In all seriousness, things have not been going well with us and them. I do not believe any of us wants to start a shooting war with the other. Perhaps this is a chance to sit down and change our current trajectory. That does not mean capitulation either. We let them know wherected we stand and they lay out where they stand and we try to get back to trust but verify.

Perhaps Putin sees a way to save some face and get himself out of the corner he has been painting himself into.
