Good job washed up old grandpa

In the Knight era the IU "fan base" was even larger. There were tens of thousands of what I always called "Knight-o-philes" who were not grads, most had never set foot on campus, never donated a dime, but they were Bobby by god Knight fans.

They got a $10 IU tee shirt from Walmart for Christmas and wore it constantly. Some that got tickets for christmas for the games students weren't there were easy to spot. Throwing their arms in the air protesting calls...just like Bobby.

Most disappeared when Knight was fired, some slithered in to this hate group called "Hooploopers" or similar posting hateful things about Mike Davis and Myles Brand.

So our fanbase is a bit smaller but better these days. They were never IU fans.
My understanding is that Ducati is still here.

Like I said, I do despise the elite, exclusionary attitude that some of my Boiler friends seem to possess. It's good that our fanbase appeals to people who are "Indiana proud". The reversible jacket group though seem to bring their Domer delusions with them.

You're getting attacked because of your posting style. We get it you want to win, so do we. What the issue is isn't about wanting to win or anything like that... it's the posting.

Though you're not near as bad as some.. there needs to be some substance to the post. or the board just turns into a vast sea of dumb.

Criticizing the coach or players, especially when valid is fine. But it needs some validation. Saying you hate the rotations is fine. Talking about basketball is fine.. but that's not what some of you do.

Some of you come off as angry and make knee jerk, outlandish claims with very little actual proof, but present it as finite fact ... All that is is attention whoring.

Just because you're willing to incessantly complain doesn't mean it makes you a better or more concerned fan .. nor does it make you knowledgeable or interesting. .. it's just makes you incessantly annoying.

Also not every f**king loss equals an assessment of the program, the failures of the last 30 years, or the need of a new coach... Sometimes it can just carry the weight of a loss ..
Fair enough but at what point will IU turn the corner? As bad as the group complaining is the group that tells those that it’s all great and “watch and learn”.
You know basketball, I respect what you write when it comes to “basketball” but you attack those that are not happy with the program and come off as a jerk. Just like me I get pissed during games and post short post because I’m pissed. I get it and that’s why I take it and stick with the back and forth dialogue. It’s fun sometimes. Same with @Victorbmyboy we butt heads but I respect his basketball knowledge

Well revisit this come selection Sunday.
Sure Indiana gonna win a few.But they'll be pressed to win big games to get in
So there. Now you know how works..
There is still a lot of season left and who knows how they develop. Still a lot of weakness but I see some real development going on despite warts. We need a to find a way to win home games and still one or two more on the road. You have been consistently negative and entitled to your opinion but I prefer to let the season play out like I always have. I have not seen anybody in a lot of years on these pages that I always read their observations like I used to on the old Rivals board. We all know how much things can change from home to road and game to game.

All I know we are 3-1 with 16 to go and tied for second after 4 games. Rutgers is a wounded team and they have beaten us the last several years especially at Rutgers. Personally, hoping for 2-0 week but my mind says loss at Rutgers and win vs Minnesota although they have won their last 6 games.

That’s the life of an IU fan isn’t it??? Being miserable every year
We are not miserable but you sure are. We are not great, and it is not what it was like through 1993 but as frustrating as they can be they still have a chance to be decent. Whether Woodson is the right guy still too early to tell but I will take his knowledge of what IU should and can be over you negative guys that probably could not coach a 3rd grade team.

They should watch high school ball where it still works. There's no true motion anymore, not the RMK type, not even the Carolina type..

Everyone runs set plays.... this fanbase learned basketball from RMK. He always did a good job explaining his philosophies and going into detail about what he wanted. I really wish more coaches would do that.

That doesn't mean and has never meant his way was the only way. It's not ...
Painter doesn’t run motion?

Really dude. Let’s have a beer and discuss me STFU.

Wow you are telling Aloha to STFU is really rich. He has been around longer than you have been a fan of ND or IU although I do truly question that you have any real affinity to cheer IU at all. As I said I will take Woody and his passion for what IU has been and should be over the posters on here. Just for reference I was an IU and graduated the same year Woody did. That crippled body has given more to and for IU basketball than any of us posters on here. What he did his senior year makes him an IU icon alone in my book but hey I have only been cheering and attending games since a kid in the 60's.

Dukati tore all of his IU stuff off of his trailer wall and put up pu stuff. He is now TwinDegree or something like that and became the mayor of GBI.

The thing that people miss most about RMK has really nothing to do with style of offense.
The game has changed but…..what hasn’t changed is that you cannot make stupid turnovers, show undisciplined play and not give maximum effort for 40 minutes.
All of that is non-negotiable.
That’s what people miss about Knight.

How many minutes did Ware play the last 10 minutes?
Can't tell you for sure. I just know that there was a point with maybe three minutes to go, where Walker was blown by on two successive possessions and Ware came in to replace him.

