The cult of Kobe has to stop. He was incredible, but I saw him up close for two decades and I don't think he's a Top 5 player.
People love to disrespect Lebron, but he's really remarkable.
While the neck beard in the OG photo is impressive, he'd really struggle to stand out in today's modern game.Actually, we should be asking these questions of Marv about another sport near and dear to his heart.
Does today's training and development lead to these people:
being better at D&D than these guys?
The obvious answer: **** no.
That’s a man who has never had merlot or a bad touchHe knows how to pair wine with food. Innately.
Or an uninteresting woman. They bore him. That’s a man who has never had merlot or a bad touch

To your point that man can’t bench 135. Runs a 5 plus 40. Yet dominated like few ever while rarely going beyond a slow jogOr an uninteresting woman. They bore him.
So those weren't Napoleon's Field Marshalls? Explains why Ney was missing. This is s*****, isn’t it? Just had to ruin a good thread by injecting s*****.
Dick Butkus would have picked up one of these dudes, tied their legs in knots and tossed them over the stands.
Not in 97Augusta is almost 600 yards longer then what it was in 65.
The equipment was much worse, though. That said, I do agree that 1965 Jack wouldn't get close to 2000 Tiger with the same equipment. That's the nature of athletics.

The Court has placed an order for new Mercedes for the staff, financed entirely by fines from this execrable display. So those weren't Napoleon's Field Marshalls? Explains why Ney was missing.
I do not think the Kangaroo Court can levy a fine too large.
Lebron brings the disrespect onto himself. His ego vastly exceeded Jordan’s or Kobe’s or Kareem’s or Magic’s. He’s the most arrogant athlete on the planet. I defended him when he was a kid and said stupid things but now that he’s older and knows better - there’s no excuse anymore. The cult of Kobe has to stop. Hard disagree about the ego thing. Jordan and Kobe both have/had utterly massive egos. And both whined like crazy when they felt a call didn't go their way. Seems like maybe some recency bias there.Lebron brings the disrespect into himself. His ego vastly exceeded Jordan’s or Kobe’s or Kareem’s or Magic’s. He’s the most arrogant athlete on the planet. He’s also the first superstar NBA Player to flop and whine to the refs to the degree he does. Super unlikable guy. But agreed the talent is tremendous.
The other thing I’ll say to discount him is that there have been - in his career - very few players that had the physical ability to defend him. His size and athleticism let him play a different game than all the others. It’s also why I can’t put Kareem at the top - he was virtually unguardable. He’d be smothered in today’s game.
I’m 46 and have watched hundreds of Jordan games. Granted, I was overseas for much of prime Kobe. You’re just flat out wrong on Jordan whining to the refs about calls compared to LeBron. Like different stratosphere wrong. And the flopping is completely unforgivable of a supposed GOAT.Hard disagree about the ego thing. Jordan and Kobe both have/had utterly massive egos. I do agree that Lebron's size and speed combination is what makes him unique. And in comparison to Jordan and Kobe, he's a much more team-oriented player. IMHO, he has long seen it as his responsibility to elevate the play of his teammates with his own play in ways that Jordan and Kobe were never interested in. Lebron is much more comparable to Magic while Kobe really modeled himself after Jordan.
Hard disagree with the "brings disrespect into himself" thing, too. IMHO, a lot of it is centered on Lebron not fitting neatly into the box that most people would like him to. I guess it just depends on what you admire in your athletes.
Have to agree to disagree. Jordan was as insufferable as anyone with refs. The idea that Jordan and the 90's were some shut up and just play heaven are hilarious. Jordan was infamous for blistering and trying to intimidate refs.I’m 46 and have watched hundreds of Jordan games. Granted, I was overseas for much of prime Kobe. You have a golfer on your Mt. Rushmore?Mj and Messi are without compare. In addition to an absolute viciousness that both possessed, there’s a skill-fullness, grace, style, something aesthetic about how both played that is incomparable. An eye test that is just different. An unmatched beauty to their games. Ali had it. Tiger too. My Mount Rushmore
I disagree, Jordan has as much athletic ability as the best today and he has a refuse to lose attitude that others don’t have today. It's nice to think MJ would be the exception, but honestly, probably not. It's most likely that there are 30-50 players in the NBA right now who are better than MJ. That's just the nature of sports and development over time.
He had that “it” about him but both Ali and Tiger are below Messi and Jordan for meYou have a golfer on your Mt. Rushmore?

Don’t hear it from Messi and Jordan. 🐐. I do like lebron thoHe should just shut up and dribble.
He is a soccer player after all. Why would having a golfer on there surprise you?You have a golfer on your Mt. Rushmore?
And not a single pickleballer? I mean, WTF?He is a soccer player after all. Why would having a golfer on there surprise you?
Surprised he doesn't have Rabil or some other LAX player on there.
Listening to my daughter explain lacrosse to me makes me want to fake my own death. Zero chance even half of what she’s saying is rightHe is a soccer player after all. Why would having a golfer on there surprise you?

Laura Ingraham approves this message. He should just shut up and dribble.

I was just watching this.... there's some funny clips in it about Bird. And to show you my non bias, I’ll say right now that Jokic is every bit as good as Bird.
PB is not about individual glory. And not a single pickleballer? I mean, WTF?
He doesn’t need to shut up and dribble but his takes are awful and so is pretending to read a book when the camera is around. World class dbag.He should just shut up and dribble.
Yeah, to me he and Magic had leadership skills that other players don't have today and like you say I think MJ had that "refuse to lose" attitude and so did Magic.I disagree, Jordan has as much athletic ability as the best today and he has a refuse to lose attitude that others don’t have today.
