For what reason? Because Knight used to do it? Not many do that anymore .. and fwiw - there's not a single bench player we have that has earned replacing a starter because of one half of play.
Also, and most importantly, finishing > starting.
There's no full proof method that guarantees success, it isn't what you do, it's how you do it that counts. He makes correct moves he makes mistakes.. and people don't understand every move has a counter move and the other team is actually allowed to try and stop it and often do. Nothing is failproof.
Example about him being a coach and not a puppet master; late 1st with fouls to give, he puts Mack in and tells him to foul. Well, he fouled about 5 secs too early. That compounds with Trey picking up a 2nd and then compounds with an early 2nd half 3rd. Blunder..
2nd example; he puts Mack in late game to receive inbound pass as he's our best FT shooter, Mack holds the ball too long against the trap and travels. Blunder ..
If we would have lost both those moves would be pointed out as bad coaching, when they were player mistakes.
I absolutely hate the scripted first half rotations, especially early in the year but he goes to more common rotations and his best options in the 2nd and has shortened lineups as the season goes.. There was nothing different last night except IU won.
