Here's my issue with the Archie has us on an upward path argument ...

Would you be less concerned if Archie employ the Crean model and went out and signed the next April or Priller?

.[/QUOTE]

Oh...well, I thought IU hired Archie to be an upgrade from Crean.
I am now realizing many on here have the same or lowered expectations...and that surprises me.

I have very high expectations but I am also aware enough that patience is a virtue and as RMK has stated things take time.

I asked a question which you conveniently refused to answer. Hmmm.

I dont really know how to answer what you are asking...

On one hand you blame the injuries and the lack of ability to go 5 on 5 for team development in defense of Archie.

Then on the other you defend Archie having lost 8 or 9 players, and only filling in 2 or 3...while praising him for not using scholarships...

If you would end the praising on both sides, you’d have satisfactorily answered your own question one way or the other...and I think we’d then be in agreement.

Archie has been a HC 8 years.

He’s only made the tournament 4 times.

2 of those times he lost first round. Another time in the 2nd round.

So he’s made it to the Sweet 16 once and that was the Elite 8 year.

There are at least 100 coaches out there with better resumes than that.
Yes, the record you state is correct. Now let's look at it IN CONTEXT. First two years at Dayton, he had one season with no post-season, and one with an NIT appearance. THEN, after he started putting in his system with his own recruits, he went to the NCAAs EVERY YEAR while he was the coach there. He's now had two years at IU - also with a non post-season year and an NIT year. He's on the same path that he was on at Dayton, but you've already made up your mind that he's worthless.

Mr. Negativity strikes again. I'd hate to be you. What a terrible way to live.

Shocker I know but IU isn’t Dayton and just making the tournament isn’t an accomplishment. Well I guess it would be for Archie but it shouldn’t be.

WTF are you talking about??

I asked a simple question and then you go into some obtuse soliloquy that made zero sense.

I don't "blame" injuries" for anything. It is just a fact that IU had an inordinate amount of injuries this year. Those injuries hurt the development of the team per Coach's comments which I tend to believe.

And then more of this BS about Archie losing 8 or 9 players. You have been schooled on that before by a couple of posters. Do I really need to go through it again?

I have not "praised" Archie for not using scholarships. Please cut and paste where I have. What I said was he has two scholarship players coming in for five spots and I would be very surprised if some or all of the remaining three scholarships are not used before next year. Archie is trying to build a team unlike his predecessor.

You appear to be criticizing Archie for having three open scholarships. My question, which you still have failed to answer is, Would you want him to fill those spots for the sake of filling them like Crean did with Priller, April, etc?

Do you have a reversible jacket available we can borrow?

Let me guess: one side IU to be worn Jan - Mar. One side Notre Dame worn August - Dec?

I have no animosity towards ND football, in fact as an Irish Catholic from Chicago I actually root for them, but guys like Tru2 who would root for NDFB over IUFB are the absolute worst.

Holy crap... are you really that obtuse? Do you like arguing just for the sake of arguing?

Stop changing the goalposts. You stated that Archie was worse than Crean. I continue to show you why what you said was ridiculous. And it still is ridiculous no matter how you slice it.

You haven’t shown me anything. There is no comparison between Crean’s accomplishments and Archie’s. None. Except maybe for mid major win percentage.

"Believe what you want. I don't have time to reply to your childish insults anymore."

"It doesn't really matter to me what you think. I said last night that a decision was coming today and it was likely Archie. I don't know what else you want. It's a solid hire in my opinion." fpeaugh
