This place is dead.So here's a thread about songs that when you see them live are guaranteed to get you off your ass and fistpumping.I have limited knowledge of other artists, but at a Bruce show that is Born To Run and Badlands. And esp in Italy and Spain, the joint is hoppin...

Hey Steve-Since nobody else had any contributions to the original thread intent,I'll just use this thread to share Bruce-related things of possible interest to you,Brockway, and any others...

Don't know if you guys listen to E Street Radio, but one of my favorite features is "I'm The Boss" where fans take over and play DJ and relate personal experiences for an hour.A guy this week had a great show, pointed out how his Son's first show was Seeger Sessions and it inspired the son to p/u the guitar, and play BTR dedicated to his dad at his first recital.Guy had seen some really off the wall shows-
Kennedy Honors,Music Cares, the Tampa show following Clarence's funeral.Said this opener from Hyde Park in 2012 was one of his most memorable moments...

Also love the celebrity version where many famous folks come on and sometimes surprise with how big a fan they are.Really interesting show from Bob Ley (ESPN) the other day talking about driving to multiple shows on various tours using Bristol as home base.

Heard Melissa Etheridge yesterday talking about growing up in Kansas with Bruce as her hero. When they signed her to do "Unplugged" they asked her if there was anyone she'd like to duet with, and she just threw Bruce out there. She said she was thrilled when he agreed, and that she couldn't sleep she was so excited. There's a video of her and Bruce doing Thunder Road-pretty cool...

But the most off the wall thing I've heard recently was when Stevie guested and said that he had tried for 3 yrs to convince David Chase to use "Loose Ends" for the Sopranos finale rather than "Don't Stop Believing".He certainly has a point about LE being more lyrically relevant, and he's always called it one of his favorite songs.

But can you imagine what that would have done to generate renewed interest and ticket sales for Tracks? Here's a version along with 78 Prove It from the 4hrs 2012 Helsinki WB tour closer...

What up brother? I listen to E Street radio, but mostly just the live shows during my work commute. I'm trying to decide if I rank The River tour so highly because it's the most recent, and I personally had one of the best times of my life that night, or because it was just that good. Anyway, I enjoy the historical tidbits, as you are like my buddy in Phoenix that keeps up with all things Bruce much more than I these days.

I love this intro from Steve-I want to bring out a friend of mine who's out of work...From RedBank back in May at a Disciples of Soul show

Hey Steve, did your Bud in Phoenix go to the River show with Joe Maddon?

not to be Debbie Downer, but i'm still pissed about this after 25 plus yrs.

saw Bruce at MSA, 2nd row on the floor.

i had worn out the needle on BTR and Darkness albums, so really pumped.

songs he didn't do at all,

Thunder Road

Backstreets

She's The One

Jungleland

Badlands

Candy's Room

Racing In The Streets

and he did Born To Run acoustic only.

i mean WTF Bruce?

This place is dead. I've was traveling this week and checked in one night and saw the same posts at the top. We need a good McNutt post about beating up someone or a trip to the gynecologist!

They actually played it together the day before in a tent at Glastonbury.Bruce must have studied the words after his Glasto show Sat night, because when they played it at Hyde Park on Sun he knew them better...

After reprising the guest appearance with Gaslight at Hyde Park, Bruce surprised Bryan by taking a sign request for No Surrender, and inviting Brian to sing on stage. It's on the official DVD (which has been removed from youtube)

Brian did a guest stint on E Street Radio a while back that was really well conceived and informative. He analyzed the influence of soul music on various Springsteen songs, and these were really obscure things that for the most part I wasn't even familiar with. He's a lot deeper than he might seem at first glance...

Here's Bruce "saluting" his hometown with a song he wrote specifically to perform at a fundraiser in his old Catholic school.I'm sure we can all relate...

Speaking of show openers,I love this video of the opening of the tour finale for the WB/High Hopes tour at Uncasville in 2014.It was predictable that he'd play Roll of the Dice at some point (since he was in a casino),but I don't think people believed he'd open with it like this.

That final leg of the tour started in April with the free show at the FF4 in Dallas, and after getting home from Dallas, I headed to Cincy 2 nights later and then to Columbus a week later.Shorts weather in Cincy and a freaking blizzard a week later in Columbus...

This is the way to celebrate the end of a nearly 3 year tour...

Since this is the day we celebrate Independence/Freedom,here's a look back at an event that some believe had profound historical significance.Bruce performed for 300,000+ East Germans in 1988 in a free concert that was the largest concert ever in East Germany. The cover of Chimes of Freedom was the highlight...

How about this for a 4th of July (sad) memory. From Indy in 2008,in what turned out to be Danny's final appearance on a stage. He was in the hospital and they checked him out and flew him and his doctor to Indy to give him the oppty to play on a few songs.I was in the Pit,and we mistakenly thought Danny showing up meant he was getting better. The sad reality is that he died within 2 weeks...

And here's an incredible performance of Independence Day (solo piano) from July 4,2012 in Paris...

So about this same time last year, the River tour stopped in Paris for 2 fantastic nights.Opening night July 11,Bruce opened with a solo piano version of Incident.

During the applause, the Band snuck onstage and they launched into this incredible version of Reason To Believe (which get's us back to the theme of this thread)-openers that get you off your ass...

They followed that up 2 nights later with the only "Full River" show of the European leg, another unanticipated, but wildly appreciated move.I got this vid in my youtube thread today, and that's what inspired me to reminisce and post.
And how about the shout out to yours truly,at around the 3min mark...
