Holy Leal

He kicked a boiler in the nuts and helped hold an overrated Leprechaun to his worst game this year. IU needed toughness, even though can't hit two FT in a row, he brought needed grit. Give him praise .... do it. lol ...
No chance. Glad we won and hate PU.

Who would have bet Leal was going to be better then Carlyle to start the season.

Gave it that thank god after he didn’t get tossed. I mean…. What were the refs looking at? Airball then a nut kick 🥜 . If that was anyone else for any other team half of you are casting him to hell. Don’t be a hypocrites. That was a horse shit dirty play. He isn’t a good basketball player, he relies on dirty tricks just like every player I hear you whine about.
You clearly didn't watch the replay and were about as astute as Steve Lappas was.

He should not be on the floor is the point. If he were good we would have not lost 8 of the last 10 (you know when he started to start). Anyone with a brain could tell you we will suck with Leal and gallo as our starting backcourt.

Leal is better than Kanaan for sure. That’s on Woody for having to play Leal. He wouldn’t sniff the floor for an SEC team.
Today, Leal = 8 pts., 5 rebs., 4 asts., 3 stls., 2 blks., 0 TOs.

Compare him to Smith today, Yet, Cavanaugh (without a sarcasm meter) says he should not be on the floor.

Back to being a video editor for Cavanaugh.

Fair enough. I just don’t like guys that have to rely on being “crafty”. It’s not bball. It’s flopping and trying to dupe the system. I hate it for other big ten teams and no different for Leal. Only happens in the big ten. sec doesn’t do this shit.
Smith does "this shit." Smith jerks and flops.
So does Kaufman-Renn.

That's not why Purdue lost today.

Steve Lappas was ready to call 2 techs on Leal and eject him. I guess he hasn't see good old big ten basketball up close.

CBS had their head up their collective ass when they sent Lappas for this game. A battle for bragging rights in Indiana so they send an east coast guy who didn't know squadoosh about either team and couldn't keep his foot out of his mouth.

Out of 27 games, Woodson has started Leal in only 9 games and has put Leal onto the floor in only 21.

In comparison, Woodson started Carlyle in 6 games and put Carlyle on the floor in 20 games.

Tonight's game showed the importance of playing Leal and not playing Carlyle, who just isn't ready. For much of the season, Woodson seems to have misjudged Leal's value immensely.

If you can kick a Turdue player in the nuts and get away with it, you kick him in the nuts! State law! Play on.

Furst fouled him and then tried to trip him and Leal kicked him. Kudos to the refs for letting it go.
Exactly. Right in front of us. The refs certainly didn’t go and study the film and then say naw, let’s give IU a solid here. I don’t think Leal even knew where he was kicking, just trying to get free and run down Court.

Furst's arm/armpit came down on Leal's arm while 6-10 Furst was falling backwards. Leal's arms were stretched out like a crucifix while Furst pulled on him. Then, Furst kicked at Leal's ankle, trying to trip him while the ball was live and Furst's ass was on the floor out of bounds.
Officials got it right. They both just fell.. no foul.

For much of the season? Hell, maybe for several seasons. What would he be like if he had been given some playing time over the last five seasons?

I was actually looking down court when it happened so had to rely on the replays there and late last night.

They got tangled up and Furst clearly pulled him down and then tried to trip Leal as he got up. Bush league shit by Furst for sure but no HnH on him IMO. Maybe a common foul because Leal kicks back either to free his leg or kick him...no one knows for sure but Anthony and the Purdue fans.

AL is a fantastic kid and it would be 100 miles out of character for him to kick him in the junk intentionally. Furst also plays it up bigly considering he was barely touched if at all.

Anthony is fortunate he did not get tossed, and they could have called offsetting fouls...but I think they got it right.

Purdue players sob and cry like middle school girls after every call and it is killing their focus. Painter has to get them off of their echo chamber social media where pu fans are sobbing uncontrollably and back in the game before they end up an eight seed.

What are you talking about. All Leal does is dirty stuff to get calls. He is literally smiling after every time he tricks the refs into calls. Coach T on Assembly call said he does the floo move on moving picks on purpose. Drives to their hips and falls. He called it part of his tenacious D or something… no coach that’s called a bush league flop.

Galloway did NOT invade his space. The offensive player closed the gap & use an elbow to the face. Hence, F1.
I have no idea what the announcer was doing there. He kept saying “Galloway invaded his space!!” while they were showing the replay of Galloway standing STRAIGHT UP while TKR leaned into him with a vicious elbow.

Smart kid gets the most out of his ability.

Plays with heart

Nothing dirty

Great kid

Will be very very successful in business.

He did lean in, but it wasn't vicious.

Having seen the game in AH, I was not even aware of Leal’s kick to the nut-sac until viewing a video replay last night. What immediately struck me was Furst’s first reaction to it, that being his complaint to the referee with his hands in the air while getting up before running down court. Shouldn’t he have stayed down, doubled over and writhing in pain? If he had, a technical surely would have been called on Leal. Instead, the incident was seen as a “no harm/no foul” so play on, a good call on the no-call.

I mentioned elsewhere earlier how at halftime all the Purdue people were prancing around with an extra bounce to their steps, all high and mighty giving high-fives to one another. My brother and I always walk a lap around the entirety of the place at halftime for the exercise so we witnessed a lot of Purdue clowns sporting big smiles on their faces for their 12 pt lead. Confronted by one of them in the congested area of the beer line, I looked him in the eye saying, “It ain’t over yet!” and got a smirk back. Realizing this story is getting too long, let me put an end to it by saying I like to think this PU guy remembered my haunting words as he was having trouble getting to sleep last night. That had to be a gut-wrenching loss of humiliating proportion after their dominating first half. I like that, having woken up with a smile on my face after sleeping like a baby.
