding, & he was a HIGH energy kid, & this team needs energy. Of course he was raw, but he wasn't THAT undersized, in fact he wasn't really undersized at all for college basketball. Besides, all of these things were known quantities, & obviously liked by the staff.

Why in the world would you want somebody back who is not 100% committed? Just curious? The whole rule seems kind of dumb. So now every spring coaches will just have to sit back and wait and see if a player decides to leave if he gets a better offer?

Forrester is leaving. I see no way that Archie is going to wait on Forrester to decide if he is coming back to IU or leaving. Archie is going to find a player that fits and can contribute. He gone!

True, but he had no idea what the speed of the game was in the big league, imho. Liked the effort and he will do fine with more maturing at a mid major. Another Crean experimental reach because Crean's pipeline was thin...

Smith is academic all B1G at Kelley. He would be crazy to go, unless Archie pushes him out.

If Archie sat back in waited for one could miss out on other players and two it lets players know they will control this narrative each spring. He just needs to cut ties and go find another guy.

Archie still had the offer on the table to AHenry after Anderson and Hunter's same day commits. Henry elected to go to M$U at that time.

I heard they were taking the first one to commit. I thought I read on here, posters claiming they stopped recruiting Henry. Supposedly, his dad was mad about it?

He was a Miller recruit, not a Crean one.

I never saw him as a big time player but thought he might be a 10 mpg decent role player his last two seasons. I liked the energy and attitude he showed. A bit disappointed to see him go but don't think he'll be too hard to replace. I'd probably be more sorry to see him go if this team didn't have so many holes that need immediate patching. Wish him luck.

not true, as Archie still wanted AHenry. I could see AH and his father's concern, as Hunter and Anderson both played AH's position.

Jahvon Quinerly transfering from Villanova..
Jay Wright recruit..
#26 ranked in high school..
Big time school..Big time coach.
And a 5 ☆ recruit !!
It's the norm in today's game..

Perhaps the offer was still technically 'on the table', but I sure don't remember CAM recruiting him hard; my memory is that everyone understood IU was out of consideration after the DA commit, including CAM.

It really is. IU football is the same way. Shaking up the coaching staff after two seasons is a sign of desperation.
