Hey Snarl

@snarlcakes what’s another crypto you like besides Bitcoin?

I would buy Cignetticoin.
@snarlcakes may make so much on Bitcoin that he will donate the $10M per year to cover the salary we will need to pay Cig to keep him.

I went to a FB game Saturday for first time in probably 15-20 years. I would have never believed it was possible to experience the feeling in the Stadium.

My wife and I sat next to Pete Obremskey and his wife. He went to his car early. He played for IUMBB in the mid/late 50s. His 88 year old wife stayed until the last second ticked off. I think she told us they had been attending for 70 years. We helped get her to their car after the game. Man I hope I have their energy and minds at 88.

I would have thought that this was a typo, but then realized that you were talking about a woman. A happy one, but still. :)
Both of them had strong minds. We had great time talking to them. He played at IU with Sam Gee who was from Washington Indiana and my neighbor in another life.

I totally get that and wasn't disparaging her specifically, just roll with the "minds".... we've all experienced their "skills". I do find it funny that he went to the car, she hung out. No matter how great she is, HE knows!! hhahahahaha
Anyway, it was just meant in jest and utilize the stereotype.

No problem. It was an enjoyable Saturday.

But all those fabled Cubbies, off to find their fortunes elsewhere. Maybe if they had stayed home Chicago could have had some pennants. Outside of Schwarber, what have they done?
You can say anything you want to, Univee. And losing Schwarber, one of my all-time favorite Cubs hurts.

But I have 2016 and I always will. I honestly never thought I'd see it. My grandparents didn't get to, and all of them were big Cubs fans. My mom and dad have been fans since they were kids. I saw it. Lived through it. And am still enjoying it. Kinda like this year with IU--and guess what happened in both 2016 and 2024?

I get it. But it’s like breaking up a great band and nobody ever finds the same level they had before. That Cubs team should have been held together and they could have become legends and I bet they would have several more rings. Rizzo should have retired as a Cub. Hell, Schwarber would have streets and schools named after him.

Now, I don’t know all that happened to break up the band. I don’t remember who took the free agency bucks and who was traded. But I bet some of these guys might be looking back down the road, saying “man, I wish I had stayed.”

The most intense sporting moment of my life was watching game 7. It was amazing.

They did stay together and it didn't work. Won 90+ games the next two years, but couldn't get by the Dodgers and the Brewers. Schwarber fell off for awhile; Bryant started getting hurt all the time. Baez turned into a stud then sucked. The pitching fell off--Lester and Arietta were never as good again. Castro turned into a wife beater and couldn't hit after 2016. And they spent a ton of money on Yu Darvish who never was healthy enough to do anything. Lots of things. I wish they would have kept Maddon, though. Even though he almost blew the WS with his pitching decisions, I really liked the guy.

Shows how closely I followed them. Didn’t know all that.

But, “You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone . . . . “

Signing Heywood to the God awful contract was almost criminal.

Thanks for the defense, but a guy signing the biggest player contract in Cubs history at the time should have hit higher the .270 with 21 home runs and never had more then 62 rbi during his time in Chicago.

Everybody wanted him and the analytics were on an upward trend.

Unfortunately, Heyward's swing, at least in Chicago, never met the eye test. Too long, too linear. Couldn't consisently stay rotational.
