You seem to know a thing or two about East Asian culture. I've noticed that it's very common for Japanese people to reverse the order of their names to match English naming conventions, but very rare for Koreans or Chinese to do the same. Do you have idea why this is?

You change it if you have to use it in the West so as to make it less confusing for the uninformed.

Many Chinese who have lived or studied in the West particularly in the States (and less so in the UK), would change their names. I never had a problem since I always went with my initials ever since boarding school (-- school convention when you have people with similar surnames.)

Without any statistical evidence, so just observational; they tend to use the term 'surnames' in Asia rather than 'Family name' in the States in official forms or online.
The subtle diff is that we are supposed to be a family first and thus the family/surname comes first.
The Indians tend to use the abbreviation s/o ie son of in the past. Less so now.
