Israel under attack from Hamas

There is a Christmas in July night, how many other nights for religious holidays?

I bring that up as I recall the first post I ever noticed by Toasted was his complaint about a local college to him offering discounts to a basketball game for people bringing a worship bulletin from their church. That would be a complaint about Christianity being shoved down his throat. I suggested I don't care about such issues, if the team wanted to sell reduced tickets to people attending synagogues, it would be quite fine for me.

The trick is that these things need to be celebrating groups as equal members of society. So celebrating gays, or straight, as valuable members of our melting pot is great. But a day suggesting one group is superior, it is a problem.

I suspect that even today a gay couple holding hands receive comments and looks that straight couples do not. So until we get to where we don't give a damn, it doesn't bother me a team wants to make it clear gays are welcome.
They had Christian day a few years back and the lgb community through a fit bc the speaker was against gay marriage etc. I’m honestly not a big fan of that day either bc it feels selective. For lack of a better term

You're the naive one if you think they somehow just pulled the trigger on a whim. You can't do that with an operation like this. It was already happening no matter what.
I think you're right. And it's no coincidence the day they picked.

That said, the wider point is worth discussing: how exactly should we treat Iran and what strategy will bring them back into the group of civilized nations? At this point, I'm not so sure Carter shouldn't have gone in, in 1979, and wiped out the Islamic Revolution.

I've already said more than once I'm willing to concede we might need to pivot. But that doesn't justify making unsupportable charges.

Any flavor.

What other nights relate to sexual preference? You still don’t see the point or the difference in kind. Shark night and gay pride night are not the same
Sharks need loving too.

We know what you're saying. We're just not sure you know what you're saying. You at least got closer to the point this this post.

Every night at a game there is something. We get you might not like 'sexual preference night', but that's not slammed in your face anymore than shark night is. Just say that. That's a discussion worth having. Being adjacent to something doesn't mean it slammed in your face.

you still are missing the point as you can't discern the difference in the nature of nights. like brad i really have zero use for you. i've yet to see you find the point on any topic. you essentially just bring a vapid far left superficial knowledge to all of your "arguments." yet you somehow still are able to convey a smugness that's pretty gross, particularly in light of the fact that you're obviously not very bright and have zero ability to think critically. carry on. i don't expect to reply to you in the future.

LOL

I get the difference in the nature of nights, but I doubt anything happens differently those nights than on other nights. They don't try to convert you. They don't make out in front of you...well...maybe some do, but no different than a hetero couple might.

You think Pride night is thrown in your face, but the other nights aren't. I'm contending none of them are thrown in your face any more or any less than others.

Don't be a snowflake.

omfg pride night isn't of the same nature as shark night, ozzie smith night, and blues night. just like blm night would certainly be of a different nature. politicized, etc. it's wholly different. and why you see nhl players refusing to wear pride jerseys etc. BECAUSE OF THE IMPLICATIONS OF THE NATURE OF THE EVENT/MESSAGING.

And you only view those things as political movements. That's where we really disagree.

They aren't just political movements.

You think companies the post their support for those things are only doing so due to their politics. That's pretty sad and cynical on your part, but according to you I'm the superficial one. Got it.

I'm all for gay rights. i'm all for gays living any way they wish. i'm all for black lives mattering and enjoying equality of opportunity through whatever changes are required. pride night is of a different nature than the other sponsored nights and having rainbow uniforms is shoving it in the faces of those in the stands. as is blm on a basketball court. as is making nhl players wear rainbow jerseys, hence the backlash.

Is it different than other nights when they wear alternative uniforms or something to signify the occasion or pass out memorabilia?

Imagine if the entire city of Indianapolis tried to go to Evansville on the same weekend.
They better hurry. They are being given more of a chance than the people at that music festival or in the town where they were killing children in their beds.

War is ugly. The Israelis are giving quarter that they would never be given in return by their enemies. After Saturday they aren't likely to just say, "OK, we're good now" until Hamas is crushed.

The whole area should be given a month to get out.

All of this over buildings and spots on maps for thousands of years. Religion is grand.

I'll say it's a subjective topic. He feels it's thrown in his face then that's his reality. It's not wrong or right. Others don't really notice it and don't feel it's thrown in their face then that's their reality. Agree to disagree.
