Michael Jordan on if 90’s Bulls could beat LeBron’s Lakers

well said. It explains how you can pull a philosopher from a coffee shop and drop him in the middle of a field and he’ll take it over.

This has become a nice little thread
He knows how to pair wine with food. Innately.

The cult of Kobe has to stop. He was incredible, but I saw him up close for two decades and I don't think he's a Top 5 player.

People love to disrespect Lebron, but he's really remarkable.

Lebron is top 5 all time for sure... I might even put him top 3 behind MJ and Kareem, with a strong case that he might be #2.

Kobe is an all time great, but he's right on the cuff of the top 10. I could make arguments for him being just on the outside of top 10, but he's hovering around there, IMO.

Actually, we should be asking these questions of Marv about another sport near and dear to his heart.

Does today's training and development lead to these people:

being better at D&D than these guys?

The obvious answer: **** no.
While the neck beard in the OG photo is impressive, he'd really struggle to stand out in today's modern game.

And I'm really disappointed in this board that no one has noted the key difference between these modern photos and the OG ones. It's the reason why D&D has pop culture cred now (no, Marvin, it's not because of MAGIC: THE GATHERING 🤣 ).

This is s*****, isn’t it? Just had to ruin a good thread by injecting s*****.

Dick Butkus would have picked up one of these dudes, tied their legs in knots and tossed them over the stands.
So those weren't Napoleon's Field Marshalls? Explains why Ney was missing.

I do not think the Kangaroo Court can levy a fine too large.

The equipment was much worse, though. That said, I do agree that 1965 Jack wouldn't get close to 2000 Tiger with the same equipment. That's the nature of athletics.

1965 Masters…6980 yards
1997 Masters…6925 yards

Lebron brings the disrespect into himself. His ego vastly exceeded Jordan’s or Kobe’s or Kareem’s or Magic’s. He’s the most arrogant athlete on the planet. I defended him when he was a kid and said stupid things but now that he’s older and knows better - there’s no excuse anymore.

He’s also the first superstar NBA Player to flop and whine to the refs to the degree he does. Super unlikable guy. But agreed the talent is tremendous.

The other thing I’ll say to discount him is that there have been - in his career - very few players that had the physical ability to defend him. His size and athleticism let him play a different game than all the others. It’s also why I can’t put Kareem at the top - he was virtually unguardable. He’d be smothered in today’s game.
