It’s indictment time again….

Maybe you can answer the question I asked: Why did it take so long for Garland to appoint Smith Special Prosecutor if this is so important?

Running for office should have nothing to do with it, unless...... wait for it..... it's entirely political.
Just completely clueless. There was no need for a special counsel prior to November 2022. When Trump announced that month that he was running for president again, he forced Garland's hand regarding the appointment of a special counsel

Trump wanted to get out front of any indictment(s), which he why he announced his campaign for the presidency so early. He could then argue that any subsequent indictment was just a political hatchet job. This third run for the presidency is motivated by a desire to stay out of jail.

He's going to have a parade of witnesses to testify that he's dumb enough to believe he won the election?

If he's convicted, I'll bet you $100 that it does not get overturned.
Trump's apparently going to have to testify that he genuinely believed he won the election even though he knows of no actual evidence that there was enough fraud to overturn Biden's victory.

I still haven't found a definitive answer as to whether Trump will have to take the stand in order to establish his advice of counsel defense.

Oh FFS. Garland appointed a special prosecutor because Trump announced his reelection, and it was inappropriate to continue investigating him through the usual channels after he became a candidate.
Stated otherwise, the standard every day law won't meet our objective, bring in the nukes.

He went 0-32 in lawsuits. If there was an ounce of truth don’t you think he’d have found at least one judge? He knew he lost.
I'm not a lawyer, but weren't some of those thrown out for 'standing'? I don't know any that actually went to trial - they were dismissed before they got to trial. And there wasn't enough time between the election and Jan 6 to make a case.

But this trial will give Trump subpoena power, from what I've read. That should make things interesting.

Trying to overturn an election so he wins through fraud isn’t political. You continue to remove trump’s actions from the equation. Now he’s running again. He removed discretion.
McMurtry, do you think Trump will have to take the stand in order to establish his advice of counsel defense?

Trump’s best move is to throw every ounce of influence he has left behind Desantis in exchange for a promise for a pardon on the fed actions
At this point in Trump life, you think he wants a pardon? It's not like he will go in gen pop, jesus. His time served will be his last, IT will start another civil war, and his time will be more pleasant that Martha Stewart and have a gold
prison" shitter.
These people don't serve time like you would serve time.

Non ... NON were ever allowed to have the facts heard. NON.

I wonder why that is? The judge WAS the jury.

I wonder if the DC case allows his team to finally present their case of evidence? Maybe Smith shit in his own breakfast? AGAIN!

Actually it was more than 50. 0-50. He had no credible evidence. Lies. Stories. Fraud. All dumped. Slump.

Ha no. Taking the stand would be the single dumbest thing he could do.
I agree, but his lawyers are plainly saying today that he is innocent because of the advice of counsel defense.

Can he possibly prove that defense WITHOUT taking the stand?

My guess is the mountain of testimony against him will make anything he says about as credible as the 50 lawsuits he had dismissed

But that's not much of an exaggeration, right? Aren't some of these guys ancient? Danc has got to be pushing 80. Hoopsier talks about having many grandchildren, although I guess it's possible he's a Lauren Boebert type of grandparent (she's a grandmother at the age of 36; nobody's heard of birth control in that family). CoH has got to be close to 90. Goo claims to be in his twenties but I'm convinced he's old, based on his style of writing and the content. This is largely a geriatric assembly.
I’m not exactly young…just young at heart.

The advice of counsel defense requires that he act in complete candor and good faith in dealing with his attorneys. Trump was/is capable of neither.

Also, the "advice" must be reasonable. In this case, that's not a given.

I said this earlier and I'll say it again. Trump's fat ass will never be on the witness stand.

I picture her as an ice cream cone. And would treat her the same.

Didn’t Ivanka even say Daddy knew he lost?
She said she knew his claims of fraud were bogus. I don't know that she ever said he knew he lost.

@zeke4ahs you mentioned you were going to see Oppenheimer. Was it worth three hours in a theater? I'm interested, but it's hard for me to sit still for that long without it being really good.
Yes! Really good. If you can, go to a theater with reclining chairs. It helps.

Trump's post-election litigation? Trials? What are you talking about? They were applications for injunctive and/or other forms of emergent relief.

Exactly the opposite. The special prosecutor is to protect against it becoming political (or even appearing so). If they wanted to do a politically-motivated, biased prosecution, they wouldn't have appointed a special prosecutor.
Of course you're right, but he'll come back with some false equivalence or a goal-post move, and we're off!

I'm going to offer some advice that you probably don't need but I'm going to give it anyway. When dealing with his nonsense, point out the errors and bullshit and then move on. Protracted exchanges with him are pointless and a waste of time. And he feeds off of that.

Denied to present his case. Russia!
Lets not forget, WE the american public have never been allowed to publish software investigation reports, of the vote machines that we use, to choose our leaders. Oh hell no, we leave that to private corporations and still today, are not allowed to examine, and disseminate this software and all of its capabilities and potential hidden capabilities.
The question right now isn't if it can be compromised, our own leadership refuses us the ability to find out. Once again, just like 911, our own protections being used against our own people. Exept this time (maybe) it's our own government providing the obfuscation.
They won't allow the intelligence to be heard. Nothing to see here, please move along JFK.

Oh, I know. When I do respond to him, it's only for the sake of third parties reading the thread who might actually want to see an answer.

Require they all be open source?

Works for me.
