From a UK fan

We have multiple banners and FFs since 1987. We are still competitive and challenge every single year. You can't even make the tournament and have been past the S16 once in nearly three decades. An entire generation of IU fans has never even seen IU basketball be relevant.

You going to answer my question or avoid it?

*and 98. You also forgot to mention that UK has the most wins all-time, the highest winning percentage, and has won titles under five different coaches. ...just to name a few.

98? The kids playing weren't even born yet. That's what you're bragging about?

UK fans are obsessed with us which is why you are here and we are not there. You know what wasn't a long time ago? IU whooping UK in the sweet 16 in 2016.

Well you aren't there because considering where the programs are currently they'd mop the floor with you if you tried to talk up IU over UK. Also, I'm sure your emotions just got to you when you were going for that sick insult but the game you're referring to wasn't a sweet 16 game.

lol You have one more national title than us dating back to the 1950's.....yet you think your program has been successful in the tournament? Ooook.

I don't think many people are judging success in the field of 68 off of things in the 1950s. Even the 01-02 runner up team might be too long ago now since the kids teams are recruiting now were likely born the following year and after. I personally think it's dumb to judge an entire season off of the tournament anyway but looking at the two schools mentioned you have the following

UK's success in the life of a 2020 recruit would be 15 trips to the tournament, 10 sweet 16s, 9 elite 8s, 4 final 4s, and a title.

IU's success in that same timeframe would be 8 trips to the tournament and 3 sweet 16s.

IMO though IU will start returning to the tournament each year soon. Phinisee, the 19' and 20' classes that Archie has got so far, and a loaded Indiana high school group for the class of 21 should have a lot of talent on Archie's teams in the future.

That's your response?

actually made me laugh out loud though. Since one of the only opinions I gave on actual basketball was saying that IU could be a consitant tournament team again maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Good call

And let's not mention the fact that you had one of the most morally reprehensible coaches in the history of basketball coaching at IU, but Lord have mercy he "did it the right way" and never "broke any rules".
Quick question: does Kentucky still have a banner in Rupp Arena worshipping a convicted felon?

Don't care what Pitino did at UL Irrelevant.

1. "If rape is inevitable, enjoy it".
2. Neil Reed
3. Knight is charged and later tried and convicted in absentia for hitting a policeman before practice at the Pan American Games in Puerto Rico
4. Knight gets involved during Final Four in a shoving match with an LSU fan who said Knight stuffed him in a garbage can at a hotel.
5. Refuses to let his team finish an exhibition game against the Soviet Union after he was ejected for arguing with a referee and is later reprimanded by the university.
6. Called a "classic bully" by Lou Henson
7. 1993, Knight screams at his player son, Pat, and kicks at him. When fans behind the Indiana bench boo, Knight turns and responds with an obscenity
8. Investigated for possible battery after allegedly choking a man at a restaurant. The man reportedly confronted Knight as he was leaving, contending he heard Knight make a racist remark
9.Reports surface of confrontations. In one, Knight throws a vase at a university secretary. In another, Knight's son Tim suffered a dislocated shoulder and a broken nose during a scuffle with his father during a hunting trip. In another, Knight attacked and knocked out an Indiana sports information director in the '70s.

Yeah, he made a stupid mistake. That said, we celebrate what he did while he was here, not what he did afterwards. That can’t be controlled by the university
What? "Can't be controlled by the university" you say?

Does your beloved university have control over the Richie Farmer banner hanging in the top of Rupp Arena? (Can't blame Rick Pitino for that one, can you?)

Farmer wasn't just a "criminal." He committed fraud against the taxpayers of Kentucky.

He absolutely did, but he was part of the unforgettables. I’m saying the university can’t cotrol his actions after he left college. They could take down his name, but that won’t happen. The same question can be asked about isiah thomas. Do you remove him for being found guilty for sexual harassment?

And a lifelong UK fan at that. I've never had the opportunity to see a UK/IU basketball game in person, but I did go to a couple of UK/IU football games in Lexington back in the late 70s/early 80s. Two memories I have of those games are 1) IU coming out in all-cream uniforms. They looked like they had on pajamas. I don't think that color scheme was ever used again. And 2) a white kid at running back for IU running all over us. I don't remember his name, but I think he had around 250 yards.

So, anyway, the reason I'm posting is that I would like to see us play each other in all sports, but let's start the discussion with basketball. I don't see it ever being a home-and-home, because Cal thinks the SEC and Louisville home-and-homes are more than enough and he has a vision of the top basketball programs in the country playing each other in big neutral-site venues in big, made-for-television events. And if that's what Cal wants, that's good enough for us (UK fans).

But before we can even play at neutral sites on semi-regular basis, IU fans have to agree to a few rules.

