Haven't been in years, but always enjoyed ice fishing as a kid/teen. I was a way better and more determined fisherman then though too, but I wonder if I'd still like it, because the cold gets to me now. Now I just use fishing as an excuse to get out on the water most of the time; especially freshwater. Now, salties, get my energy flowing and also not done through ice, but when I'm fishing saltwater, I am a more determined fisherman still.Gave it up 12 yrs ago. Just don’t like the cold. Strikemaster auger and Vex been sitting on a shelf in garage for more than a decade.
Got out yesterday and as expected the water was high and muddy. No strikes, but did see a couple bass jump. Great to be out on the water, but I was surprised by the lack of wildlife. Saw a few cormorants and geese, but we usually see osprey and herons and sometimes spy an eagle and on occassion otters. Nothing really out yesterday despite it being the nicest day in a couple weeks and 60. The deer were out en masse, even during the day. So were the birds at my feeders, but not on the river!
