Arguments today in Supreme Court.
In short: Mexico sued Smith and Wesson because of the horrendous amount of guns in the hands of the Cartels resulting in thousands and thousands of deaths.
Federal immunity law protects s&W. An exception is if S&W knowingly violates a law proximately related to the ultimate third party crime. Mexico says S&W knows it sells to gun runners. S&W says that’s not facially illegal.
For those of you who have been here awhile know I dislike the immunity law, as I do most all immunity laws. (I think they violate the 7th Amendment). Moreover, I think we need decent and effective gun control laws.
Oral arguments today and even the liberal justices were poking holes in Mexicos case.
Mexico is gonna lose. Nice try though.
Congress needs to fix this.