First, you have to stop accusing UK fans of incest and inbreeding. I'm sure you're smart enough to realize that both these include activities like rape and child sexual abuse, and, therefore, go far beyond how athletic rivals should be taunting each other.

Second, you have to pledge not to chant obscenities at UK players and fans.

And, third, you have to agree not to rush the floor if you win a basketball game. And, yes, this is much different from rushing the field at a football game.

If you agree to these terms, there might be a chance that we could play each other again. Let's test your willingness by seeing if you an refrain from making a "joke" about UK fans and incest for 30 minutes.

huh ... I always thought we were making a public service announcement to be careful down there ... those were jokes?

Come back when you grow up. Farmer served two years + in prison. That's in prison. Prison.

Does any Kentucky fan care whether a Kentucky basketball idol went to prison ?

Obviously not.

The point is that The University of Kentucky can control its own actions in deciding which former player of the University of Kentucky is worshipped by a banner at the top of Rupp Arena. After knowing full well what Richie Farmer did, the University of Kentucky consciously and intentionally continues to honor him with a banner for many years.

That 200K to the Davis family sure makes that title sweet!

That's so played out. Show your cards if you have a hand. Oh wait.....you dont. That's the only thing rival fans want to say but it has no merit at all. But keep saying it though, I'm sure it helps you sleep at night.

Using the word worship is ridiculous. His number was hung in the rafters well before the problems he faced. He was honored because he was a part of a special team and a beloved team. He was honored for his accomplishments on the court. It's pretty bad when you have dive that deep to find something to hate on. Trust me, Richie Farmer is not worshipped in this state and he has taken a major hit in the public eye for his crimes. He is not brought back and celebrated by the university at all. To say UK should take his number down is ridiculous though. People make mistakes, it doesnt change what they did on the court. I would say the same thing about Thomas. But Farmer is not "worshipped" in this state anymore. He is appreciated for what he did but that's about it. Doubt you ever see him welcomed back by the university.

The two aren't equivalent, but okay, I pledge that BBN will reimburse him for any damages to his business that he can actually document, after he apologizes for being such an egotistical jerk that he threw Benny Snell out of the Music City Bowl for having the audacity to touch his sacred lordship.

Ahh, you're confusing referees who UK fans have stalked, harassed, and sent death threats to. Higgins is the basketball ref UK fans sent death threats to, and harassed, and stalked, and gave phony reviews of his roofing business.
Chris Coyte is the football ref that threw Benny Snell out of the Music City Bowl, then received threats, and was harassed and stalked by UK fans, along with harassment of his real estate company.

I know it's confusing...you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a college referee that Kentucky fans harass, threaten, and make death threats to.

Worst. Fanbase. Ever.

I cant believe that all of you guys rose to take this troll bait. I guess it's slow down south, but 7 pages of this garbage? Really?

about the length of the many IU threads on GBI...only without IU fan posts.

Don't you have a game today or was it Thursday or yesterday? Must suck that nobody cares.

While a criminal, at least KY fans can recall his name...unlike any of the disconnected non-student mercenaries that make up Cal's shameful tenure.

It’s a helluva lot more relevant than 1987. That, in case you didn’t know, was last century. :)

I wasn't talking about IU's SOS. You were talking about UKs. Nice try but try to stay on point, considering it was YOUR point.

98? The kids playing weren't even born yet. That's what you're bragging about?

You tried to throw shade at UKs schedule by naming a bunch of teams that are better than the one that kicked a lung out of the Whoosiers.

What are your feelings regarding those hideous candy striped pants? Can that be #5?
I love it when hilljacks mention those ‘hideous candy stripe pants’.Not sure why a UK fan would be so concerned about another teams pants?
Any thoughts on Ole Miss pants,do they offend you in any way?
Just can’t stop thinking about them can ya’?
Maybe you like them a bit more than ya wanna admit? LOL
It’s tradition bud,you know sorta like Cal having 2 final 4’s vacated

been living life all weekend away from message boards, and just checked in tonight to see if IU is still living rent free in your head, and you didn't disappoint. You're even wanting to deep dive into the design of IU's warm up outfits. Good on you. I personally do not know what UK wears during warm ups. It's never been of the least importance.

I'll check back in sometime tomorrow afternoon to count how many times this irrelevant program has been on your mind since.....now.

"Rent free"... the sick insult of a loser.

And you are a really credible witness.

And you're a credible witness?

I have witnessed plenty of horrid behavior from UK fans so at best you are the pot calling the kettle black. At worst, you're an idiot that will believe whatever lies Cal spoon feeds you.

That you think you or UK get to dictate the terms of a rivalry game is the very reason we don't have a rivalry game anymore. That and Cal is too chicken to play us.
