Israel under attack from Hamas

False, Reagan sold arms to the Iranians even after a democrat-led congress made it illegal, hence the Iran-Contra affair. Would they have dropped some bombs to send a message? Who’s to say? But they definitely wanted to engage w a thornier Iran more than Clinton/ Trump. That cannot be disputed. Read about it.
You mean engaging them like sinking half their Navy when they attacked us?

And Obama initiated STUXNET. Doesn’t meant they didn’t engage, Reagan just did it under the table.
And, for the record, engaging Iran and trying to get them to act like a responsible nation is a goal of every administration.

But it's inexplicable why Biden is not retaliating for attacks on our troops.

In my grade school we called it “compare & contrast” and as I got older I learned it was a foundation of human cognition.
Except that's not what you're doing. You're equating diplomatic engagement with non-retaliation against attacks on Americans.

In other words, deflection. I doubt your teacher taught you that.

nah, just trying to explain how both sides of our political aisle have taken turns playing each role, engaging and not engaging with, retaliation and non-retaliation against Iran. and how all that makes Biden's actions 'explicable'. your original premise was that Biden's actions cannot be explained...

bigger picture: the US, under every administration over the last 30 years or so, has done a good job partnering with and arming Israel and Saudi Arabia, getting them to work together. we'd really prefer they fight and act as a balance against Iran. the US has realized our troops, and often our bombs, can do more harm than good, especially in the ME P.R. battle.

lol, come on, you can disagree with my assessment but give me some credit. I'm basically compiling and sharing some pretty well established info. as a "contest of civilizations" geek, I highly recommend George Friedman. He used to to run a private intelligence firm called Stratfor. I've worked with him many times. modern concepts of geopolitics have been gaining momentum as a field for decades. Trust me, it's how the eggheads at the pentagon and state department are currently viewing the world. I spent the first part of my career as a project manger/ executive for a a consulting firm that aggregated/ analyzed data re: regional trends/ threats for financial services companies. absolutely loved it.

STUXNET vs blowing their Navy out of the water. Sure, that's comparable.

STUXNET was absolutely comparable. at the time it was assessed as having put Iran's nuclear program back by about 2 years. a program most think they've now largely abandoned. the US also knew it was going to spread well beyond targeted networks. pretty ballsy.

I was a fan of Reagan's foreign policy. current US policy towards the ME was in its infancy then and he was steering the ship. he was a Kissinger guy. populism was restricted to Ross Perot types.

Priorities: get released from captivity and immediately go get Botox.
Poor form, Goat. Poor form.

That woman just went through hell. Thought she was going to be raped every single day of her captivity, I'm sure.

But let's go to the substance here: Let's assume for now she's telling the truth. Does it matter w/r/t how much leeway we give Israel (give as in our own personal moral judgments, not policy/pressure politically) in prosecuting this war?

No, I think ultimately we're going to give Israel as much leeway as they want, regardless.

And lighten up. You telling me you didn't notice those lips?

Goat!! Learn your lady remedies. Botox isn’t for lips, it’s for wrinkles. Fillers are for lips. 😎

Are you actually implying that Iran has "largely abandoned" their nuclear program... ???

Which galaxy are you a visitor from?

Let me guess..., you're impressed by Jake Sullivan's moves as National Security Advisor too...

This was close to a year ago:

Most sane people don't believe they've given up their nuclear weapons program...
