It looks like things are beginning to line up for Kavanaugh.
The White House has dug in on the nomination with President Trump making it clear that he was 100% committed to the nomination. They've allowed Kavanaugh to defend himself both by releasing a very combative letter to Senators Grassley and Feinstein yesterday and clearing him for a television interview last night. This had emboldened Mitch McConnell to put his own prestige on the line in ensuring their is a vote. And I can imagine that behind the scenes arms are being twisted to vote for Kavanaugh because with full-throated support from the White House, the Senate GOP either pushes this nomination through or finds itself being used as a joke in a Trump speech.

As I posted earlier, and leaving aside the worst of the allegations, these stories are old, but they suggest he was the sort of privileged a-- that inflicts his privileged a--holery on others with impunity. That rubs a lot of people the wrong way, even if there's certainly no consensus on that opinion, even though it was a long time ago, and even though it's not the stuff of illegality. That he's sorta saying otherwise now makes it worse for those who are rubbed the wrong way by this sort of thing. And it suggests he's the sort guy today that people would suspect a guy like that would one day become. (And, again, there's no consensus around that; not everybody dislikes "that guy").

But whoever posted the picture of James Spader and Craig Sheffer was pretty much spot on.

On the bright side, maybe the simplest and most realistic solution to our current political morass is just more women in the US Congress. For instance, what if there were less than 40 white, male Republicans?

They have to be democrat women though, because when Mia Love ran the first time she got blistered as a traitor by democrat blacks. In fact if conservative black men run they are routinely called sell outs and uncle toms. Even Candace Owens who puts videos on youtube gets slammed for being a conservative. So if you are female and or black then you are seen as one who is wrong for America if you are conservative.

Did anyone watch this last night? I didn't, but what I did see on the reporting of it looked to me like a scripted recitation of talking points, over and over and over again, whether they addressed the question being posed or not.

Kavanaugh went on Trump Channel last night and said he was a virgin in high school. More than 1 person at Yale has claimed that Kavanaugh told them a different story, and that he bragged about high school sexual conquests...

What will he say on Thursday when this issue comes up? Will he double down on the (laughable) virginity angle? If so does he dispute the claims of people who knew him at Yale and maintain otherwise? How does he resolve the 2 very different claims, without his credibility taking more of a hit than it already has...

This is not a trial it's a job interview. There is no burden of proof, just the issue of respective credibility. Reports have indicated that Kavanaugh has been pretty thin skinned when the WH staffers prepping him for his testimony have asked probing questions concerning his personal conduct at Georgetown Prep.

Seriously, this Renate sounds like a popular girl who dated, in the pre-Millenial sense of the word, a lot of boys from Georgetown Prep and they didn't get very much action. I can't imagine a 17-year-old calling himself "Chairman of the Bored" if he were bragging of sexual conquests.

With Kavanaugh presenting himself as a compleat truthteller, they only need to catch him in one lie. This guy's a tightrope artist. So much easier to go the repentant sinner route.

I'm guessing he's trying to present him as perfect for his wife and young daughters. Problem is, when the next Democrat takes the Office, they'll have full access to all of the W documents proving Kavanaugh lied under oath. Poor, poor daughters. Ambition...

That said, I'm putting the odds Kavanaugh is confirmed at about 99%. Reason? Susan Collins. Listening between her lines, I hear her only needing Kavanaugh to sound credible. I'd put it at 100% but who knows? Kavanaugh might slip up.

The story, if true, perfectly captures the stoogification of men by other men.
