I can understand why they are jaded and unmotivated. Relatively speaking they make less money than any other recent generation. And they have more education debt than any generation.

We have a lot of Gen z kids on our sales team. We are trying to figure out what motivates them beyond just money. Base pay has to come up. Thats for sure. We just raised it and probably need to again.

Hell, my oldest grandson won't be 6 years old for another few months and he's already juggling 3 girlfriends and circumventing parental locks on all their smart devices and making covert online purchases. The 16 month old only has a spoken vocabulary of a few words but can swipe, zoom in and out on a tablet and open apps by name. It's nuts.

He said that his mom had OD'ed this morning. He said that she was still alive, for now anyway. I asked WTF are you here then? He said that he isn't one to miss work and would feel bad not coming in.
I said get the eff out of here, go be with your mom! Then I got a big old dad type hug.

I'll probably fire him Monday.