In case you (or anyone) are curious, iuhoosiers.com posts the play-by-play and box scores for every game. Ware subbed out with 9:23 left in the 2nd half and came back in with 2:28 remaining. He was in and out a few times after that until the end of the game. You could calculate time played but it was around 11-12 minutes.

Ok I’m the ass for you not reading the comments correct? Good day sir
You are right I got that wrong, but you have acted like some sports expert about Indiana basketball. Honest question where is your expertise coming from. Since you think Woodson is such a terrible coach and IU basketball sucks. What level did you play the game and at what level did you coach the game to gain your so-called expertise.

I am just an old guy with opinions who has been an IU sports fan since a kid when they went to the Rose Bowl and started attending games in person when I became a student at IU in 1976. For reference that was Woodson's freshman year and Kent Benson's senior year. Remember earlier that year IU went 32-0 and won the national championship. So yes, I am a passionate fan and criticize from my seat at the games or in front of the TV but not on here during a game because people make irrational generalizations before, during and after games win or lose.

Oh, if you want to have a beer and discuss IU or Notre Dame sports in a reasonable manner, I would be happy to do that sometime. Maybe Aloha could join us, and you can have one of your negative friends on here invited also.

I have played sports and coached sports but do not possess the expertise to do anything more than share my observations and opinions based on a long history of attending IU, being a season ticket holder for years in football, men's basketball and women's basketball. I am a 24/7 IU sports fan and supporter and very passionate.

Also, in regard to Notre Dame sports I grew up in South Bend during the Ara and Dan Devine days. I have attended games including the IU game that we got throttled the last time IU played in South Bend. I remember watching in person Austin Carr score over 50 points in a game and the 1973 national football team, The football players were so pampered that injured players were taken to classes on then a very small campus in a golf cart. Frank Pomarico a starting guard on that team was my student teacher in a business class at Jackson High School now a middle school. He had a size 16 ring and by today's standards was a small lineman.

If you want to have a discussion about any of these happy to have them. I am not an expert just a fan with observations and an opinion who tries to be realistic while supportive of our teams in all sports.

You're right, of course, but why do they bury it under "View PDF"? That sounds like the PDF version of the box score.

One thing I don't understand about 'washed up old grandpa'.
I like Coach, I think he's a good coach. But do his teams always stink at rebounding? It feels like it.

Rebounding is fundamental. I get nervous about whether a team is well coached if they aren't better than the other teams on the boards.

All it takes is some knowledge and training. That's 50%. The other half is desire. If guys refuse to rebound, it's bench time.

I don't understand how an old school coach doesn't have the hungriest rebounding team?

Sure, I'm nervous sometimes about our shooting. But IMO rebounding is even more coachable and more fundamental. But maybe I'm remembering wrong but it seems most 'big' games that's where we get our butts kicked.

NO team can afford to give up free possessions.

We are a poor fundamental team. Maybe him being an ex NBA coach, he isn’t used to focusing on the little things.

I don't get that. He's not blind. He sees we had trouble with rebounding, he remarked on it in the post-game interviews, yet he forgets to address it in practice because "he's an ex NBA coach" ??

I can sort of see the argument that coming in, fundamentals might have been somthing he wasn't accustomed to having to spend time on. But as soon as it was glaringly obvious, how could he not be trying to address it?

I think we need to see the next three or four more games before we start thinking we have turned some kind of corner . It was a nice home win but if we go to rutgers and get blown out it will not mean much. We really need to win both of the next two. The next three after that are:

Purdue at home
Illnois away
Wisconsin away

Those three could all easily be losses so the next two are key.

I think that is the main frustration right?
Simple things like blocking out, setting good screens, defensive rotations, ball fakes, passing out of a double team. Things that well coached teams do but may not have the talent of other teams. I have not witnessed a practice but I have a close relative who coaches high school in the state. They have been to both iu and pu practices and he said it is night and in difference of practices and intensity.

It's a ridiculous claim to begin with.

Maybe, the players just have a bad habit of ball watching they haven't broken yet.

Ulrey and BSmitty unlike either of you I will own up to my mistakes. I did not get any response to this. I have never held myself up as an expert or being more knowledgeable than Coach Woodson. I am a passionate Hoosier fan and graduate, season ticket holder for three sports, cheer all Hoosier teams and even have time to not hate ND because of my connections there. Just as another reference for that beer and discussion my mother-in-law had ND football season tickets for 62 years and retired from ND. My brother in laws in the original stadium painted the markings on the seats to shrink them from 18" to 12" to increase seating capacity.

Regardless, your pattern of blind faith of Woody with no substance to your post other than “watch and learn is pathetic. At least I will post my reasoning for why the program looks like shit
